Nope the one I placed a deposit for is still the same one I posted scopes of. The HOH one was the first one I considered but passed on because of some fluorescence that my friend and I felt made it look a bit less sparkly. But it was around 11k in comparison, while another 1c G VS2 from HOH was already the same price as a JP 1c G VS2, so there was no point looking at the HOH one already.

Decided to reserve the JP one in the end because there are not many diamonds around 1c in stock right now which are F/G, VS1/VS2. Not keen on paying the premium for higher colour/clarity grades.

But recently my gf commented that the octagon is pretty so I am a bit tempted to change to an octagon if the price is right...

Just heard back from JP, >1c octagon DEFINITELY not within budget :s13:

Haha yeah stick to round bro, previously I was considering1ct solasfera, but for that price, I could get 1.2+ super ideal.

How much was the 1c solasfera if you don't mind me asking? Around 18-19k for specs equivalent to or just above G/VS2?

If I'm not wrong, 1ct solasfera G VS2 is around 16-17k for the stone. Octagon cost 18-19k?!? 😅😅

No lah not so high :s13:

Was quoted for the following octagons (the cheapest in stock currently above 1c):
1) 1.131 G VVS2 - 17+
2) 1.202 G VVS2 - 19+

Oh, then I think solasfera might be slightly more expensive or around the same bah. Luckily my girl prefers super ideal, she still find that 8 hearts and arrows are more neatly contrasted, perhaps solasfera might look neat only at 1.5-2ct above

Yup solasfera should be abit more than octagon. I think octagon and solasfera diamonds are nicer when it's a relatively larger diamond, especially the octagon because the shape isn't as prominent when it's a smaller size. But limpeh no moolah to buy big designer cut diamonds :s22:

anyone realised jp is targetting the men?

we like tech specs..and quantifiable returns...they are catering to that.

the ladies dont really care beyond size or a simple triple ex gia certified.

I don't think its just the men. They are popular on the female and wedding forums too. Girls are more into the design and bling. For it to be bling, the diamond needs to be a good cut and we leave you guys to figure out how to get a good cut :s13: Plus, you guys will be the one paying =:p

To me, I rather my SO spend on a good quality diamond ring than pay more for a not so good one.

In vacuum yes... But once the ladies start comparing with their friends, that's a completely different matter :s13:

I think the genius in JP's marketing is in the way they compare their diamonds against the mass market retail diamonds, through their introduction programme and service.

Yah correct ah it should be based on calendar year quarter, isn't it all consistent?

Q1: Jan, Feb, Mar
Q2: Apr, May Jun
Q3, Jul, Aug, Sep
Q4: Oct, Nov, Dec

I think UOB One card is the best now for cashback if you have time to go to JP to pay 2k every month. If don't have enough time to break into monthly 2k payments, alternative would the Amex True Cashback (if new customer, 3% cashback on first $5000, then 1.5% cashback thereafter without any spending limit), or go for any miles card.

According to the TnC, that is not the definition of the quarter...nehmind, i call and ask...

http://www.uob.com.sg/assets/pdfs/one_card_full_tnc.pdf

“Quarter” means a period of three consecutive statement months, and where the first Quarter shall start
from the date on which the Principal Cardmember is first issued a Card.

Ok, I just called UOB and clarified. For simplicity, assume I spend at least 3 txn for each statement month.
Their 3rd quarter is Jun Jul Aug. I got my card on 12th June. But because I got my card on 12th June, I won't be able to receive my statement on June (1st month) itself.

I receive the statement in July (2nd month) from the spending from 13th June - 12th Jul. I spent more than $2000 here.

Next, I will receive the statement in Aug (3rd month) from the spending from 13th July - 12th Aug. I need to spend more than $2000 here.

Here is the catch: I will only be pro-rated $200 based on above because I only received my card in June, and hence will receive statement for Jul and Aug.

When the new quarter starts on Sep, Oct, Nov, I will need to spend $2000 each of these months in order to qualify for full rebate of $300. If I were to just spend $2000 on Sep and I don't follow up with $2000 each on Oct and Nov, I will not be pro-rated $100 and depends on my minimum spending in Oct and Nov as well.

Hope this clarifies.

To supplement the above situation (This will happen in real life coz i'm gonna earn my well-deserved $200!), this is quoted from UOB One card's TnC:

3.2. Quarterly Cash Rebate for the first Quarter may be awarded on a pro-rated basis as follows:
i) where the Minimum Amount for a Tier is only met in the third Statement for the first Quarter, then
one-third of the Quarterly Cash Rebate for that respective Tier will be awarded;
ii) where the Minimum Amount for a Tier is only met in the second and third Statements for the first
Quarter, then two-thirds of the Quarterly Cash Rebate for that respective Tier will be awarded;
or

spend $4500 and get back $200. That means rebate of 4.4%. NOT TOO BAD!

Hi all, just to share with you guys who are using UOB One card for the rebate, do check with UOB with regards to the start of your quarter as it varies depending on when you got your card. I paid a deposit back in June, only to find out that my quarter starts in July to September. What a bummer!! Not going to be able to spend enough over the next few months to get the 5% rebate. Have to drop to 3.33%. :(

I think I raised this previously, but someone else mentioned that his was based on calendar year regardless of date of receipt of card. Thx for sharing!

Yup it's based on calendar year....Jul - Sept is 3Q of the year ah. The other poster confused isit haha

hey guys, really appreciate it for bring it to my attention :) Kudos and hope you get to maximise your cash rebates. Most importantly, clarify the quarter you are in :)
