New format for HCA, in its testing phase I believe
It now includes additional on whether your diamond should look it’s size or is perhaps hiding weight and appear smaller

I love how Garry describes the last point. U can impress pple with your caret weight
It’s also great that he addresses the point that lower HCA does not mean better.

How do you guys get your gf ring size without her knowing? JP gives 2 free resizing but I want to get it right the 1st time.

Anyone got experience JP customisation b4? How long did it take from start to finish?

I did two ways:

1) Take one of her current ring that she wears on her middle/ring finger down to the shop and check the ring size, and estimate from there with the shop.

2) Pretend to check out rings at jewellery shops then asked for her to try some rings on the ring finger, and get the size from there.

JannPaul can also provide you with a small ring measurement tape to secretly measure her ring finger when she's asleep or unaware. But I didn't get to use it since it's quite hard to do so without waking her up.

JP has a cable tie finger measure thing. Ask them to give you one. The challenge is to try it on her without her knowing.

Hello.

Was wondering if anyone knows any shops that sells loose gemstones? Rough and Smooth.
Dont need setting.
Nearby countries also alright.

Thank you in advance!

Any specific gems? There’s always the online route but u can also check out Benny’s Gem, they are beside Canary diamonds in Delphi Orchard

There’s also quite a few shops in Lucky Plaza

ASET show it’s not a bad stone. Just not a true hearts and arrow stone.
You should also note that 0.7 is a flat caret wt which some would avoid. If the cut is good, I wouldn’t avoid but it’s not the case here.

Your stone is 1, the next two are recent HOH ideal cuts (taken with phone too), the last is a Brian Gavin Signature.
Notice how the hearts and arrows are very distinct compared to yours
All your hearts are also have clefts or slits. If u superstitious, some would say it’s a broken heart.

The BGD stone can be had for $6360 (after gst). So if u asked me, I would prefer the online route as I get a better stone and leave $1k to do pave setting locally. Of course, u can’t beat the services of a brick n mortar shop so I leave that to u

Like Miltah said, the diamond isnt a true hearts and arrows.
I will prefer to drop the color and clarity to go for a better cut or at least a true hearts and arrows.

Your setting is in rose gold too. D Color on rose gold setting won't help to showcase the true color of your D. The rose color reflection on the gold will shine into the diamond. You're paying a premium for the high color which can't be appreciated on the rosegold setting.

Hearts are abit irregular. Depends whether it'll bother you.
Alot of inclusions all over the hearts. Is this a VS2 or SI1?

I was at JP too and noticed that most of the SICs had defined hearts but blurred arrows.

The typical light leakage areas on the idealscope is dark which would suggest it was on a dark or black background. I would try to get ASET if u can to double check.

The hearts are on the bottom and once mounted you will unlikely see it. The inclusions dun look like a durability risk. For the right price, I would gladly take a SI stone. U just need to make sure the table is clear and eye clean. As CutiePie84 mentioned, some issue with symmetry but not a disaster

Hi Diamond Gurus,

Can seek your expert advice please. I have 2 diamonds for consideration.

1) 0.35 E VS1 SIC - $2500 SGD

2) 0.41 F VVS1 SIC - $2700 SGD

Below are the scopes and images. Do they look ok? Thanks in advanced. First time buyer.

0.35 E VS1 SIC

For $200, I would take the size and clarity bump
