It sounds like a bios issue leh, go update ur mobo bios to the latest one with ur previous card. Reset CMOS and try again.

W2252TQ on dvi-d single link. Never heard of monitor compatibility problem.

Might be possible. Last night I watched JayzTwoCents review on R9 290x Tri-X 8GB, he mentioned the card had issues running his Acer monitor.

Ok just got my pc back from the repair shop, apparently the repair guy said it is a faulty pci-e slot that is unable to work with x16, so it can work with lower tier graphic card.

I seriously do not get it, windows loads up fine but there is no screen. I seriously suspect it might be a monitor compatibility issue. Thoughts?

I don't want to spend my money to overhaul my motherboard, processor and ram. :(

I suggest u bring it to SLS, #02-32, PC Care & Solutions. Let nigel take a look. If all of ur pciex16 slots dun work, then the mobo might be faulty le. Try updating BIOS?

The repair guy updated the bios, he did say that the mobo is faulty. Is it possible that all lanes x16 not working for no reason? And wouldn't the pc be unable to boot if the graphics card cannot be detected?

Just to be sure, ur cpu is i5-2500k? It has igpu? U can try booting with igpu only.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I changed a new motherboard and there is display now, so it is most likely a fault in the motherboard. Oh well, lesson learnt: don't save on motherboard.
