I believe if u have the cert number, and the diamond is from an online inventory, they will be able to bring it in for you, but I believe you will be making payment to them as though buying from them. Doubt they will do scope analysis prior to bringing it in for you. Best is to directly enquire with them.

But that will mean it's going through additional distribution channels and probably not worth the price already...

Why not just ask them for a similar specs diamond instead?

the leap from 0.43 to 0.51 is $800 about 20%. i would not mind upping my budget, but for 20% increase in budget im not exactly sure it is going to be worth it. i will have to reloook at it again to see if the 800 is worth paying for the extra size however that would have me sacrifice the DEF colorless range for G which again i would have to consirder. i have pondered had come to the conclusion that as VVS2 vs VS1/2 is only visible to the eye under 10x magnification its not worth a stat im paying the extra for. more so that im getting a diamond at the size of 0.4-0.59. maybe it would affect a >1carot.

As you have suggested i did earlier arrange with JP to view a couple of ideal cut diamonds with similar specs that poh kim provided hoping to see how it looks side by side with the SIC ones. will updated tmr.

i may have to visiti poh kim again as my visit with them was alittle rushed

1) see 3 diamonds
2) tell them which you u dont want
3) glance at the scope from top/bottom
4) do you want to commit to purchase?

felt little commercial.

i share the same view as you on "the dull diamond". i would not sacrifice a minor increase in size for the scintillation and brillance of a diamond. after all isnt that the point of getting a diamond for the stones ability to "shine" innately. will report my findings again tomorrow.

cheers

I'm more inclined to the better to the better cut one. There's no escape when the diamond is dull. I find that people might even think its not a real diamond when its dull. When the diamond cut is good, you can get away with a lower color. The higher brightness from the better light return will make it look 'whiter'. I've seen G color diamonds looking better than the E-F range before for the better cuts.

Another point to consider is the location/types of inclusions for the VS2s. You dont want those that can chip the diamond.

I have to admit I did not pay much attention to the inclusions types. Which types of inclusions shld I stay away from?

I have slept on it and decided to value cut over size.

I will make a visit tomorrow and get share my views. Thanks.

Stay away from those inclusions affects the durability. Like those on the surface or on the edge. There are other bad ones too that can affect the sparkles. Here are some no nos.

Cavity
Feather on the edge
Bearding
Chip
Crack
Etch channel
Knot
Bruise
Laser drill holes
Twinning wisp

Nope, most online sellers does not list from their own inventory, they bascially shows you the diamond from the global diamond listing which are only available to be purchased by vendors.

Hence when you place a order for a specific diamond, they then drop ship to you after marking up the price for profits.

Meaning to say, all online dealer have the same access to the global diamonds listing, so no, you won’t pay additional even if you get Jann Paul to grab the diamond for you.

Has anyone personally purchased off white flash, James Allen, Brian gavin or enchanted diamonds?

Got kana gst anot

By law yes, you will be imposed GST once it passes the custom to Singapore, but there are some cases where it was omitted.

Hence I’ll suggest you consider GST into the pricing before making any decision.

Planning to propose to my girlfriend overseas. Have made the ring but will I trigger any GST/custom security, etc? Wouldn't want the surprise to be spoilt by airport security or customs clearance..

I also had the same worry when I went to Korea and proposed. But fortunately, custom went smoothly.

I think customs wouldn't do a bag check for a ring :)

Most of these are found in clarity SI1 and below. To add on, if there's a crystal inclusion, make sure it's not a dark colored crystal!

I went to Penang to propose 2 months ago and went through the custom smoothly as well! I put it in my hand-carry luggage though. Not sure about check-ins.

Same here. I think it's not safe to put the ring in check in cos never know who will pry open the bag

You can ask JP. They will give you a small zip lock bag or pouch. Put the diamond ring in the zip lock bag inside your wallet. When you go through the customs, you put your wallet in the xray machine as per normal.
