Ill put color over clarity.
But when the stone is mounted onto a ring, and is sparkling with fire and brilliance, no one can tell the colour! :D

Confirmed after staring at wifey's new SIC equivalent ...

No visual difference in size, color, clarity and probably price too as u trade color n clarity.

I wouldn’t pick either as I dun like high color n clarity. But if those are your choices, then just see which appeals to your eye
+1.

I will lower both colour (to G) and clarity (to VS2) and upsize, but still keep to SIC.

Thanks. I put a deposit on the D VS1 piece as a back up, and will wait for new shipment. Hoping for a F-G VS1-VS2. There's not much choices for the octagons now. The SA said I can use my deposit to swap to another one in the future as long as I don't start the ring crafting.

Very excitedd to see how the ring will turn out. I want to start work on the design to get the ring sooner but also want to try my luck for the next shipment.

This is the scopes. Is it ok? The certificate is AGS.

Advice, pls

Just received my diamond images from JP today. I have actually placed my deposit but after looking at the images, I am thinking if I should change to another ideal cut or even a SIC.

Would like to seek advice from the experts here, pls. Thank you in advance!

Price quoted for this was $7.2k.

Apologise as I am unable to post images/url link. Just add "https: //" in front of the links below.

Is that the same one you posted before? I would prefer a better cut one and reduce the other specs.

Jp or HOH sells SIC, idealcut and triple ex
I’m actually inclined to think this was actually a triple ex

There’s been past post of idealcut which are much better. If this is really their definition idealcut then their standards have really dropped

Thanks Miltah! I have arranged to go down again and have another look. Will prob go for a SIC this time round. Safer option since JP's SIC should not go wrong.

Anyone knows what's the price range for 0.8ct SIC at JP?

I doubt this is an Ideal cut. IIRC, their Ideal cuts wont have fluorescence. In their email, it should have the ''Diamond Type'': Super ideal cut or Ideal cut or Triple excellent

Shifus, need some help deciding between these 2. I've been doing alot of reading this forum and other websites about the Lower Girdle Half (LGH). What I read is LGH is the thickness of the arrows that relates to the brightness and fire.

Thicker arrow is more fire. Thinner arrow is more brilliance (brightness?).
I'm stuck between these 2 diamonds,

0.60 F VS1 - 80% LGH
0.60 G VS1 - 75% LGH
I know the GIA cert rounds up/down the LGH by 5% so there's a possibility that its not that exact figure.

JP was nice enough to help me do a video for me. I think partly because I keep going down to compare and still cant decide :o

What I like about the 80% LGH is the brightness of it. The white reflection area is larger and the arrows are more ''clean cut?''. Though the 75% LGH will have better fire from the thicker arrows. Do normally ppl go more for the brightness or fire? I also notice that most of their diamonds are 75% LGH and very few in 80%. Does this mean that JP diamonds are more geared to fire?

Hi defghijsg, does this apply to the Octagon too or only round shapes? How did you get the video of your diamond?

Thank you all for the help! Anyway what do I have to look out for to distinguish between an ideal cut and a triple ex?

Since I was told that a triple ex is also an ideal cut.

You can tell by the proportions and scopes.
Triple exc just means that on the certificate, the Cut, Polish and Symmetry is graded 'Excellent'. The Super ideal cut and Ideal cut is also a triple exc because that is already the top grade on the cert.

You can say all Super ideal cut, Ideal cut, bad triple exc are all triple exc diamonds. But not all triple exc are Super ideal or Ideal cuts.

You see this video explanation

The better way to distinguish is with the ASET scope and not the certificate.
