Do you guys haggle with jann Paul? Curious
Haha dint managed to haggle down the price under Jannpaul but they do give discounts for made available rings under HOH.

Quoted jp decagon 0.582, D, VVS1 for 5.8k

Is it good?
I got a decagon 0.685 G VVS1 for $6.7k. I think the price between 0.5-0.6 carat about there maybe if you want to save more can go down on the Color and clarity?

Got offered the following for 10.9k.

Is this worth it? The date of cert is in October, is it a source of concern as the I saw that the certs are usually within 1-3 months of post date? Thanks!

It's a good Decagon piece based on the cert! It's priced about there for that specs. For a high 0.87ct, it's worth it before it hits the next price jump in the 0.9ct. Cert date is still ok. You generally don't want the ones that are several years old to be safe. If in doubt, can always double check on the scopes.

Just realized someone replied. I see thanks! I doubt we can see much difference on the naked eyes right for clarity and color.

Clarity won't be able to see any difference. On their website they state,
  • All inclusions are 100% eye clean
  • No black inclusions
  • No risky or durability issues clarity characteristics (Eg. Knot, Chip, Cavity, Bruise, Indented Natural, Natural, Laser Grill Hole, Etch Channel, Internal Graining, Surface Graining, Feather on Girdles, Heavy Clouding (milky) or inclusion on surface of the diamond
Color will be very hard. When I saw their White Series cut, their G Color already looks whiter than a Super ideal cut E Color face front. Since it's cut to be much brighter already, it'll look whiter for its grade. For White Series, I think can consider lower color.

Decagon 0.62 E VVS2, CVD, Type IIA. Specs are top of the range and white series cut is the best. Congrats!

Hi all Shifus

would need your comments and feedback on this diamond ;)
https://agslab.com/ym-vdgr/en-us/diamonds/104111115006/grading-report

Went down for an appointment today and was recommended this actual stock rock for $8000 super ideal cut vvs1 D 0.71 . Salesperson said he is offering me a good deal of 2020 price.. and indeed the cert is dated 2020. Any issue with it since its 2020?

Was comparing this with a round and decagon 10 and surprisingly from far i notice this rock has a bigger chunk of fire but from near under different lighting both the round and decagon 10 has better light return coverage at the sides while 8HA looks darker. Any opinions?
Still waiting for them to send the aset scope image

thank you!

Hmm.. quite a hard call. $500 diff for abit bigger, higher color and lower clarity. I would prioritize the color over clarity since VVS1 and VVS2 won't be able to see a visual difference. If budget allows, I think $500 is justifiable for the bigger size. When you compared them, was the size difference obvious?

2020 ok la. That's just the date when the diamond was certified. If any issues, you can check the scopes anyway. That will be the best info.

I noticed you going for the top D VVS1 color/clarity combo. When I was there, I rem seeing the white series looking brighter for its color grade. Where the white series G color appeared brighter than the SIC E Color. They showed me outdoors back then and other some small corner place that had white lights. The white series is a better performer I feel and with a better cut, you don't really need to go for a higher color/clarity. To me, I feel the cut is more impt that the color/clarity.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, i did went down earlier today to compare again on the sic and white series. Eventually I’m sold on the Decagon  They reco me a Decagon 0.726 E VVS1 actual stock $8250, wanted to go for a lower colour/clarity and higher carat weight but none available and turn around time is going to be tight for my planned proposal in Nov. Somehow they quoted $7500-$8100 for custom cut given a supposedly lower spec.. so kind of makes sense to just get the one they have now.

changed my deposit to this following piece.
Shifus please help to see and input gumxia!

There's absolutely no reason to get any normal cut, or even SIC now. every cut they have in their White series, their Decagon, Round 10ha , Emerald, Oval, etc. flat out visually looks way way more stunning by miles under all lighting.

When I read -
''The AGS Light Performance cut grade system, along with the ASET technology, is a powerful technology that provides both insight and understanding into the optical phenomena that make diamonds beautiful. When utilized by master designers like Paul Hung, these technologies provide an ideal tool for innovating new designs that push the boundaries of what’s possible with light performance.

The JannPaul White Series diamond collection utilizes the AGS Laboratories light performance ray tracing technologies in combination with their own strict proprietary proportions and facet design to push the boundaries of how diamonds can be cut more brilliantly''.

Executive Director

I thought it was just marketing, when you go down and see them then you know why even AGS who is known for their highest cut parameters praises them.
