Sure, here you go~

吕至峰
+886 987 756 967 (Think he has both whatsapp and line for communication. I whatsapped him for my past 2 trips though. Btw, he only communicates in Chinese, so just take note if you are thinking of engaging his service yup. Hope it helps.)

Hello, can anyone recommend a driver/private tour for 2 pax day trip for Taichung->sml->cingjing->taichung .

I’ve been reading this thread but mostly Chinese speaking drivers.

Thanks for your help!

Hi need a recommendation from tai chung - sun moon lake - tai chung station

We asked David of My Taiwan Journey to drive us around Taiwan. He is very familiar interesting places in central part of Taiwan like Gaowei wetland, Lavender Cottage, Carton King, Sun Moon Lake, Cingjing Farm, Alishan park. David is a licensed tour guide. He has a very clean and organized van. Most importantly he does not charge overtime fee. David speaks fluent English and Japanese. You can contact David via WhatsApp +886 931 626577 or Google “My Taiwan Journey.”

I went on 2 trips to Taiwan last year and did ask for quotes from some of the 'recommendations' in this thread so I'll just share my experience with them.

The first trip was actually a trip that me and my friends won from a contest. So apparently the agency coordinating the free trip engaged this driver who later on passed me his contact if I ever wanted to go back again. This driver is quite a safe driver and friendly but he is very talkative. He can talk for NON-STOP throughout the car ride so for the 2 days that he was assigned to us, me and my friends took turn to take the front seat so that we can take turns to entertain him. If you are a person who likes to talk, learn about Taiwan history and fun facts, then perhaps you can consider him. Since it was a free trip, I don't know about his rates but you can email/PM him to ask.

Went back the next month but with my family this time. Didn't contact the driver above because my family appreciate peace and tranquility. I got quotes from 4 drivers including those 'recommended' ones in this thread.

My itinerary was as such:
Day 1: Pick up at Taoyuan Airport and drop off at a hotel at Sun Moon Lake. There are 2 additional stops in between that's conveniently on the way

Day 3: Pick up at a hotel in TaiChung for a one day tour around TaiChung area. (6 locations)

So I sent the same itinerary (In Chinese) to 4 drivers. Here's what they quoted.
Driver 1 (阿辉, +886 988 090 976)
Day 1: 6500TWD for 10 hours
Day 3: 4500TWD for 8 hours, 500/additional hour
9 Seater

Driver 2 (Mr Liu, +886 927 888 032)
Day 1: 7000TWD
Day 3: 5500TWD
Didn't state the number of hours

Driver 3 (邱先生, +886 986 586 977)
Day 1: 5000TWD
Day 3: 4000TWD, 8 hours + 2 hours FOC
7 Seater

Driver 4 (可乐, +886 989 835 979)
Day 1: 7000TWD for 10 hours, 500/additional hour
Day 3: 7000TWD for 10 hours, 500/additional hour
9 Seater
When i sent him the itinerary, he commented that the itinerary is messy. Like wtf? I sent the same itinerary to the other 3 drivers and they gave me the quote immediately.

So we went with the 3rd contact and arranged everything with him. No deposit was required. So we were expecting to see him at the airport but it was another driver who picked us up. We weren't informed that it would be another driver (阿信) and no explanation given beforehand. Nonetheless, we just went ahead with him.
Overall, he is a safe driver, punctual and he doesn't charge extra even when the number of hours exceeded. The only downside is that he's quite quiet so most of the time, it's silent in the car unless we ask him questions. He doesn't help you to take photos too so if you are looking for a driver cum photographer, then he wouldn't be the right person lol. He also doesn't explain about the attractions or talk about the history so if you are looking for a driver cum guide, you should find someone else. He WOULD be the driver that you are looking for if you are looking for a driver who brings you from point to point safely and do not charge you extra for additional hours.

I have done quite a few Taiwan trips so far but haven't really found a driver that I would really go back to. Hence it might be better to ask your friends or colleagues for good and trustworthy recommendations. The drivers that I've encountered usually does not ask for a deposit when you confirm via email/whatsapp/LINE unless you went through an agency. So just be careful if a driver does ask for it.

Hi guys,

Although I am a new member and therefore may not be credible in your eyes. I have just finished engaging a tour by Cola (i.e Driver #4 - you may go over to his Facebook page to see the photos that he had taken during 20 - 28th Sep - P.s. my last two days are free and easy)

If you have seen the thread above, his pricing would be on a higher side as a “Driver”. However, based on my experiences with him, he is more than that. He is a travel advisor, avid photographer and eventually a friend whom I can entrust my family’s (3 adults, 2 toddlers) enjoyment and safety during the trip with. What’s more, he is great with kids.

When I have engaged him, he had given me a travel plan that was specifically catered for kids which included dolphin watching, visiting animals farms (alpacas/sheep/small animals etc), crayon factory, paper making etc. During this time, I do not even have to whip up my camera to take photos as he will always be there to do the necessary so that we can truly immerse ourselves in the experience that he had brought us to (seriously this is important when you are having 2 kids in tow).

He probably didn’t have time to reply immediately as he is always on the move and would concentrate fully when he is engaged (based on what I have observed). I feel that what I have paid for is truly for his professionalism and service standards.

All in all, I am really glad that I have engaged him during this period :)

P.s. This is not a fake advert.. and honestly he doesn’t engage in fake reviews. He has come across to me as a sincere and earnest individual. Cheers....

