Wah, your ring very chio! I really like your design, especially the inner rose gold bit inside the ring. I doubt people can see it when worn but its cool.

Good choice on the octagon diamond. I got that too. Not as big as yours but my wife received many of compliments for it already. You are right about the diamond, no matter wear you go (except for blackouts :s13:), it will be very brilliant. Probably due to its 88 facets and cut that makes it stand out more.
With your octagon diamond and cool ring design, its definitely a head turner :s22:

Thx. I compared their Super Ideal Cut, Solasfera and Octagon. The Solasfera had alot more dazzling effect with the many pinpoint sparkles. Though I understand that the 91 facets will produce alot more flashes than the 57 facets, the size of each of the flash is abit smaller. For the higher scintillation, it will have smaller fire. I quite like the effect, but a pity that it is a round shape. I wanted something more different and felt the Octagon will stand out more.

The Octagon is like the middle ground for the Super Ideal Cut and Solasfera. It has 88 facets and for the higher scintillation, it doesn't need to sacrifice on the fire thanks to the 8 arrows, instead of the 10 arrows in the Solasfera. So in a way, I get the best of both diamonds; the big fire from the Super Ideal Cut and the high scintillation of the Solasfera :s12:

I researched alot and compared the diamonds in different lightings to figure this out. I think they are probably sick of seeing me so many times already. haha

i just received my ASET scope image from JP. is it normal for the SIC to have slight difference?

like some green is thinner than others? (8o'clock VS 4 o'clock position)
and 1 of the outer green line not touching the blue arrow? (11o'clock position)

Looks good to me. I already find their scopes to be all almost the same.

Interesting design! What's enamel? I only know about teeth enamel. Is it the same? Diamonds will look different under various types of lights. I rem when I collected my ring, first thing I did was checking the diamond out in different areas in the house and playing with the lights. I even did a video of it. You can find it in my old posts.

Finalized my ring design :s12: It will have a mixture of white gold, rose gold and white enamel. I was deciding between the white or black enamel then settle on white for that pure and simple look. Black enamel was nice but not sure if it'll be too unconventional.

I went through a total of 9 rounds of back and forth inputs and changes to this final one. I mentioned to them that I wanted to document my ring creation journey and they allowed me to be more involved and film part of the process :D They're very accommodative. Kudos to their service! I requested for a nicer render for my final design as I'll be using it for my wedding montage. This was what they came up with. Again, super impressed!

This is part of the video I took when they were showing me the changes I wanted.

This is the diamond I choped. Sorry for the shaky video.. I took it on my handphone when William was showing it to me outside. haha. I wanted to see it again outdoors. Too bad the sky was all rain clouds and no sun. Either way, the diamond still look damn good rain or shine.

This is how the sky looked like when I took the video. lol
I'll be going back there again next week to see my wax model. If its sunny, I'll post up another video of it.

shape and number of hearts and arrows aside..

Anyone knows what's the difference in terms of brilliance between JP solasfera and Octagon?

Definition of enamel is - an opaque or semitransparent glassy substance applied to metallic or other hard surfaces for ornament or as a protective coating.
It can be made in any color. Red, blue, green, yellow also can.
For example, this is another render they did in with black enamel.

Solasfera will be more scintillating and the Octagon will be more firey.

You see the ASET scope of the Solasfera below. The 10 arrows that have the blue color is where the most of the fire will be at. Overall, it has more areas of blue = more fire, but each area of the blue is also smaller = small fire.
Basically, it will have more but smaller fire. If your SO is the type that likes the many many sparkly bling bling effect (more mesmerizing effect), then Solasfera is FTW.
VQzubqa.jpg

Octagon got overall less blue areas but fatter arrows. So even though it does not have as much fire as the Solasfera, each fire will be bigger. If your SO likes the big flashy glares (more wow effect), then Octagon is the one.

I'm sure there's more to this but I'm just highlighting the basic points that I know. By right, the Octagon should have more scintillation too because it got more 88 facets. It will have big fire and high scintillation but scintillation not as high as the 91 facets Solasfera.

Go see JP youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/JPJannPaul
They got alot of these videos

Brilliance is to do with diamond's brightness. The solasfera has 100% light return with zero light leakage. Going by this logic, it should have better brilliance? I might be wrong in this...

Hi everyone! I am selling a JannPaul $1000 discount voucher that works as long as you purchase a diamond that costs more than $4299. This means that I trade-in my diamond for a brand new diamond of your choice, and you will receive a brand new diamond from JP priced at $4299 or higher (just top-up to JP), the diamond goes straight into your hands (JP passes to you directly in the shop) and you pay me $3299 cash for it.

What’s the catch? My name has to be on the receipt for the new diamond as JP only allows trade-ins for the original owner of the diamond. That’s why I am selling at a steep loss of $1000 :) (and you gain $1000).

Please send me a PM if you are interested! More details here:

P.S. Thank you to those who are regulars and diamond experts in this thread for tahan-ing my posts! Do read the pastebin for my reasons for this diamond journey :)
But if you don't trade in. I think open market sale you get 50%?

Hi Romford! Thanks for reading my story :) 50% is quite a big loss but I would be glad if you happen to know places where I can sell diamonds :)

budget is only 10k :(

Are you only looking for Super Ideal diamonds? Two of my friends purchased 1 carat rings with halo settings included for around 10k from CJ Diamonds. I believe it’s ideal cut diamond. I have seen the ring in real life and it looks great, craftsmanship is good and diamond is extremely sparkly.

Nice. Didn't know you can do so many colors. I prefer the white version one too. Even your prongs got diamonds. You went bling all the way man. haha

This is the video and photos of mine. She wanted a 6 prongs setting so bo pian need to choose round shape. They said Octagon and Brellia only can do in 4 prongs. Back then, they didn't have any Solasfera in my specs. So only left with the Super Ideal. Either way, I'm very satisfied with it (or rather she is very satisfied with it. haha)

You can whatsapp him and ask him :) his number is on his website. I would suggest you visit him at Boon Keng and look at his diamonds because it seems like a good deal to me. My friend purchased his ring from him, recommended by his doctor friend (who also purchased 1ct ring) and apparently all the other doctors (friends of that doctor) made their ring purchases from him too. He is able to give better prices for quality diamonds because he is not a shop but he’s more like in the middle of nowhere warehouse building but his office/showroom is nice inside. But I know his jewellery designer/craftsman is good/has many years of experience because he repaired some pieces for me and I really had a good experience.

Hey guys, can help me see the difference between these? it's quite minor, and all spec are the same except one is E and another is F.

Somehow, F looks better to me than E. I just based on image though, don't really know what exactly to look out for. F is right side.

Right looks more blink? But the black line like abit out? What to make of this?

R17zm6W.png

Left is more dark blue, is it better? And more red means more blink effect?

SLOS49s.png

Not sure about this, but notice the LEFT 1'clock, there's a red "stain" there on the black line. what's that?

1vczkPY.png

this looks almost exactly to me.

Any comments? Thanks!
