Hello, i am back to this thread. Thinking of going Tokyo in 2014 spring, somewhere ard end of cherry blossom period becos dun wan squeeze with the crowds.

Jus wanted to check anyone also going during this period? Wish to semi-travel together, i am scared to travel alone, yet wish to experience travel alone.

I am interested in tokyo, hakone, fuji lake and disneyland!!!

The furthest I traveled alone was to JB HelloKitty Land, but also not really alone, becos it's the groupon one, with a grp of other pple. Is this counted?

I am going 2nd wk of May because there is a Vesak Day holiday! I decided to skip Golden Week cos I went twice during this period already and post Golden Week is less hectic. I like the weather in May, the flowers are in bloom during this season too.

This time I am going alone! Hahhaa this is my 2nd Solo trip and I think this get addictive travelling on my own! I haven decide where to go though.

Yup, I believe that Golden Week 2014 is in the 1st week of May. That said, I actually been to Japan during Golden Week twice, and I think it was pretty alright still but then again I am in the Tokyo area but I heard that transport out frm Tokyo is such a nightmare. And oh yes, the amusement theme parks are all so crowded too!

I think I might cut short on Tokyo and focus on other regions, so maybe just 1-2 days in Tokyo for shopping only! Actually for those of us traveling on our own in Apr/May 2014 or watever other period, maybe we can meet up before the trip to exchange travel tips and pointers. A few years back, I actually got to know a Singaporean forum member on another travel forum, and we keep PM/Email each other to exchange travel tips and plans. It was really fun and cos we happened to travel in the same duration, we actually meet up one another to do a day trip in Japan! Til this day, we still kept in contact ^^

Tokyo is generally safe and if you get lost or in trouble, just head to a police box (kouban) at any big traffic junction.

If you really scared something go wrong, i can pm you mine or my wife's Japanese cellphone number and you can just call or LINE us if you get into trouble in Tokyo.

I know Japan is a safe country and i not scared to get intro trouble, becos i very guai one.

Oh! I am also a solo female traveler and I am so inspired by other fellow female frens who went to Japan on their own and it took me this long to finally embark on my solo trip earlier this mth! Japan is really safe and if you are just going about in the Tokyo area, I think you really have nothing to worry about!

Hmmmm just activate a data plan, you can update status and check-in locations on FB if you feel like it, so that your Flist knows where you are. And you can always Google Map your way to any location you are going!
