Since you have an aim, go look at which universities offer a MSc in forensic psychology or something close to that since NTU/NUS are research base and after the academic path, i think counseling is the next most common type of MSc programme offered.

Hi, I would like a few opinions about the dilemma I'm facing right now. I'm currently in NS, and I wish to pursue my Bachelors in psychology when I ORD. I would like to do something that can help me when I push to become a lecturer in psychology after I complete my studies. Problem is, I don't know where to further my studies.

My future plans are to move outta SG and preferably to the States. I was considering studying in the States so that I could work my way to a PR there while studying and working. The problem is, I do not know where to get my degree from. I had a few places in mind like NY but the cost is sky high, and I do have a friend in Cali. She passed me a few links to unis over there, but I'm afraid of committing to one as I do not know if it's a recognised uni. Also, cost being a huge factor, I do not know how I'm to obtain the money. I do not really come from a well to-do family but I would like to study my degree, and definitely cost isn't gonna deter me from doing otherwise.

Another option for me is to do it in SG. I do know UniBuffalo is offering Bachelors of Arts, and that's a real option for me as it is a uni from the States; It would fit the bill for me to study there. I do know there are other unis here offering BSc of Arts, and the turn off for me is the cost to study at UniBuffalo. I just don't know if I should go for it, or look at other places.

At the end of the day I would like to ensure I'm able to go abroad with the cert that I have. I just don't know if I should do it in SG or do it immediately in the States. I would love to hear opinions about this. Thank you in advance, mates.

I've recently graduated from CQU and am now taking my postgraduate diploma from Monash. Patryn was right about locals not caring much about CQU's cert but why I chose it was 'cos it gave me THE most exemptions (which equals a huge monetary discount almost equivalent to 10K!). However, the accreditation led me to being eligible to applying for Monash's PGD.

I'm just gonna share what I know about Australian psychology degrees k?

The thing is, if you're thinking about furthering your studies, the potential postgraduate school you're thinking of joining won't REALLY bother where ur undergraduate degree came from but they'd more likely look at your grades. To be eligible for a GO8 university's honours or PGD (4th year program) to date, you'll need at least a HD avg. (85%)for honours and a Distinction (75%) for the PGD (Pls do check their websites to varify this information). For the masters and PHD program, it is the same, they'll be looking at at least a Distinction average in the 4th year results. For non - GO8 schools it's on a case to case basis. In my opinion, whether it's GO8 or not, usually accredited programs have a rigorous training program since they have to adhere to the accrediting body's requirements.

The main problem is if your undergraduate degree is not accredited by APAC(see http://www.apac.psychology.org.au/). If it's not accredited, you might have to do more foundation modules when u try to take postgraduate studies, which will waste precious time and money. Thus, I advise AGAINST unisim due to this fact. BUT if you're thinking of stopping at a bachelor degree and wish to work in S'pore alone; not interested in working overseas AT ALL, then take unisim's psychology degree by all means. But do take into consideration that unisim's psychology degree is self developed by the school and is a relatively new course. Insofar, even NUS or NTU 4 year bachelor degree program graduates, have to take the APAC accredited 4th year (honours or PGD) before they can further their studies in Australia.

Also, I have to highlight that it's not correct that Unisim graduates can get their degrees accredited in Australia. Only if their degree is accredited when they are taking it, is it considered accredited. Otherwise, it's not. It's not like you can go there to get it stamped or smthin.

You sure about that ? it is a boring vocation just keep taking records and interviewing the criminals all day. Worst of all, if they ever get nasty you can't fight back, the prison wardens will be the ones restraining the criminals.

Hi guys, I have the same question as chocolatebars. Which is better, murdoch or edith cowan? Is it possible for me to use the degree from either university to apply for the postgraduate diploma offered by JCU? I am trying not to apply for JCU first as it is rather costly for its bachelor degree. Thanks guys.
