Around 2k nia. I bought the diamond from JP ad. will propose with ring clipper first, then bring her to select ring design later on..
it shows more sincerity with diamond there during proposal, and also more economical cuz can lock-in diamond cost :D

just be extra careful dont drop the diamond....it can be easily dropped while on ring clipper

Most of these videos are not catered for Asian where we all prefer something white (and people often in Asia often judge yellowish as inferior), however, in the Western and European countries, they do not mind H I J color and often goes for 2-3 CTs.

Finger size plays a part too. Ang mos having bigger hands that will make diamond look smaller. 2-3ct will look crazily big on asian hands i reckon. Imagine going to market or hawker centre with a 2-3ct ring. If the seller see the ring, confirm will try to chop you :s13: (sorry, asian mentality here)

They just love it big there, even those very slim fingers, 1CT is counted small at there, they would love diamonds which covers the whole width of the finger. hahaha.

But it's amazing to see people willing to spending couple hundred thousands just for a ring...

True, I noticed from forums like WeddingBee that western women tend to view diamonds more subjectively vs objectively having to get the best specs. I agree with the comment on lab diamonds by the way, they are probably half the price of natural diamonds and are usually cleaner than subpar natural diamonds.

I tried searching for fun on the J SI2 the video recommended.. Most of them are something like this le...

The better ones I could find was like this

Whether the diamond is eye clean is one thing.. you also need to make sure it wont have durability problems. low clarity diamonds usually have structure risks problems of chipping from hard knocks. Once damage, the diamond is not salvageable anymore.

Color is depends on the sensitivity of your eyes. My own threshold is G color. I already find H color to be quite yellow. One trick I read is if you go for low color, you should set the diamond on a yellow gold ring. It wont make the diamond look too yellow :s13:

The video also said no matter what, Cut is still most important. Which i fully agree..
I feel that if you just want the size only, and the rest doesn't matter, you can consider those lab grown diamonds too. It will get you the size and will still look better than a very low color and clarity diamond.

Yours is a gray diamond right? That's quite cool. I never seen one before! Share some photos when you receive it!

Haha I will! I hope it looks nice irl. I agree with you that it's unacceptable to prioritize affordability and sacrifice durability.

The lab diamonds that I've seen online are really good, like Ada Diamonds or Good Old Gold. (Only unsure about the resale price as we all know diamonds already don't have much.) I only turned back to natural because I heard the heating process for resizing might interfere with the colour of a lab grown coloured diamond.... however I suppose it should not be a problem for lab colourless diamond.

All Super ideal range from JP are the same, no need to seek for advice, unless you’re buying from ideal or lower range

notice many people here r reco JP. for the "cash n carry" diamond rings, r theirs consider among the cheapest in sg?

for example, is it possible get a 0.9 carat (disregard the remaining Cs) at JP for $3k or max $4k?

i was reco to go house of hund but like a second opinion

People reco JP cuz of the super ideal cut.
If you only want the carat and regardless cutting, colour and etc, JP might not be the best option..you can perhaps get a gauge price at James allen or Fonder diamond website..fonder can give round diamond at 0.9 with SI2 and J at ~3k excluding setting..

but take note, diamond with poor cut and colour will not looks so good when compare site by site with diamond with lower carat but better cut and colour..then again if you only want high carat then can consider

I do remember that online retailer like blue nile and James Allen most of their diamonds are virtual inventory where many other dealers has access to it and does not belong to them, and JP could also get the same diamond u see from the list and charges you cheaper than those online retailer.

However i'm not sure if u need to place an deposit for that (i assume yes as they had to ship it over to SG for you). Remember to include GST when purchasing online too.

Went to JP with my gf last friday. I saw got afew couple like me also. so its normal to bring gf along :s13:

Joy attended to us. We later went to google her and saw that she got alot of good reviews herself. Quite lucky we managed to get her. She made the diamond session easy to understand and relaxed. My gf liked the Brellia diamond but they didnt have much stock left for it. They didn't have a singe piece in 0.6ct left. Only have some in the 0.5ct or 1 last 0.7ct left but in a higher color and clarity.

The next option is the Octagon. My gf likes the sparkles of it and can set the diamond in a more squarish shape by the corners. We just don't know exactly how it will look like.

Joy told us their next Brellia shipment will be in like 2-3 months times but they don't have a confirmation yet. We're not sure if we should get the Octagon or should we wait a few more months for the Brellia?
