Does anyone ever asked for discount buying diamond at JannPaul? Did you get it? If yes, how much lower?

I tried to ask for cheaper setting but didnt get a discount. I didnt push hard though. Bought an affordable solitaire.

the triple excellent score is a broad range of diamonds, and could have HCA scores between 0 - 2 or even higher.. a point to note is that the HCA score only measures the light angles of the diamond, the lower the score, the better proportioned it is to reflect light.. that being said the proportions are only one of the considering factors that makes a diamond bling, for JP if I'm not wrong, the HCA score is only used to filter the better proportioned diamonds for further scrutiny.. to meet the super ideal standards, other factors such as light return, the symmetry of the hearts and arrows etc are also taken into consideration.. as such you can conclude that the super ideal range in JP is definitely a trip ex diamond, but not the other way around.. you can go for their diamond education to get a better understanding of this :)

HCA is used as a rejection tool and not a selection tool that means that a high HCA means a bad diamond, low HCA does not means good diamonds. Most importantly still need to analyse the diamond through the various scope esp the Aset scope.

Yes i was there this afternoon and i am very satisfied very their good service. They are very professional and the diamond lesson was great! Really enjoy looking at the diamonds through the scopes!

Hi Every pros here, I get an offer for 0.40ct F color,SI1 from MEYSON for $1900 Triple Ex with just a simple 18k setting without side diamond…i have checked the eight arrows with scope… they are properly and perfectly placed…i think the scope is not an “Aset” scope…here is the GIA report。2226667094…

Worth to buy?

Thank you in advance for your reply

I am not a pro buy just sharing what i have gather from my research. I would recommend to get at least clarity of VS2 and above as SI1 and below especially there is a feather (cracks) might cause the diamond to chip. I found that SI diamond are normally priced at quite a huge discount but to me probably to have a piece of mind i rather get a clarity of at least VS2.

View the diamond in a 10x scope, make sure it's eye clean enough for you. There shouldn't be a concern of chipping for SI1, anyway 0.4 size kinda hard to spot inclusions. If you can't stretch your budget for a bigger stone, do consider lowering your color to G and perhaps up the size.

JP

JP quoted the following,
Octagon cut
0.611 carat
E color, Vs1 @6k

Is this price reasonable/their usual pricing? Any similar spec and price would be a good gauge. Thanks!

Lol... I was planning to propose in Iceland. But I scare she lose her ring.... Omg, the scare is real I tell u. So I change my plan to booking a club/executive room hotel stay one day before to propose to her.

I was trying to be a bit different from other proposal, yet not too high profile.

My friend proposed to her gf in Iceland and the experience was really cool.

Can we ask for discount on Jann Paul diamond or for ring setting?

quite hard i would say.. unless you are buying your wedding bands with them too then I think they would give a discount on the bands.. alternatively try making use of the credit card rebates to offset some of your cost ;)

my 0.64 F VS2 was $5.6k.. cut back on the color and clarity in exchange for a little bump on the carat size.. i think your price is about there :)

Yes, the pricing is about there. I believe there are a few other Octagon quoted in this thread that you can take a look at. Bro dearmisterj shared his with you as well. I can't share with you mine bcos its not Octagon. :s13:

Agree with bro dearmisterj;

Scopes
Light return ✓
Hearts ✓
inclusions are normal (unless you're going for Internally Flawless or Flawless diamond) furthermore they won't be visible to the naked eye.

Go for the Brellia if you like that. I don't see any reason the inclusion should affect your decision. But still decision lies with you! :D

Thanks fir3bon3!!! I shall get the brellia cut

personally i dont see any problems with either scopes, both look to have ideal light returns.. light leakage is indicated by white areas, and both diamonds are bound to have a little around the edges ( you can see these with all the previous users' scopes too).. what i mean is that if you feel that the flaws ( i.e the cloud, feather, crystal incursions) are too visible for your preference, you may want to select another brellia of higher clarity. does the brellia diamond look less shiny to the naked eye? anw i dont think the wax model has anything to do with the diamond performance it is purely to show you an example of the setting.

Thanks dearmister for ur advice. Pardon me for being a noob. I thought there's lots of light leakage.
