Does anyone have lobang for ring setting?

House of Hung quoted me 1100 for white gold while Ciel Jewels quoted 770 for white/rose gold and 920 for platinum. To be frank I have no idea why the difference, maybe HOH is a bigger name?

P.S. Same setting, Tiffany style 6 prong.

How about normal GIA cert vs IIDGR? is it worth more for IIDGR

GIA or AGS is definitely worth more. IIDGR is just a marketing cert.
It’s like the owner of the mine, certifying his own diamonds. Too much confilct if interest...

You need to check the depth, table and girdle size, but to be frank I think it's a good buy. With 3k at JP I think it's a 0.3ct size, and 0.3 to 0.6 is a leap. Maybe you can check the price at JP and also the price for external ring setting (which you have to pay if you're not buying from JP) to make your choice. Can also consider Poh Heng for diamonds as well, I heard for Ideal range diamonds they are cheaper than JP.

Thank you for your help. I'm not too sure how to check on the proportions, don't mind can help me take a look?

You may consider to use this website to check
https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

Generally HCA <2.0 considered good, but also depend on the scope image

IMHO, scope image from JP are all very similar and hence might be nth much to comment about. They have already set the standard, and the remaining is only on shape, carat and if want go for special design.
I think it is more on whether the diamond u picked meets your budget and your future wife's expectation

Hi guys, I found this video on diamond purchasing for those on a budget. I think what he says makes sense, if your budget is limited, it's ok to just find a decent diamond at the biggest size you can afford.

Speaking as a girl and someone who likes diamonds, the most important factor is the sheer size of your diamond and how easy you can see it at 20cm+ (the length you will use at most times) and not within 8cm (first few days only)...I think clarity and colour can come into more consideration at above 0.70ct.

Did you brought her over after the proposal?

But how to meet an agreement point on spending of ring? You gave her a budget or just let her choose whatever she wants?

:s8:

Yeah. After proposal.

I gave her a lower budget one like see .3 but end up buying slightly bigger one as a surprise.

Same, been telling her 0.3 - 0.5 for more than a year, then surprise with 1 CT+, this is probably the safest way to surprise yet still can come up with an agreement on the kind of setting she wants.

Furthermore, if your partner fights with you thinking the diamond too small, you've ample time to re-consider your proposal :s13::s13:

PS: Unless of cuz if you're a high flyer and buys a tiny ring, then you deserves a scolding haha.

What's your budget? U can always tell her smaller size and then do a small upgrade before u propose as surprise.

It's good to go along with her to decide on the ring design or customization, as for diamond size, u could always lie.

The better ones I could find was like this

Whether the diamond is eye clean is one thing.. you also need to make sure it wont have durability problems. low clarity diamonds usually have structure risks problems of chipping from hard knocks. Once damage, the diamond is not salvageable anymore.

Color is depends on the sensitivity of your eyes. My own threshold is G color. I already find H color to be quite yellow. One trick I read is if you go for low color, you should set the diamond on a yellow gold ring. It wont make the diamond look too yellow :s13:

The video also said no matter what, Cut is still most important. Which i fully agree..
I feel that if you just want the size only, and the rest doesn't matter, you can consider those lab grown diamonds too. It will get you the size and will still look better than a very low color and clarity diamond.

Yours is a gray diamond right? That's quite cool. I never seen one before! Share some photos when you receive it!

Most of these videos are not catered for Asian where we all prefer something white (and people often in Asia often judge yellowish as inferior), however, in the Western and European countries, they do not mind H I J color and often goes for 2-3 CTs.

Around 2k nia. I bought the diamond from JP ad. will propose with ring clipper first, then bring her to select ring design later on..
it shows more sincerity with diamond there during proposal, and also more economical cuz can lock-in diamond cost :D
