I would want to hear more about negativity of the razer keyboards, in particular mechanical keyboards

With the upcoming CES razer sale, the price are tempting.

it's not bad, but there are better options. Corsair keyboards are also feature packed and better built.

Simple, the newer Razor keyboards(at least for blackwidow) are using the cheaper kailh switches instead of the usual cherry mx

Edit: My bad, not even Kailh switches but their own switches

I learnt my lesson. Never to buy razer crap again. I got mamba, deathadder, diamondback, lycosa, sc2 headset. ALL of them died exactly after 1 year.

Do yourself a favour, get the k70 mech kb. Brushed aluminum, way better and looks awesome

I have a razer sc2 mouse, naga red, deathadder all died several times or died just nice after a year. Gave up, use R.A.T 7 instead. No regrets.

The problem with Razer mechanical keyboards is not the keyboard itself but the Synapse software.

I had a problem with certain keys not registering on my Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth and at first assumed it was a hardware problem. I was prepared to swap out the Cherry switches but on a hunch decided to try out different firmwares to see if that would resolve the problem. The keyboard promptly died - no lights, does not register in Windows or BIOS. Bricked.

At that point, I was sorely tempted to chuck the thing out the window but I really like the keyboard. Solidly built with beautiful blue LED lighting.

Took me a while to figure out how to unbrick the keyboard and then downgrade the firmware to a pre-Synapse version. In the course of doing that research, I realized that it could be Synapse that was causing all the problems.

When I built my current PC last month, I was very careful not to install Synapse. I use the default Win 7 drivers and the keyboard has been working perfectly since - no more problems with key strokes not registering.

I did lose the ability to use customized macros (since that required Synapse) but it is a small price to pay for a functioning keyboard.

I think it depends on the intensity of the usage.. I've been using razer mice for awhile now. Even all my older diamondbacks are still working and are being used by older computers. I've never encountered a spoiled razer mouse before other than the buttons losing its click responsiveness. (after arnd 3 years of usage)

actually when i was studying back then,

i play dota on wc3 almost everyday, it last only 1 year 1 mth,

really depends on your usage, my friend who had a launchesis back then same as me, still working because he don't really game alot, mainly use for surfing etc..not much clicking like how we had played dota / dota 2

then nvr had a gaming mouse since then , using optical spoiling them 1 / year was much cheaper

my 2cents

using k70 corsair ( non rgb version red cherry mx switch )

cos i wanted the play button LOL i play music when i game so that is a impt feature for me, really depends what you wan and tactile feedback etc..

go down to simlim and try it your self

please do take note that razer is not using cherry mx switches

they are using their in-house switches

Ducky is along the line of a gaming mech keyboard. More like DAS and Flico though. Go change the keycaps to PBT doubleshot from GMK, damn shiok clacks.

Ditto, my Diamondback, 1st-gen Deathadder, and Tarantula are all still working fine.
