hooted myself a super ideal cut 0.61 E VS2 diamond last weekend!! we went there with no appointment at 2pm but they were full. was lucky one of their 6pm appointment last min cancelled and we quickly took that slot.

this is the diamond we got. very very sparkly!! i took so many photos and videos of it. on table, under table, on hand, on ring, on scopes.. hehe. this is once in a lifetime moment and cost so much.. need to take more memories right?

i see the diamond by itself is so so pretty. in the later half of the video, i try to block out the lights to see the diamond in the dark. it was still bright and sparkling! its so so shiny! i couldnt stop staring at the sparkles! i move the diamond abitt or move my head abit, the sparkles will move and change colors like rainbow :s22:

i was holding the diamond on my bf's lap when he took this video. don't mind my nails (time for manicure :o:o:o)

the rest of these is under the scopes. i didnt understand fully all of this part. i left it to my boy to listen. all i know is this is to check and test the diamond to make sure it will be shiny. hahaha. i left this up to him to handle. they'll be sending me the scope pictures of it too.. think its the same ones that you guys been posting.

we chose the E VS2 combination. dont see the need to go for a higher clarity when i cant see the difference. i was actually fine with the G color. G to F like got no difference. G to E very small difference. they did a blind test on me and i got it right twice! but it was really hard lor. the reason why we got an E was because my name started with a E. hahaha. My bf name starts with G. But since this will be my ring, we follow my name. hehe

by the time we chose our diamond, the shop closing already. so in the end, we still need to book another appointment to choose the design and see what to customize.. can't concentrate at work at all today :s13:

Apparently the 0.79 was sold off by the time I got there. They said that there will be stocks coming. Based on your professional/experience advice, will they contact and update us ? Also are there sales person that you would recommend from JP ?

Hi all,

new here. Can I get your advice. Looking for a 0.6-0.7ct

JP guoted

0.61 F VS1 SIC $5200

0.63 F VS2 SIC $5750

0.71 D VS1 SIC $7700

0.79 F VS2 SIC $7950

Which is worth ?

Also is JP reccommendable or should I look at other local jewellery brands ?

Thanks in advance.

What's your budget like? Price jumps after 0.7. So unless low 0.7x has meaning for you, I'd rather get a high 0.6x but those are hard to find.

I was thinking get the 0.63 but I can't seem to justify the $550 price difference of only 0.02 CT and lower clarity x( the size difference is not obvious..so I would go for the 0.61. If you have time to wait, ask them when their next shipment is and likelihood of having a diamond in the 0.6-0.7 range.

JP is good if you're very particular about the diamond you're getting and want to be assured of quality. If you're not very particular and OK with some deviation, can consider the ideal range from HOH (but make sure check the scopes well and view it under normal lighting too to check it's shine) or other reputable jewelers for their "special" range/collection like Leo diamond etc (can view back past posts for recommendations)

Any comments on Venus tears wedding band? Or go back jp better?

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 4 using GAGT

Bf and I gonna get wedding bands from venus tears after the e-ring is settled :) the lady who attended to us allowed us (or rather, mostly me lol) to try all the rings we wanted to try! Their platinum range.. Can feel the weight on my finger. I'm amazed hahaha. The only "problem" I feel is that their gold pricing and platinum pricing for rings not much difference so I'd rather pay that bit more for platinum. But if I'm not wrong, some of their platinum is not PT950. If you're particular about the material then better check properly.

Going back to JP to settle wedding bands I feel is just for convenience sake haha but no harm :) they have a good range and if not wrong, can customize too (need someone to confirm if possible lol) just note though that wedding bands are from HOH side :)

My specs are similar to first..
I think both looks okay to me, as layman.. I'd think that there's surely a minute diff between JP and WF ACA.. Im thinking a single % difference, but the $ saved.. ok la..

You can go to House of Hung or the Canary for setting

Purchasing from overseas is ok but Jannpaul is good in that their Super Ideal range has trade in. I did buy mine online but it was just 2k USD while yours is significantly more expensive..

I Thnk is up to ur partner.
And I also have friend who wears the wedding band as a necklace bcuz his job scope also not convenient to wear the ring.
And also have Friend proposed with Orro and Rolex.
Agree that is personal pref.
Since she already told u don’t Wan den u as well get what she likes or prefer.
Buy her a nice diamond necklace or eternity ring as pendant Mayb

Nowadays not necessary to follow 'tradition', it depends on your partner lifestyle and what she prefers. I discussed with my partner about her preferences for proposal ring and she does not mind non-natural diamond alternatives as long as they still last a long time and the gem quality is good. She feels that if the ring is too expensive she won't wear out too often bc scared to lose or damage it.

My friend recommended Orro, Gordon Max and Noderite for diamond alternatives. Orro and Gordon Max sells cubic zirconia which are not durable and get cloudy, and their lab diamonds are quite pricey still. Went with Noderite as they sell moissanite which does not cloud or change colour over its lifetime or chip easily (9.25 on MOHS scale compared to 10 for diamonds) with lifetime warranty on the moissanite. It's is a popular diamond alternative, you can google for more info.

In short it's more prudent for us to save it for HDB downpayment and we choose the 1.25 carat (quite cheap to upgrade so we did) in 14k white gold for $2.2k . It's very white (DE colour) and round brilliant cut. Saved us money as my SO is a perfectionist and a diamond of this type of super ideal colour, clarity, cut and size would be like 12k plus more??? As long as this alternative is durable and can stand the test of time. You can see the video of her ring:

We can't be happier with the result, her friends were even in awe of how white it is :s13:
