Anybody ever engaged a driver for one day trip from taipei to Taichung, and back to Taipei at night before. Roughly how much are we expecting to pay?

think is better to book separate driver in taipei and taichung

eh the route normally starts with yehliu then keelung, jiufen, shifen, jgs, shifen waterfall, yingyanghai, etc...
sometimes we went to toufu street, sometimes zhen keng....
haha we 4pax 3500ntd
mayb urs more ppl, tats y more expensive ...

have contacted few drivers last time in taichung, they charges 3800ntd like that

sometimes its not about the rates but ther services they provided. some drivers have small cars and some drivers drives big cars.so rates differs from between 3500 to 5000. it also depends on how many pax.

if you take HSR to & fro cost about 3500nt in total for 3pax (about 30mins ride). Cost half only if take normal rail (Traveling time almost same as taxi).

Should be able to get Taichung driver (Standard yellow cab Toyata wish) at 3000-3500.

If take HSR + a 3000nt per day driver. Overall your cost is cheaper by 2500 for 3 days. And u got like 2 hours more if travel by HSR.

I met this Taichung taxi driver that mentioned he charged only 3000 per day for his service (that was after i told him i am paying 3500/day for my 2 days driver that i engaged)

i didn't engage him. just happen to take his cab in Taichung and have a quick chat with him..

he just looks like typical cab driver of taiwan (40 to 50yrs old)

Noticed that many of you are looking for taichung drivers... So here's a post i did a while back. I just came back from my 2nd trip to taiwan after engaging him again, still strongly recommend him! We met with typhoon season this round and he bought with raincoats for us when it was raining. My mum enjoyed conversing with him as well.

I went Taiwan in 2014 dec period with 3 others and hired Simon(+886 986 712 971) for 7 days. Very satisfied with his service; he is a young guy and was very nice and friendly. I went to Taichung > sun moon lake> cing jing> hualian > Taipei> Keelung.

He helped us with our itinerary and bought snacks for us on some days. Was very thoughtful; he help us contact the minsu owner before we arrived to make sure we can check in smoothly, and helped us take pictures. Also gave us a phone for us to contact him easier(but I bought data so it was not really used in my case). Car was very comfortable and clean. Can sit up to 7.He brought us up to yangmingshan at night to see night view and have a drink, ambience was very nice.

Price was reasonable ,$4500-$5000 per day depending distance. Strongly recommend him and hiring him again when I head to Taiwan this year to explore the southern part of Taiwan. He has whatsapp so it's easy to contact him.
