Hi guys.

Is this diamond good? Seek some experts here to help.

The Decagon cut is JP's white series range which is already filtered to be the best cuts already. It's gonna be super sparkly. I believe it's even stricter than their SICs. You can double check with the scope images. So far all the past white series scope images that the others posted are all very good.

My only comment is the clarity you guys chose is very high. VVS1 and IF. I feel dont really need such a high clarity since they already dont take in black inclusions or the other problematic ones. So technically, their VS1-VS2 is good enough liao.

BTW JP allow you all to take the specs of the diamond before comitting?

U pay deposit, they send u the specs after the diamond arrives 2-3 months later, you consider/compare for awhile then go back to them?

Hello! Based on my experience: you place a deposit first to confirm you want to custom cut the diamond. Once the diamond is ready, they will inform you to go down to the store to take a look, if it is not to your expectation, you can reject it and wait for the next one. I have not rejected any diamonds from JP but from what I feel, it seems like you can keep rejecting until you find ‘the one’

Yeah thats my understanding too. Coz i was thinking people here are showing the specs of JP diamond.

I wonder if they paid fully to have the specs taken out to show here.

May I ask for your thoughts on this Diamond specification? And should I consider getting 1 carat one (if available and budget permits) or is this good enough / just a matter of personal preference? It's a White Series.

And any particular concern that this is AGS certified, and not GIA? Thanks!!

Shape and style : Round modified brilliant
Measurement: 5.69 - 5.71 x 3.55m
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Light performance/Polish/Symmetry: AGS Ideal 0
Colour Grade: (F) AGS 1.0
Clarity Grade: (IF) AGS 0
Carot Weight: 0.714 cts

They only showed me the full specs with the cert after my diamond finished custom cutting and ready for viewing. Then I can still decide whether I want it or not. I think the people show showing the specs of JP diamond is either after their order has finished cutting then deciding to confirm it or one of those rare ones available that they have in stock. The last I was there, I they only had the white series left in the 0.4cts.

Is that their Round 10HA? AGS is actually a better cert than GIA. GIA's cut grade is very loose whereas AGS is stricter. Their cut grade has Ideal > Excellent > etc. Plus they got grade the light performance. GIA doesnt do light performance grading.

I was at SK Jewellery last weekend, Their Allove 10 hearts 10 arrows series seems very bling and quite nice - having promotion rate as they are clearing stock. Anyone bought this one? Or it's actually better to just go to JP get lower clarity at almost same price but better standards?

AGS is better than GIA for many reasons. People just don’t do it cause most jewellers are drop shippers so most floating market goods are GIA. It’s also more expensive to certify with AGS (platinum light reports).

The Alllove that is a Round 10 hearts and arrows too that was trying to copy the Solafera (another round 10 hearts and arrows that JP used to sell). Then JP further improved it to come up with the new White Series range. The White Series is a better cut and Allove doesnt have the ASET scope. You're better off with JP for their better cut and technology.

Thanks for your reply. Another question, is 0.77 and 0.85 visually different? If same cut and same setting? I am wondering if it is worth it to pay about 3k more for the bigger carat?

Thanks for the reply regarding AGS vs GIA.

quick question - is it worth getting a 0.9 carat over a 0.7 carat ring? Is the difference in size a lot more noticeable? The price jump is also very steep..

And is there hardly any difference between a 0.7 vs 0.8? size wise. Haha..

0.77 to 0.85 I think the visual difference won't be by that much. 0.77 is the upper range in the 0.7ct already. Difference is 0.08ct. As the bigger you go, the more carat weight you need to have to see the difference. Eg. A 0.05ct difference between a 0.41 and 0.46 is more obvious than a 0.71 and 0.76. If it was me, I'd save and choose the 0.77.

0.9 and 0.7 is a tough call. Size wise it will definitely be noticeable. But I believe the price would be also very different. It depends on your setting design too. Like if you choose those setting with halos, side stones or with small diamonds around your main diamond, it will already make your rock look bigger. So these kinda designs, you can get away with smaller sizes and it will still look very big.

Something like this. Taken off from JP's instagram. They have alot of designs on their insta to get inspiration from.

Decagon in the 0.5ct+ higher specs is $4kish already. For $5k G VS1 range, it shouldn't be a problem. I think you can get higher specs than that too.

Went to JP recently and really went through JP crash course on diamond.

Paid deposit to reserve a round diamond, WS 0.65 G VVS2 as it was within my budget, but im not sure if i should wait out for a 0.6x Decagon with slightly higher spec as the one i reserved as the only decagon available then was a 0.4x. the earliest shipment for 0.6x Deca will be in 3-4 months time.
There was also a 0.77 D round diamond WS available, but the sales rep was recommending the 0.65 as it was within my budget.

Sales rep mention can always change the diamond if i changed my mind later.

What do the seniors here think about this?

Diamond prices have gone up recently till Aug, not sure about Sep. So if you wait for the Decagon, there's a chance you have to pay for the price increase as JP charge based on whenever they procure the diamonds. So whatever is in their inventory should technically be lower. You can ask them about this possibility.

But more importantly, does ur GF want round or decagon? haha
