Could it be teething problem? I was still regretting not booking Hatten cos last weekend i stayed at The Explorer Hotel instead. The rooms at Explorer was just too tiny for comfort althought everything was new. The good thing was, parking and check in/out was a breeze.
But becos the room was so small, I was tell myself to try Hatten next trip.

If you say service, yes that can be improved.

But hardware? Not really. So many things not working during their soft opening, i wonder how well maintained hatten will be few years down the road.

Don't quite like the decor too, corridor lights were white, and a mixture of white and orange lights in the room. Makes the hotel feel cheap compared to equatorial.

And there are rooms facing each other. Open the curtains and you can see another room windows. Not much privacy huh.

mmm... bro u always travel up? i just came back from penang trip this wkend. SG -> PG stayed 2 nights den PG - Malacca stay 1 night and back to SG.

Travel time SG to penang around 6hrs plus driving ard 140km.
Malacca up to Penang should be ard 4hrs plus to 5hrs. If u wana chiong 180km den need to becareful.

Quite rush imo. alot of time spend on road, den chk in, chk out etc. might be better to do 2 places instead of 3.

Hm.. not really. Normally i drive up to genting/KL only. ard 15 trips so far.

As for malacca, been there ard 3 times, just day trip morning up, evening back.

Penang nvr drive up b4.

Anyway slight change to my plan, due to friend having to work half day on sat.

Will just be heading str up to KL on sat noon n stay 2 night. while at Kl might consider day trip to penang or petling jaya.

last day, which is mon. will stop over at malacca for lunch then jb for massage, petrol n car wash n back to sg!!!

hopefully no jam..

back from my stay at venus hotel.

Hotel review:
- walking distance to Dataran Pahlawan, maybe 5mins?

- got a night market right outside the hotel. Less touristy than jonker, most of the folks there look like locals. Tons of "cheong" soccer jerseys and sports wear going at 2 for 25RM. That is like $5 per piece. Needless to say, i got a few... :p

- Hotel is expanding to the units next to it, so you would hear noises in the daytime. Its ok for me, since im out eating all the time...

- Free carpark under the bridge. My car was safe, maybe small suzuki swift, no one interested.

- Room was small, hardly got place to put my shopping stuff. But bed was comfy and the room is clean. Air con is individually controlled too.

- Service: none. No sweet smiles for guests or bell boy, this is a small hotel.. No swimming pool, no spa, restaurant, etc... But u can always walk over to Holiday Inn they have everything. Just cross 2 roads!

Foodwise, ate the usual crepe, mee sua, dim sum, etc. Found an auntie selling "chwee kuay" in jonker street. Wife had read that she is the few who still sell chwee kuay. THe kuay is like the size of a bowl and you can choose "salty" or "sweet" flavour. Its damn nice!

To look out for her, u gotta roam the streets at jonker in the morning. She operates from a push cart and is easily identified with the empty bowls.

Hi All, need your advice. Will be driving up to Melaka on 9 Nov.

Currently deciding between either Prima Hotel or Aldy Hotel. Can I check between the 2, which is nearer to Jonker St (Night Market Street) and which is safer for parking ?

Many Thanks~!

Quite far.. 2.3KM but kinda near to Dataran Pahlawan shopping mall

Hotel 906 Good price for Melaka ..
Standard Room Breakfast included $64

Near Mahkota MC but quite far from Jonker for walking...

I suggest the following (similar price) and at Jonker street
Mini Sayang Residence but not really posh though...

for overall Melaka recommendation it's Equatorial Melaka very convenient and solid breakfast .. downstairs u get local food, shopping, Scottish Food (Mac Donalds) and even popular Nyonya food..etc.. can walk to Jonker too

and Stylo hotel Hatten Hotel Melaka

just came back from a 2D 1N malacca trip. stayed at equatorial.. not bad the room, got balcony and have quite a nice view. they have a open carpark and a basement carpark, i think its generally quite safe.

checked out and drove to the nonya area for lunch, after that i parked at hatten hotel, first 2 hours is 2RM i think then sub hour is only 1RM. if park at those open area need to buy coupons, i see many cars kena summon.

parking coupons very cheap, RM6 one booklet, 60c per hour. hatten square carpark goes up to 9floor, very huge but quite empty the mall.. not much space being taken up. they using touch and go card for the carpark also, so quite easy to park there.

i drove around jonker area, loop a few rounds lol very hard to park, i park at the illegal street for a while and saw many cars kena summon for RM100. LOL.

that's all folks. :D

you can park at hatten hotel, equatorial hotel, melaka megamall, mahkota parade, all quite nearby each other and all linked.. around 15 mins walking distance to jonker.

jonker area is damn hard to find carpark lots, suggest u take a cab or walk. if u're unsure, just loop a few rounds the area and u'll realize it will bring u back to the same place, then after that u roughly know how to drive...

Understand Jonker street could get very conjested during weekend. Better park car and take a cab... easier but when going back to hotel, it might be headache as catching cab maybe :)quite an effort

there will be cabs at the san shu gong area, just that i think they all already pre agreed on the price. was quoted $20 to go back to equatorial. asked a few cabs and all same price.
