Yes the hearts is not symmetrical too. For the ASET scope, I thought that the ideal cut is more red than the SIC? Actually I can't really spot the difference between the two ASET scope. Can someone point out the difference?

The Super Ideal cut’s ASET scope somehow looks sharper and more defined. Ideal scope is almost the same. Maybe the main reason of it being not a Super Ideal is the Hearts in-symmetry.

Hi guys! I'm the one who asked about 1ct diamond from JannPaul =:p

I decided to buy this diamond from James Allen in the end: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...y/round-cut/1.27-carat-i1-clarity-sku-4463101. Realised colourless diamonds are somewhat common with my friends and wanted something different from the usual VS1 D / Solasfera choices.

There's a blurry spot right in the middle of this diamond but given the carat size (1.27 is the birthdate of me and my bf + it's nice and big), natural grey colour (low-key enough for work + camouflage flaws slightly after being set on a ring), GIA specs... I'm willing to accept this one for the price, after all every natural diamond has its own character.

In total I spent $2.9k :o James Allen provides 100% return policy but if all goes well, I'll get to keep this! Will post an update after receiving it :)

Wah are you sure? It takes a lot of bravery to accept such unique stone, considering that fact of the judgements behind your back also. I’ve never seen anyone with a gray diamond. As Long you’re certain you won’t regret it then all the best!

You might want to consider a unique ring setting too, I can imagine a white gold ring looking real weird with a gray stone, might look like a toy instead. Can consider going for some intricate and unique ring setting that will make the whole ring looks unique

Thanks for your suggestion! Now that you mention it I can imagine some nasty people saying that my ring looks like a toy 😂 I considered other options like sapphires, rubies, lab colourless diamonds, but visual and maintenance-wise I think I really prefer a natural diamond.

That said, worst case will still consider returning it if I truly don't like it 😊

Have u checked with JP to see if they could bring this stone to SG? As I do remember they does bring stones which are in virtual inventory to SG and charges lesser than blue Nile or James allen, however I’m not sure if u need a deposit for that. Also considering that fact that u could utilise the free ring customisation if u get thru JP

Visual wise, gray will be better than simulated diamonds?

Personally I just wanted an alternative to normal white diamond and felt that the grey diamond was at a good price point for the size.

For white natural diamond and white lab grown diamond, actually no difference (provided is chemically 100% diamond, not diamond stimulant). Diamond stimulant I heard is still far from actual diamond because it gets cloudy, cannot maintain the clear internal sparkle over long term de.

Ah...I didn't know that :( I guess I was in a rush to buy already because it was the only grey diamond that looks like that. I don't mind keeping the option for returning it and pay extra for setting after I decide that I do like the diamond.

Before shipping it over, you better plan out your return process properly. There is a chance you might lose out on the taxes when you receive it. Also shipping it back might not be very straight forward. Singpost will only insure max abt $100. FedEx or UPS will cover max 1-2k. I had a fren that tried to return a diamond back to the US and all in, he lost abt $600 from the tax and shipping. He had to find his own shipping agent to bear the extra insurance cost on top of FedEx cos of the high value.

Hi all experts here!

My wife and I are not expert in rings, and don't really care about the beauty or quality of the ring, except that it be 1 carat and as cheap as possible. We both went to almost 20 stores, told the sales assistants about our two conditions, and finally found one which was quoted $4,300 for the 1 carat ring.

Should I expect this to be the cheapest I can get, here in Singapore? The ring will be kept inside safety box after marriage, in case anyone is interested to know.

if you only care about one of the 4 c (meaning only carat) and nothing else, you should be able to get it even cheaper from online diamond shops.. they do ship to singapore with the necessary certificate that it is 1 carat... throwawaygrad above is a good example.. 1.27 carat.. real diamond, 2.9k only..

I think white diamonds are more expensive than grey ones though (I think they are 3k USD starting for 1ct) and tbh they don't look very nice on the JA website (many inclusions). I took a risk with the grey diamond because coloured diamonds not so strict on clarity and cut vs white and flaws not as obvious. If you can go to a store and see in real life and you're satisfied with it, I think you just buy from the shop better.

Oh no, I haven't considered that... I will check with them.

Don’t forget the GST for shipments coming in above 400SGD

Hi all, went to love and co yesterday and compared their lovemarque diamond 0.54 D vs2 against normal 0.7 f/G vs1.

From my naked eyes the lovemarque one seems more shiny and "big" but the prices are about the same at 7.5-8k.is this a reasonable price? Compared to like blue Nile and James allen the prices seems like Double. Or should I go jannpaul and take a look as well?

No harm to go JP and survey. You probably find something better and at 0.7-0.8~ for your budget

You need to check the depth, table and girdle size, but to be frank I think it's a good buy. With 3k at JP I think it's a 0.3ct size, and 0.3 to 0.6 is a leap. Maybe you can check the price at JP and also the price for external ring setting (which you have to pay if you're not buying from JP) to make your choice. Can also consider Poh Heng for diamonds as well, I heard for Ideal range diamonds they are cheaper than JP.

How about normal GIA cert vs IIDGR? is it worth more for IIDGR

I'll still trust GIA more, as IIDGR are opened by De Beers and they are also the one who claim that it's better....(no credibility on that)

Regardless, certs aside, ASET scope is still the only way to go to identify a quality diamond :)
