Thank you, Henry Ng and Felixthecat for your replies.

I'm still kinda hesitant using a modem and leaving it on throughout the day for my phone line. How is the speed of SH's 25Mbps? How is also the quality of their phone line?

Just called ST hotline today and they are still offering 15Mbps at $29.90. The CSO even proudly told me it's $7 off the usual price of $36.90, plus free 7.2Mbps mobile broadband. I told him straight that SH has 25Mbps for only $24.90. :s22:

ST really don't bother keeping their customers. :( Ask for rebate they told me no rebate.

Saw this from Starhub's website:
Service-Related Charges

Installation $53.50 per hardware
Delivery $12.84 per trip to the same service address
Service Activation $42.80 per line
Service Call $53.50 per trip
Activation of Value-Added Services $10.70 per Value-Added Service
Golden Number Selection $415.16 per number
Silver Number Selection $94.16 per number
Disconnection $32.10 (if subscription is less than 3 months)
Reconnection $16.05
Number Change $32.10
Telephone Wiring $64.20
Installation of Cable Point $107 – $155.15 per point

This is for their home line. Wah so many different charges ah? For their broadband users do they need to pay any of those?

For internet they do not bother to keep customer but for hand phone they do give voucher to attract the customer to stay. I suggest u check with SH on the charges.

My contract with ST is ending in Jun. I understand that if I were to switch to SH 25Mbps, I need a router for wireless access. Does SH recommend any router to get? If not, can someone recommend which router to get and the cost cos I am not very techky.

Thanks.

U can visit SH website for detail and I think they do give out their own modem and router.

Everything just flops. SH didn't honour what they promised over email and telephone. I will be without contract, without BB from next week onwards, until a time I decide whether I want to move to M1, Myrepublic or back to ST. I have already terminated my BB with ST and SH services and sales person sucks. TOTAL REGRET!!!! NEVER SIGNUP VIA 1630! or anything verbal, they NEVER HONOUR. And I wasted $107 for cable point installation.

That's the price you pay for convenience from home.
I make it a point to sign face to face, any promises written on contract paper, regardless whatever salespeople say it's understood in promo, or not necessary, or cannot write extras on contracts, nonsense.

Just sign up with SH broadband 100Mbps for $39.90 and they are giving free Chromebook.

Will terminate my current ST broadband 10Mbps@$23 as the retention dept pinoys can only offer 'chilli crabs'.

Hope not. I paid $107 cash. Technician came with just the cable modem and there was no mention of Free TV Lite and he also didn't come with HD Set top box as promised over email and telephone. And its so hard trying to get through 1633 and twice 1633 customer services said they will get sales person to return call about their promises, but they never did until quite late and technician already left. Before technician left, he also called back to office twice to get their sales person to call me. Still, no return call, then tehcnician left w/o installing and he said as long as he didn't log in, it is considered a no-signup.

When sales person called back much later, long after technician left, I cancelled my signup request when that lady told me I didn't request for TV lite. OMG! I specifically requested for it over email and telephone and moreover its a promotional thing for new customers, even if I didn't request, shouldn't they provide since their flyer and website mentioned it?

So, I hope my cancelling the signup request through 1630 will not impose any charges. You know, sometimes, they never tell you and then there comes the bill.

I ever went to 2 different SH outlet, at least a total of 3 or 4 times and was quite put off by the counter staff and I ended up not signing up there. After speaking to the technician yesterday, he assured me its easily to install, so I might just try again. Go outlet signup, collect modem and do it myself, but with my bad experiences with SH staff so so so many times, I'm not sure if I can rely on them for good service like ST. Maybe I am really that unlucky.

If I move BB to SH, then I won't port my ST home line to SH anymore after all the problem and might port back my SH mobile to ST.

I remember last time cable point installation is $107 + $30 transport for first point. Additional point is $107.

Actually you don't have to go to starhub shop to sign up. Can go to any authorised partner shops near your place to sign up. But I'm not sure whether do they have STB for the TV Lite. You might want to call and check. Also check whether is there any other charges such as registration fee, activation fee, etc.

Very unlucky. When signing up a contract always ask: Can u tell me what is included in this package? To let the CSO commit what is in it. If he missed any thing just remind him that by saying: I am suppose to have XXX. Before u sign do check that every thing is correct. The CSO must be new so he screwed up.

I tell you, they will sure slap me with a bill since I cancel signup. Cable point installation goes with the signup, so if cancel signup...hah...sure get at least a transport charge, don't know whether got cancellation fine or not - these blood suckers.

Their website and flyer says "Free Activation and Installation worth $85.60", what do you think that means? Free registration fee too?

I listed everything I will get and the fee I have to pay, through email, yet still don't honour.

I don't know who's head to knock, mine or theirs, sigh. So so so so unlucky
