I have engaged Andy Pan (Whatsapp:+886986669990) for my taiwan trip last year too. I feel that he is responsible and approachable. He is also flexible when it comes to itinerary planning. As it is not my first trip to taiwan, and we do not want to re-visit some places that we visited in our previous trips. We spent a total of 9 days with him getting to know more about taiwan lifestyle, take awesome photos, enjoyed sightseeing and of course shopping at shopping districts and night markets. For our trip, we covered taipei, Yilan, miaoli, hualien, taichung, cingjing and kaohsiung. I would definitely be back in taiwan again to explore more places such as taitung, Zhanghua, jiayi etc as taiwan is a very beautiful place to explore.

Beside planning of itinerary, he also assist us in booking of hotel/mingsu for some areas. After our confirmation with him, he send us various mingsu and hotel recommendation for our reference. If you doesn't like what he recommends it is ok to book on your own preference.
He took the initiative to ensure and watch out everyone's well being throughout my trip with him and my family. He make sure that we get back to hotel safely every night. Especially during mountain trip from cingjing to hualien as the road is extremely bumpy. With his years of experience on the road, the journey was safe and smooth. Just want to share our experience with Mr Pan’s (潘品中) service.

We had our 4-day family trip recently (17-20 Oct19) and engaged Mr Pan for his service for 2 days. He is highly recommended if you are looking for a knowledgeable, accommodating and caring driver with tour guiding services (which is extra and value added service).

1- Pre-trip preparation: Mr Pan called us beforehand to check out our preferences i.e. any special needs, language preference, itinerary etc. He will also remind you on local weather so that you prepare correct clothing (this is something our previous driver didn’t do).
2- Having 2 elderly in our group, he tried to minimise walking as much as possible for our parents’ convenience.
3- Mr Pan never failed to share valuable history of the places we visited and the best spot/angle for photo taking.
4- During our times at Ying Ge (莺歌) Old Street, it started raining and Mr Pan was caring enough to look for us just to pass us umbrellas and help bringing our stuffs back to his car.
5- He treated us seasonal fruits at his own cost to promote local fruits.

We enjoyed our trip so much with Mr Pan’s service. His passion of promoting Taiwan makes him an extraordinary driver.

folks, not advertising honestly.

I got a recommendation from fellow forumers for Mr. Pan and he was really amazing. I engaged his service for only 2 days (Hsinchu & Taipei), out of the 9 days trip I had recently, for just 2 of us.

1. Was planning for my wedding proposal in Taiwan, and had liaised with Pan over whatsapp for his advice. He recommended a few places for me and gave me some ideas first.

2. During my trip (just came back), I had a typhoon experience in Yilan and he texted me to watchout for my safety.

3. Before the first day I was supposed to meet him, his wife had to do an operation and so he had to accompany her to the hospital. He took the liberty to ask his protege to be our driver in a much bigger car with no extra costs etc.

4. 2nd day I met him, he apologised again for missing the first day, and bought us lunch. (really didn't expect that)

5. We changed our itinerary last minute, and he was perfectly okay with it. He still brought us to another amazing place attraction as a substitute for this change.

6. No extra costs for his & his protege's service > 10hrs.

7. Taught us how to pose and take beautiful photos like lighting, angles etc.

8. Proposal wise - he recommended a place to my requirements and it was perfect. Quiet, element of surprise, with a story significance behind the venue. And he was also cuing me with the proposal via photo-taking and video-taking.

Really grateful for his services and highly recommend him.

Just got back from Taiwan, highly recommend 文钦 (ken pan) from Taichung, but no worries as he cartered us from Taipei to Taichung then Sun Moon Lake and QIngJing. He is energetic and caring, because we are.vegetarian and its hard to get a vegetarian restaurant/food out of town, he tried his best and brought us to some good vege restaurant and bakery to ensure us have some food and.snacks to take for supper and also breakfast.

What surprised us is he brought us to grapes picking at farm which is not in itinerary. And all the way to Hehuanshan for scenary. What a beautiful place and thats not part of our iti too

Hi I'm also here to share about Mr Pan - (潘品中) service. I got to know from this forum so thank you!

I only booked with Mr Pan for 1 day (end of October) to Jiufen & Shifen area because I'm not sure how to go by public transport. I told him I wasn't sure where else to go (other than Jiufen & Shifen) so he recommended a few more places.

He speaks Mandarin, which is suitable for my parents when Mr Pan is explaining about the area & it's history. As we go around places, he will take photos of you, ask you to do different pose which was fun and funny Btw, it's was really nice of him to call and check if my parents & I needed umbrellas because it started to rain when we are in Jiufen.

I did ask him if he has any more clients the next day, and he said he's quite packed until next year March. I said I'm lucky, but he said it's probably fate HAHA

If I remember correctly, he knows that there's a forum talking about him haha! He's thankful that people are recommending him to others

Just sharing my personal experience...

been a regular to Taiwan but due to traveling with big family of 9, I engaged driver. A humorous and dedicated driver who was strongly recommended by a friend.

Engaged him (Taipei & Cingjing) twice for the last 2 yrs, and both experiences were awesome. My gf's mom went there twice and celebrated her bday. The folks love him & his humor. With him, our trips were perpetually fun; he's loaded with humor. He has his own fleet of vehicles. Even went extra mile to find us chilli paddy. Trips were well planned and he brought us to food joints where local goes to, instead of touristy place (upon request). I'm not affiliated to him, but am highly recommending him if its your looking for a trustworthy driver. We are alr planning for our 3rd trip with him. This review is almost a month overdue. We used John late November.

I went through this thread and found Jeff mentioned a few times so I contacted him via whatsapp to get his rate and advice on a 1 day plan around yehliu, jiufen, shifen, shen'oa rail and roahe night market.

He was very responsive on whatsapp and could communicate clearly in English. I easily confirmed the booking with him via whatsapp without any deposit required. About 1 week before the day he was due to pick us up, he mentioned he had to go to the hospital for a medical procedure and would find us a replacement driver. I was a little worried at that time given I didn't know who this driver was and there were no reviews of him that I found previously.

Jeff set up a whatsapp group with John included and through the messages, John was also responsive and could communicate clearly in English. Given the short notice, I decided to proceed with the replacement driver, John.

I had initially arranged for a pick up at 9am to start the day, however the night before, I contacted John to push it back to 10am, he had no issues with the last minute change. On the day itself, we had arranged to be picked up from our friend's hotel, however, as my wife and I were running late and would only reach the hotel at 10.30am, I asked John if he could pick us up from Taipei Main Station first before going to our friends' hotel. He had no issues and quickly told us where to meet.

After all of us were picked up, John clarified the trip itinerary. We said we wanted to start with the shen'oa rail bike first. He had mentioned without a prior booking it would not be possible to go on a weekend, regardless he made a call to help us check if we could walk-in. Unfortunately, it wasn't available. We ended up going to yehliu first and it was raining. He had umbrellas in his car which he loaned to all of us during the trip.

The highlight was at shifen for us. Knowing that fireworks could be bought (not legally), I asked if he knew where we could buy them so we could launch them, he gladly helped us source for them at shifen and took us to a safe spot to launch them. It was already late but yet he didn't rush us at any point in time. Allowed us to shop and helped negotiate as well.

John provided a great service for the day. We spent a total of about 9 hours with him. Highly recommended if you need an English speaking driver.

While I cannot comment on Jeff's ability as a driver or a guide given he didn't take us around, I would still give him a thumbs up for finding a great replacement driver, who also had excellent service and spoke good English.
