Wow, how much lower does JP bring in instead of going through Whiteflash?

But are they bringing in the same thing?
A vetted stone that’s as good as a SIC
Or just a very good 3ex ideal cut

Depends on what u can compromise, price, caret or cut

All great options. My preference in that size is SIC.

Another consideration... 0.625 F VS2 $3500 (after gst)
Discount code only valid until end June
Canary Diamond can set locally for $600

Hey, thanks for the recommendation from BG! It looks quite promising, would like to check with you regarding the delivery time for BG and the setting time for Canary as I will require the ring in early August.

Thanks!

Delivery was abt 4-5 working days from BG.
FedEx will pay gst upfront then bill u later

$600 by Canary was by another forummer who went there recently with an external stone. I can’t comment on setting time as I didn’t use them. Best u check

Note. Even JP will state up to 6wks for crafting so u are cutting it fine

Enough for you to purchase it locally instead of online, even if it’s the same price, at least u get to see the stone locally, cheaper setting, free aftercare services without shipping back to US.

Unfortunately pple dun think of the recourse when they decide to bring a stone in...

- what if on arrival, u dun like the stone and want to sent it back. Who pays?
- u might want to upgrade years later, a stone brought in has no upgrade. At least with some vendors, u have an upgrade policy.

My advice is often to set locally for sizing and aftercare services.

If u willing to accept the negatives and u get a great find, by all means, bring it in

JP doesn’t charge if you don’t like the diamond, however if u order it online yourself and don’t like it, you have to bear the cost of sending it back with insurances I suppose? That’s like hundreds of dollars worth depending on the insurance of the value 🤣

However as for the part on upgrading policy, this will be the only cons of it that I can see, as Long you’re pretty sure you won’t be swapping your initial proposal ring, that should be fine.

Are u sure?
Are u aware of someone who has ordered off a virtual inventory via JP. And if they dun like, had JP send back for free

As u said, it’s $$ of postage n insurance and this is not a stone that might even meet HOH standards that can be absorbed into JPs inventory

Same thing as other online vendors that offers 100% returns (shipping customer pay)...when you return, u ship it back to for example WF, they either send it back to whichever country it came from or keep it inventory to sell.

HOH does sell a lot other mid-lower standards diamond too, I’m sure they themselves will know what to ship back and what not to bah after decades of experience in this business 😂

Edit: however I believe u have to make a deposit, meaning to say, your deposit will be locked and must be utilised for purchases there ultimately

With online vendors u get more cut info thus better chance of making the right decision as compared to getting JP to bring in a stone off the virtual inventory.

Yes, with online vendors such as whiteflash if u disliked it, it’s free pre-paid fedex back within the US. Not sure if u get subsidied rates for international.
With JP, you have to pay a subsidised rate to return the stone (its not free). But yes, your deposit is locked so u have to buy there.

My point being .. if u were after a very good cut why not just get from JP/HOH or online vendors with cut info. Why would u even bother to call in a stone from a virtual inventory unless u were positive abt it

I dropped by Canary and was told a classic 4 prong setting 18k white or yellow gold is $900. Oh my goodness. Thats way more than the $600 mentioned. Showed them some pictures of the setting I wanted and was quoted $1200. Hmm.

Thanks!

I collected the ring about 3 weeks after placing the order at Canary..

Strange, I can vouch for the $600 setting done very recently and it was in fact the cheapest I was quoted among 4 different places that I went to..

Drop me a PM if you're interested to take a look at the setting I chose and the final result which I was very happy with!

Brian Gavin Signature Cushion

So I took the plunge and bought a loose diamond from BG. A 1.057c H VS1 signature cushion diamond.

https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...shion-diamond-ags-c-104105165003#!prettyPhoto[gallery2]/1/

Nett price SGD7400 after the 10% discount (including free shipping, free hearts and arrow scope, free ring box and wire ring setting to hold the loose diamond [I might now choose to propose with the ring wire setting and then bring my gf to do a setting of her choice!].

Very pleased with my purchase, as an alternative my option that I considered from JP was:
a) 1.01c G VS1 (GIA, very good symmetry, non hearts and arrows) - SGD7800
b) 0.73c Brellia (cant remember spec) - SGD7300.
c) 0.9x Brellia (cant remember spec) - SGD13k(?)

Basically I got a larger cushion diamond with 1 grade down on colour with H&A for less than a GIA (non excellent). Quite pleased.

Other brands:
d) 1c Forevermark -SGD14k (not sure if got discount but its a non H&A)
e) 1c Tiffany True Ring - SGD30k

I didn’t even know JP/HOH sells anything less than a 3ex stone

The Brellia would have been 1 color grade higher at least but u got a bigger stone for almost 40% less. Sounds like a great outcome.

For the forevermark, did they actually tell u it’s not a H&A. It’s amazing some of the BS chain stores tell u... maybe they are capable of telling the truth sometimes :s13:

Correction.
Whiteflash offers free prepaid FedEx international returns within 30days.
Whereas returning a stone that u called in via JP requires u to bear the fee

Forevermark locally is carried by Lee Hwa only, correct?

Went to Lee Hwa recently to query for 1.25c Forevermark or Destinee. Salesgirl replied they don't have such size, as theirs are mainly 1.0#c or 1.5#c (heehee, now I know why). If want 1.25c will have to custom cut. Estimated price

Forevermark : 40k
Destinee : 50k

Maybe I look like a carrot ...:s13:

Here are some of the vendors that will provide more cut info than most chain stores. There are others but these are the most reputable

https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/
https://www.whiteflash.com/
https://www.hpdiamonds.com/

JamesAllen have no cut data n started hiding certs now while Bluenile is a good place to look for the worse of what a 3ex could look like.

Cons? No physical shop. Can’t see. More hassle with fund transfer unless u buying under $2k with cc. Set locally unless u are very sure of ring size

bro, any of these 3 are not drop ship merchant?

Well, they did not tell me that it had hearts and arrows so I assumed it does not and didnt ask! It was just too expensive and in Lee Hwa it seems only Forevermark had cushion diamonds.

All these 3 are not dropshippers and hold the physical stone in store.

However, whiteflash n Brian Gavin also have access to the virtual inventory. Basically only the in-house stones have all the scope images