Just came back from a 12D11N Taiwan trip with my family of 6, and would like to give a huge shoutout to my driver - 吕至峰.

Based on what I have read and heard, I believe that most drivers in Taiwan are fine (Taiwanese people are generally friendly and fun-loving). For my case, I have previously engaged Mr 吕至峰's services when I was doing a 3D2N Taichung tour with my friends 2 years ago. As I did not have any issues with his services back then and was travelling with my parents this trip, I decided to engage his services again for both my Taichung and Taipei tour. This time round, I am really impressed with his quality services rendered.

Btw - I was charged between TWD 4,500 to TWD 5,000 daily throughout for 6 pax (depending on attractions).

1) Prior to our flight, I had shared with him our flight details. As we still had to collect our SIM cards after touching down, I told him to take his time. However, 2.5 hours before we touched down, he had already shared with me his location at the airport. It was only during our ride to Taichung did I realise that he had started to drive down 6 hours before the actual meeting time in case of traffic congestion etc. Btw, he is a driver based in Taichung.
2) His car has got 2 TVs and Karaoke set installed as entertainment for his passengers. Knowing that my parents love to listen to 閩南語 songs + the younger ones love to watch 飢餓遊戲, he actually made an effort to download and play them throughout the rides.
3) On the 2nd day of our trip, we casually mentioned about trying 花雕雞麵 and Taiwan fruits. And the next morning, he actually bought a few packets of the 花雕雞麵 and Taiwan fruits for us. What touches me was that I had sorethroat from eating too much 雞排 (yes, unfortunately); of which he noticed and brought a bottle of his own 八仙果 obtained from a Chinese Physician for me.
4) We had initially engaged his services for only 7D. However, as my parents had difficulties walking long distance, I decided to engage his services for the last 2 days of my Taipei tour. Wasnt holding much hopes as he is based in Taichung, and it doesn't make economic sense for him to drive up to Taipei for a mere 2 days trip). However, he actually agreed to do us the favor and did not even charge us extra for making him travel to and fro Taichung.

What is so commendable about him is that he is a honest, attentive and observant driver. In my opinion, he felt more like a grandfather/father rather than a driver. Its just so comfortable with him around us and we can just joked around. I can just go on and on about the list of things as to why I think he is great - but you really have got to experience it to understand why he stands out. I can't say for the other drivers as I have only engaged him for my previous trip but he is definitely my only choice going forward. Not getting anything out from this but just felt that he deserves to be recommended for the quality services rendered. Someone whom I will strongly vouched for.

You can PM me for his contact details if you are keen to know more. :)

folks, not advertising honestly.

I got a recommendation from fellow forumers for Mr. Pan and he was really amazing. I engaged his service for only 2 days (Hsinchu & Taipei), out of the 9 days trip I had recently, for just 2 of us.

1. Was planning for my wedding proposal in Taiwan, and had liaised with Pan over whatsapp for his advice. He recommended a few places for me and gave me some ideas first.

2. During my trip (just came back), I had a typhoon experience in Yilan and he texted me to watchout for my safety.

3. Before the first day I was supposed to meet him, his wife had to do an operation and so he had to accompany her to the hospital. He took the liberty to ask his protege to be our driver in a much bigger car with no extra costs etc.

4. 2nd day I met him, he apologised again for missing the first day, and bought us lunch. (really didn't expect that)

5. We changed our itinerary last minute, and he was perfectly okay with it. He still brought us to another amazing place attraction as a substitute for this change.

6. No extra costs for his & his protege's service > 10hrs.

7. Taught us how to pose and take beautiful photos like lighting, angles etc.

8. Proposal wise - he recommended a place to my requirements and it was perfect. Quiet, element of surprise, with a story significance behind the venue. And he was also cuing me with the proposal via photo-taking and video-taking.

Really grateful for his services and highly recommend him.

Can a car occupy 8+1?

your 8 person are all adults? how many days? If need to carry luggages i think the options are those mini bus, VW crafter or take 2 vehicles...

if 8 person got half are children... maybe can cham xiong with the driver see whether can squeeze in those 7-8 seaters or not...but most likely they will not do it coz against the law... but no harm trying to ask if only for those day trip... for long journey multiple days trip best to get proper vehicles...

I see then better arrange two cars. What’s the rate for the driver now ? The rate they quote is it include accommodation?

below are my research for my upcoming trip... not recommending company/drivers as i am first time hiring also... so best to do your own research and judgement...

if u are hiring them for multiple days... the fare is usually inclusive of their accommodation... some might even include accident insurance...

depending on where u go... per vehicle can be as low as 3500 to 5500 per day... if costs is a concern... best to get taipei driver for taipei day trips... and taichung driver for taichung day trips etc... this way the driver can go home and they save on accommodation costs which will translate to cheaper fees...

if costs is not a concern... i suggest u get a VW crafter or similar vehicle... at least no need to travel in separate vehicle... and to have 1 driver for the whole trip instead of changing drivers at every city...

btw i am getting a VW crafter for my 8pax travelling group...

For 8 pax ok but you must check if got enough luggage space. Long time ago, I go with 8 pax, total 9 pax. From airport no problem, but to airport, not enough space.

the tour company assure 6 large luggages (30") + 2 small hand carry + stroller not a problem for VW Crafter... I see the pictures of the vehicle... the back should be able to hold all my luggages... if return trip got more boxes can put in front... the seats and aisle still got a lot of space for small boxes...

anyway... if really not enough space... they say can change to a mini bus for us since it is same price...
