Guys, I have given up using the Wifi and bought a Homeplug.
Jchoong, may I know what color signal did you get for your Homeplug when u use your 4 across socket?
I am getting "red" all the way.

Sorry, dont understand your question. What color signal are youbreferring to? Which model homeplugs did you purchase?

Ok,understand your question now. Of course you should get green on your receiving homeplug. Looks like your plugs are not properly paired.

My receiving homeplug is a hub and also capable of gigabit transmissiin as I have several devices connected to it.

Hi Jchoong, both my plugs(one connected to main wall plug, the other for my Pi 2 via 4 across socket) are showing red. I have changed my 4 across plug to a main wall plug and its both in "Green" now. Am happy with the setup and had no issues over the weekend.
I guess Homeplugs are the way to go.

Unless they are significantly cheaper, why won't you buy from the authorised shops eg Element 14?
Cyber mind selling at $55 which is about the same price and I don't wan to buy from element 14 as I prefer a physical shop over a online shop. Cyber mind is also an approved reseller.

element 14 used to be called Farnell Components, a very large MNC based in UK. It's not any tom,dk or harry online company, like many.

Same goes for RS Components.

Long before internet was invented, they were already supplying parts and components to many companies.

Just fyi. :)

At $55 there is hardly any risks. Buy from the shop that you are comfortable with.

As a comparison, I also bought another android box S82, with similar specs, ARM A7, quad core. It costs about US$70 from aliexpress.
It comes with ethernet, wifi, 2 usb ports, OTG, remote control, power adapter.

I realize buying all the extras with Pi can add up quite a bit, compared to a android box. It also can't be powered on/off by remote control, unlike android box. Pi can only be set to switch off setting a timer. There is no on/off switch.

Android box can run apk besides Kodi. I think Pi can only run Kodi without a lot of hassles, but Kodi itself is very full featured.
Unless, you're watching chinese movies/drama, Kodi is more than enough.

RPi is good for hackers or those who want to experiment.

If the objective is to watch movies, it is cheap and better to buy android box. Now you can get a good powerful AML S805 android box from Aliepxress for US$40.

With S805 chip, you can run 1080p H.265 in kodi.

I have stopped buying the China made Android boxes as their firmwares are poorly written. And before they are able to optimise the firmware, a new model is being released.

My main interest is in Kodi and OpenElec is the most enjoyable experience.
