If you are set on an octagon, like in the photo you posted, only JP has it btw. If you are after a well-cut round brilliant (GIA triple excellent or AGS 0), there are more options.

Chose the ring design yet? It looks like a Super Ideal cut to me base on the scope images. Good buy there. Do you have the HCA score as well?
Went to JP yesterday and was served by Vince. He gave me a very good diamond and casing education. I finally got to experience what all of you guys been sharing.. Very happy with his service. He was very patient and sincere in answering my many qns even though some might some noobish.
I saw their signature diamonds.. solasfera, brella? and the octagon. He showed all of them under different lights and even brought them outdoors without those strong jewelry shop lights for me to see. This really impressed me as it just shows that they have nothing to hide and are confident with their quality. I found the octagon to be the most sparkly of the rest. It's almost on par with the solasfera but sparkles are abit bigger. Needless to say, I chose the octagon
This is the diamond I reserved in the casing I want. It's not set properly yet. Vince just put the diamond on top of the casing to show me the overall effect.

Here is the side view. This is one of the main reason why I chose this design... can see alot of the diamond and the pillars doesn't block the diamond so much. When it is set properly the diamond height will be lower.

I'm thinking of adding more small diamonds at the side part here at the bottom of the main diamond. Sorry for my noob drawing..

This is my attempt at trying to take some artistical shots. haha

The diamond I reserved is a 0.8ct G VS1. I still have an option to change it to a 0.8 F VS1 for $300 more. Do you think I should top up abit for a F? I couldn't see much difference but on the certificate, DEF is in the colorless range and GHIJ is in the near colorless range. So the F will sound and look better on the certificate. You guys think its worth the top up?
I'm planning to use my UOB one card to maximize the cash rebate. FYI, they allowed me to pay my $500 deposit in cash first. When my financial quarter month starts, I can go down and swipe my card and they will return my $500 cash back.

1.4, think it is super ideal cut![]()

Yups! It falls between the 0.4 - 1.4 HCA score range. Congrats on your buy bro! Next step will be planning for the proposal. That more headache..

wah, i had trouble considering this over a solasfera but i prefer-ed the SIC. ahahahah.
planned somehow alr, proposing overseas
well, love of my life so must do nice nice for her and myself.
guys, for the 3d render, any stage where they will send that?
i myself is getting excited for the ring, hahaha.
Ok ah, the SIC is also nice.
Oh where you planning to propose?
3D render usually take 2 weeks if I'm not wrong. You can liase with your sales person to check luh.

unless she specifically (and genuinely) wanted something smaller.haha looking for something classic like the solitaire. wonder if WD has their version of super ideal cuts?
They used to bring in both normal ideal cuts and their own premium White Dwarf Ideal, kinda like ideal and super ideal, but when I asked them recently, they said they have scrapped that distinction and just bring in the top quality diamonds now. The ones I saw were not bad, maybe not as consistent as JP, but all had pretty good HCA scores, light performance under ASET scope and symmetry. Qualification is that my comparison is only between round brilliants at both shops, didn't really look at other fancy cuts.
land of morning calm
ok i shall email sales and check after 2 weeks.
what do u all think of this?
0.45ct vvs2 e super ideal
Oh Korea?!
i would rather use the same budget and get a 0.52 vs1 e super ideal
maybe its just me

If budget permits, i will top up $300 for the F. Its once in a lifetime purchase. Just go for it!
Then again, from a human eyes, G is good enough too. JP diamonds already have the maximum light performance which will make the diamond look brighter. With a good cut, G color will already look whiter compared to other not so good F color ones.
There's a video abt it.
The extra side diamonds on the side wall is a nice touch. Bear in mind, if your gf plans to wear her wedding band with the proposal ring, it will cover up all the side diamonds on one side. Unless you put on one side only so the other side can see. But it'll be quite funny if she wears the proposal ring only.![]()
Yeah i believe WD could actually be cheaper as they have much lower overall overhead cost. but like you said, their down point will be unable to take trade-ins and we need to consider the fact that they might close down anytime. (They don't have as much financial and related field to back them up unlike JP still have House of Hung)
