Hi Guys,

Recently looking at proposal ring. So not too knowledgable about the requirements therefore seeking advise here.

I went to JP and Lovis recently.

Saw this at JP
0.66 D VS1 triple exe @ $6300 (but too bad sold)
So still looking around if have any better around at JP

Saw at Lovis( 2 choice)

0.7 E VVS2 triple exe @ $5660

0.8 D VVS1 (very good) cut for all 3 factors @ $7487

My budget is around 8k
Should I even consider the 0.8?

Thanks

I wouldn't consider the VG cut at all. Even if you get the best grade in color and clarity, if the cut is not good, your diamond won't be bright and end up looking darker. I see you're going for v. high color D-E and high clarity only VVS1-VVS2. I suggest focus on the Cut first and then the rest.

Its like cooking.. even if you buy the best ingredients (color and clarity), if the fire/technique (cut) is not good, you will still get burnt food.

@Draculav thanks for the advise. So technically the 0.7 is a much better choice and its HCA is going to be better.

Can let me know what's the difference between a ideal excellent cut and normal triple excellence cut?

Anyone bought from whiteflash before? Their prices for A Cut Above series do seem cheaper than JP (after gst) and quality do looks comparable.

Yea. I think it is comparable, but note that after service has a price too. Like repolishing and resizing.

Also use of credit card options.

Whiteflash might charge for shipping and insurance too.

Lol. That's a very accurate way of putting things in perspective!

You'll be paying more for the brand name than for the diamond. Some of their diamonds are not GIA or triple Excellent. $9k is on the high side.. Summore they don't use the scopes to show their diamonds..

This is my proposal ring from Sookee last time next to my octagon diamond from JP.

You should read up the older posts in the part 2 thread. Alot of people also got compare their old rings with their new ring from JP.

My Octagon is a 0.56ct :)

=========================================

You should see this one

This is the Tiffany i got before

I wasn't happy that the diamond was not of the best quality that I was hoping for, my wife found the diamond was too small, end up we got one more from Jannpaul.

The funny thing we both notice is that jannpaul diamond is whiter, even the color is lower. It's possible to see from the pictures too. My camera cannot capture the sparkles but in real life the jannpaul diamond is much more sparkly and looks just more clean, like you can see all the cutting much clearer.

I think it was mentioned to check that the diamond no. corresponds with the receipt number. There might be more things to check for, though. It's so cool that you're going to collect with your S.O! haha my S.O is going to collect it on his own (me thinks).

Proposed successfully in Japan :D

Super super happy with my ring! I think my gf loves the ring more than me now. haha. It was a last minute proposal as I tried to fit it into my Japan trip. Sam helped me expedite my ring crafting to be ready earlier. Very earnest and friendly guy. Gave me good advice on my diamond and ring design selection. Very pleased with their Super ideal cut. It's as good as what you've guys been praising about.. so I won't go too much in detail.

I proposed in Garo-Kadan Ryokan in Hakone, Tokyo.
It's one of the most expensives ryokans but so worth every penny, I went for the cheapest room available but it was good enough.

For those who are considering of doing a proposal in Japan, you might want to consider the Garo-Kadan Ryokan.
The ryokan is situated right at the highest point or almost the highest in Hakone. Could smell fresh air all the time. The best part is, you'd find yourselves on a open concept ryokan in the mountains and the MOST you'd see is another guest or 2 walking around at the same time. Very peaceful and quiet. Its big and they try to keep capacity as low as possible to keep a very private atmosphere.

There's onsens inside of course and the food is crazy healthy and good. If you think japanese people are very polite and welcoming, then this place is gonna tip that scale. Extremely romantic and we got ALOT of private romantic time while staring out into the mountains. Oh, and there's karaoke to sing together at night if you want.
All in all, experience is a 10/10 but very $$$$$.. I just made it a 2 day stay. Definitely a worthy spot for a proposal

She wasn't expecting any of all this, so she thought the whole trip was just a special plan. On the 2nd day (the onsen is accessible 24 hours) after karaoke around 2am, I suggested her to do to the onsen again and hid the ring box in my traditional robes. When she complained about how sad we had to leave tomorrow already, I took our the ring to propose with the view of the mountain in the backdrop :)

Anyway, these are my diamond's scope images

Looks so pretty! Is it a mixed metal? Looks like white and rose gold but I cannot tell :D happy for you! What is the size of the carat, may I ask?
