Re-contract Singnet 10 Mbps?

Just received the $31.90 deal letter.

Unfortunately, the offer only lasts until the end of this month.

Dont know whether it is better to take it up or to wait for Sitex deal.

For those who go for the cheapest Internet package, the price has gone up from $21(adsl) to $32(fibre). That's about 50% inflation in 5 years.

There is no longer adsl plan and $21/mth plan is no longer valid for recontract. Some more adsl is not the same as fibre so we can not compare an apple with an orange although they are both fruit. So the saying that there is an increase in price is not valid too. Since day 1 of fibre broadband the price has been going down. For example, M1 1Gbps plan was $300+ but now price dropped more than 85%, only at $39. In fact adsl is more expensive as u only have 10 Mbps so it cost $2.10 per Mbps. At this rate 20Mbps will cost $42/mth which is more expensive than M1 200M at $29/mth.

Such saying that the baseline has went up is not correct too. For example in the earlier day we have 12Gb of 3g data for our phone. When telcom replaced 3g with 4g our data was reduce to 2Gb and later M1 increase our data to 3Gb. Some of us say our data got eaten up by telecom. But after using 4g for sometime i finally notice the benefit of a faster connection via 4g. Since you are such a light user, may be you can try using your handphone mobile broadband to surf. You can cancel your home broadband. Actually ST has been very nice by allowing u to continue with your existing plan. With just a handful of adsl user, ST can actually do away with the service.

True that everyone want to save $ but without compromise the service too much. Honestly nowadays many applications are bandwidth hungry. For example you want to watch toggle on your smart tv which some one is watching a movies online using a com. It will be very tough for a 3Mbps bandwidth so it will keep lagging or can not watch at all. You will waste lots of time waiting while downloading a file and ttime is $. At the end of the day, you get what you paid. Any way 200Mbps at $29 is rreasonable price and that's the reason why many people rushed for it.

Pretty reliable and don't really require much bandwidth for my current needs, maybe in the future when more stuffs require more bandwidth I suppose..

Agree, I was on Singnet 15 mb till sometime in Apr when I decided to upgrade to 1gb - when I worked from home, connecting to the company's intranet & servers was ridiculously slow..

With 1 gb, it's so much better..

What is the issue about? Have you tried sending them email over the singtel website or Facebook?

Under the fibre package, Singtel only provides 1 optical fibre phone.

For calls, you can choose to either to keep the current analog phone line or choose to migrate to a fibre phone line. There are no additional quarterly charges using either option.

All calls made with the optical line are free, but if you choose to keep the analog line, then you will be charged the current call rates for all calls.

My family doesnt get many calls so the monthly charges will not be significant. But I do enjoy having the convenience of having a phone line in each room. My aged parents wont have to walk upstairs or downstairs just to receive/make a call. Old folks who rush to pick up phone calls will have a higher risk of falling down the stairs.

So I opted to keep the analog phone line for calls so that we can continue to have a phone in each room.

At the same time, Internet access will now change from ADSL to fibre broadband with this new package.

how about using the digital voice phone but use a cordless phone? unless your phone signal coverage cannot cover your home upstairs

If the cordless phone handset is left downstairs and they forgot to bring it upstairs, when the phone rings, they'll still kancheong and rush downstairs.

That's when the old folks risk of falling down the stairs.

With the current analog phone extension setup in every room, they can answer the call in any room.

you can still re-route the telephone lines to only circulate within your house. so when your digital line receives a call, all the rooms will ring together.. you need a contractor to do this for you by disconnecting the line outside at the riser.

I regret re-contracting with singtel, re-contracted from 200mbps to 300mbps but they do not want to provide me with dual-band router, as my router was old version (DSL7000GRV) which does not support dual-band. Singtel policy for re-contract is as long as your current router able to support your fibre plan speed, you'll not be eligible to get a new router...

is so UNFAIR to treat a re-contract customer like us (had been with singtel for donkey years) , furthermore 300mbps newly signed customer are eligible for dual-band router, WHY does re-contract customer do not enjoy this privilege ?

Had been asking and chasing Singtel for 1 month plus, keep on dragging me, pushing me around, no return of calls, end up had to call singtel call centre (wait and wait) , went down to Singtel boutique store (staff over there say they are unable to help me, I was like ???? did I went into the wrong store? ) and 1month later they offered us to upgrade to 500mbps in-order to get a dual-band router? what kind of offer is this where 300mbps newly sign up customer get to enjoy a dual-band router? and we do not...

Well I guess singtel should fine tune the policy a bit to allow people like you falling into the cracks be exalted..

Have you tried telling them that your existing router is not dual band? I know the stringent policy is in place but usually they will allow a change in equipment by goodwill.. I only heard of people not granted the change of identical model just cos of its 2 years old.. but never heard of people like you not granted an upgrade of router despite upgrading speed plan..
