I have been following this thread for some time to learn more about what to look out for diamonds. Few days ago, my Fiance & I picked up an Octagon diamond at JP.

I have not receive the scopes and images. Any expert here can give me some comments if this is a good buy?

I purchased my engagement ring with JP on 4 Feb and my specification is also the same as yours.

Mine is super ideal cut, 0.413 G VVS2
$2.7K for the diamond. Not include settings.

Just wait patiently for the scopes and image. They will send to you soon as I got mine few days back

From what I understand from the sales officer, she mentioned that they standardized the ring setting to two different category. 550 for the normal one, 1200 for rings with side diamonds.

25 side diamonds is abit too many imo, you wouldnt want the whole band to be filled with side diamond cause you cant resize the ring in future and when the bottom half of the setting gets into contact with tables and stuff, you wouldnt want the diamond to be knocked off.

the scope images got me excited to see the final product hehe. will update here when there's an update on my side. Now need to wait for the 3d design.

P.S : i also went to jp the day before with my friend & he got the octagon. Its worth to consider too.

i think up to 1.2k for the settings are the ones that were pre-designed that they carry.

if you want add more diamonds or even customise the ring, it might go up higher, especially if you want to have 25 side diamonds. Personally i think its overkill and it might make your core diamond dont stand out as much as you want it to.

My proposal ring is with side diamonds-split shank halo setting! I love it & my diamond specs was a 0.47, round brilliant, vs1, colour H & the fiance only paid $3,600!

I believe if you are getting a bigger carat, you should settle for the usual platinum so that the main focus is on the diamond cause for a smaller carat with side diamonds, it actually makes the ring looks bigger! hahaha

Also factor in the length and size of the missus fingers! (; Anyway, JP diamonds are legit good already regardless the specs haha!

Julie is good. She attended to me too. I went for the octagon instead of solasfera

I noticed that there is a feather inclusion at the edge of your diamond. Will the diamond have a higher chance of chipping/ breaking off since there is a feather=chip/fracture at the edge of the diamond? I think I read somewhere regarding this but am not too sure.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yea. Was worried about the feather inclusions too near the edge. However, Julie said she checked (with her colleagues I assumed) and that only feathers which cut across the girdle pose a risk for chipping off. She also assured me that JP ensures that their diamonds do not have a durability issue. I guess I shld be reassured?

Sure. Mine is a 0.718 octagon cut, F colour, VVS2. damage is 7.8k without setting.
