any must eat food to recommend guys?

so far i ate b4 pak putra tandoori chicken, the chicken rice balls, the sun mei hiang pork satay, nancy kitchen, makko nyona, satay celup

Not must eats since different people different taste buds, but these are the other popular ones:

Nyonya dumplings (Lorong Hang Jebat), Jonker 88 cendol and asam laksa, ondeh ondeh near junction of Jalan Hang Jebat and Jalan Hang Kasturi.

If you like Klang Bak Kut Teh, there's one near Donald & Lily Nyonya Restaurant, diagonally across the big junction. I've to go look for the name card if you want the address.

The traffic is so bad on weekends, I recommend walking. Stay at a strategic place where you can cut up your trips to shorter walks interspaced with food and drinks breaks.

Adding to beanstalk6's reply, where are you planning to stay, and roughly which areas are you planning to visit?

I normally stay within very short distance from Jonker, which allows me to walk as far as The Shore with a break along the shophouses if required, Mahkota Parade with a break in Dataran Pahlawan, etc. For further destinations like Aeon Bandaraya, I use Grab Taxi though making sure not to go into crowded Jonker if I return on a weekend - stop somewhere further and walk over to Jonker instead.

Good advice. Personally i believe most people come to malacca to experience the jonker street. The food, the nonya museum, the experience. If staying near shopping malls, it will be damn troublesome to walk to jonker. To be frank the shopping malls are just average, i rather stay at jb for better mall experience. Usually i will stay at hotel puri which is inside the jonker street. Early morning wakeup can walk to the dim sum shop at jonker street, lunch time can walk to chendol 88/ chicken rice ball/ nancy, afternoon can walk to shopping mall and relax, dinner can walk to jonker pasa malam to eat.

But that's just me, everybody have their own personal preference

Went to melacca last month and stayed in The Pines.

Very new hotel...We paid quite a fair bit (200 plus) for the room as we opted for executive premier with balcony. The toilet itself was gorgeous... a cool bathtub that could be shifted (a bit, not like 360-degree) and rain shower. The bed was a bit on the soft side (depend on individual cos I am used to hard bed). THE BEST THING IS THE BALCONY... it overlooked melacca and just so amazing! The breakfast was so-so...

We managed to explore walking from The Pines to Jonker Street... There are shuttle buses which you need to book to send you down to Jonker Street and somewhere else... The food was great... Oh, if you all dont mind the "poo" water splashing onto your face ... you can go for the river cruise.

Back from malacca. Stayed at hatten. Thanks to one of the bros here mentioning to park at lvl3,6,9. Doesn't take long to wait for the lift. Overall it's good trip. I missed the a&w rnr though when coming back from KL. 😔

Did you go to the A&W that's across the road from Hatten Hotel, in Dataran Pahlawan mall? :)

Depend on what you want to do there? shopping/eating/jonker walk? If going malacca is to go jonker walk, can stay around there. If shopping and eating, can try hotel like Hatten or Estadia. Driving or taking coach bus?

Coach bus. Looking at RC hotel but no fridge and is small.
Go there eat, walk walk.

RC hotel is good for jonker walk and nearby food. If there is no elderly or kids, i suggest that you can try Hatten or Estadia. Can walk to jonker walk, next to shopping, near good food like tong sheng, tim ho wan, caffe bene, Starbucks and alot more. And if you buy coach ticket that board from hotel back to SG, Hatten and Estadia have coach bus bay that you can board from there to return to SG.

I've walked past RC Hotel a few times and thought it's a nice place for a couple of nights. Someone here has stayed there a couple of times and recommends it too. No fridge? Strange then...

Have you considered Casa del Rio? There's definitely a fridge in the room coz I love to buy boxes of cut guava from the pasar malam to store in the fridge for weekday snacking. Pretty decent-sized bedroom and bathroom too.

A&W got three counter but only one counter open for order/serving. Service is slow

I've walked past it a few times and have never actually seen a crowd in there. Always have the feeling that demand for A&W isn't really high these days, as the one in Bukit Indah (JB) also doesn't seem so hot.
