Yea, I won't be surprised if it's not the equivalent of JP super ideal. For my SO, she really doesn't mind if she can get a bigger carat so just trying to fit everything with my budget.

No harm checking the GIA with JP anyway. If they can get it from the diamond cutter directly and for a cheaper price, can save you some $$

The pricing seems right for an ideal. Do you happen to have the scopes? We don't get a lot of ideal scopes here, it'd definitely help buyers who are deciding if it's worth it to get a super ideal over an ideal.

The ASET looks alright, but it does not fall under AGS's Ideal proportions because it's considered a shallow diamond (crown 34 / pavilion 40.6).

"Marcel Tolkowsky calculated that the ideal case is a 34.5-degree crown paired with a 40.75-degree pavilion. What you need to know now is that for a diamond with a 40.6-degree pavilion angle that bends light too much, you need to have a steeper 35-degree crown angle in order to compensate. In the same way for a diamond with a 41-degree pavilion angle that doesn’t bend light enough, then you need to have a shallower 34-degree crown angle to compensate." - http://www.prosumerdiamonds.com/crown-angle/

Shallow cuts usually get compromised on it's fire and scintillation to look abit larger. it's considered a 3 EX diamond not Ideal because it falls out of AGS Ideal range. But the price is right for regular 3 EX diamonds :)

I really like your design!! The workmanship does look very good.
Is your side diamonds round or square? It looks abit squarish from the front photo but can't really tell.
How did you go about getting it?
Is it need to sketch it out for them to see and customize?
The cursive patterns on the side, can choose the pattern we want or is it standard?

Sorry for the many qns! :o Wondering how to go about doing this kinda design...

the side diamonds should be normal round stones, maybe they're placed very close together so they look squarish. I showed JP the verragio design, and told them my modifications e.g. Lower setting, thinner prongs. The cursive patterns aka filigree can be customised. You can draw out and they'll take it into the 3D render.

Dear all,

I am deciding between the following 2 diamond:

- 0.54 E Colour VS1 $4250
- 0.606 E Colour VS1 $5400

The price difference is about 1.2k but the size of the carat is mere difference.

Any advise from you guys?

I will be heading down for my appt next week but still struggled between both spec. Hopefully can have more inputs from you guys.

depends on
1) does the size difference look very significant to you?
2) what is your budget?

if the answer for 1) is yes and 2) is 5400, go with the .606.
if the answer for 1) is no, then go for the .54

;)

If the size is not too much difference to you, then probably go for the cheaper option? Or you can try seeing other diamond that is in between eg 0.58 or 0.59 E VS1?

I can see a slight difference between both. Jerome only show me another diamond which 0.52 F VVS2

I can notice a slight difference between both and my budget (includes setting) is approximately 5 to 6k.

I think I mentioned this previously, but I really feel 1.2k for a 0.6 bump in carat is not worth it, even if it's within your final budget. You can consider reallocating the 1.2k to something else, a short holiday or a pair of couple watches perhaps?
