old AGS cert

anyone who recently bought an octagon from JP? what is the date of certification on your AGS?

I went down recently and saw an octagon with AGS that is dated 2016. A little concern why this is an old cert and also if this is a stone where someone has traded in. JP said that this is a new diamond and because octagons are rare, they will sit with the cutter or AGS for a long while until a sizeable number accumulates before JP haves them shipped over - reason sounds valid but still the stone is 2 years old:s11:

any thoughts from you guys?

Octagon scopes

Just received the scopes. Are they ok? Noticed some of the inner arrows are not super symmetrical, even the center green circle as well. Not sure if I should change for another stone. Any thoughts guys?

Such questions u should ask them directly, octagon is. Patented cut and should look the same, however the person taking the scope photos and angle might sometime have error hence it’s best u ask them directly on this

Noticed that everyone kinda left the clarity out haha, remember that every jump in clarity is also around 5-10% more expensive

haha.. well a jeweller once told me, no point going for good clarity if you are going to wear it everyday, cuz the diamond will get dirty due to use like hand cream, dirt and dust etc and the girl is not going to clean the ring every hour.. as long as the clarity is not too bad, can already, spend the saving on the other c :)

I know, VS2 is enough.

What i meant was that they are comparing prices of various diamonds without mentioning any clarity; forgetting that clarity affect the price too.

I believe generally Octagon and Brellia has the oldest in stock cert dates, as there's alot less demand for such non round diamonds hence it's normal to have excess stocks for years laying around haha

I saw their new video on the octagon with the normal rounds. I wonder if next time I can use the finger test too to detect bad cuts anot :s13:

Realistically speaking based on real life situation, if your cut is good (e.g Super ideal), no one can identify it being an D or G, unless they have a much better color diamond right beside it to do a detailed Long stare comparison.

Other than that, it also depends on your mind, if you personally think G is imperfect, u will always think that it’s imperfect 😂

Hahha will thank you for the advise!will it look yellow with the side diamonds den?

Like will the side diamonds make the more yellow G more obvious?
Bcuz mine have to be with the side diamonds

Size 46 is about US 4 yeah. About same as my partner size. 0.5 won’t look big don’t worry haha. I’ll suggest wait for a VS2 and F~ diamond and bump it up to 0.6 Super ideal.

Same thought! If not 0.56 for the price diff I rather you get a D and bigger carat.

Nope, even with D, the side diamonds will also look whiter than the main D diamond lol.

Because the tiny melees are too tiny, it looks like bunch of white dots which explains why it looks super white, no matter u put beside a D or G, there wont be much difference.

However i'm personally more anal, i'll get F just to fall in the colorless category of color haha

As in 0.05 diff and D for $700 price difference rather get 0.56

If he drops the color from D to F, VVS2 to VS2, he probably could get something at 0.65 range which i strongly believe aesthetic wise, a F 0.65 VS2 will beat 0.56 D VV2 hands down.

I think the price is about right for your stone. Having said that, i will drop the color to F or G and bump up the weight above 1. (That's what i did) - i did the color comparison in store, there were 2 Gs and a F. One of the G has an obvious tint to it while the one i chose, i cant tell the difference between the F and G once the stone is mounted onto a setting. It's really difficult to tell. (G face up really white though, even more so for a super ideal).

Thank u for ur advise!
Would you mind to tell me how Long ago was this or were u quoted the pricing?
Bcuz I understand that prices vary.

Thanks kinochoco and kkeell for your advice. Much appreciated. The circumference of the diamond for 0.51 is 5.13 and 0.56 is 5.29. So it’s only a 0.16mm difference. Which I not so sure is it worth.

Haha, what i actually advised is if u dont mind, drop the color to F, and wait for a VS2 stone so u can get bigger diamond with similar budget.....D color and VVS2 is pointless, you're paying for something that u cant see other than sounds nice on paper.
