Anyone knows y does it cost 5k from cingjing to hualien? Read a number of blogs it was ard 2500 to 3000 in 2011. What is the reason for such high increase in price? Thanks!

Because of the distance. Cingjing to Hualian is really far .. i was quoted NT5000 in 2010.

if you die die have to visit the above mention places, i would suggest you hire a private driver.

If not you can consider the following if you are not in a rush.

台北--->九份--->金瓜石--->基隆夜市
There is a bus stop at the mrt exit opposite 忠孝東路上, there is a HILIFE store (萊爾富) beside it. Interval of 30mins per bus (if i remember correctly)

The bus will take you to 九份and金瓜石.
I am sure you know what to do in 九份. As for 金瓜石, its actually nearby, around 2-3km. You can google it.

After you are done in the two places, you can take a bus to 基隆市區. What people like to eat is seafood because it is a port and its more expensive. Tell you frankly, the seafood is specially for tourtist. Local 基隆people know where to eat.


After that you can take a bus from 基隆 back to taipei. Please take note of the timing if you chose this route.

You can chose this route if you have the time and adventure spirits.

Take TRA train from Taipei to Ruifang train station. Cross the road and take the bus heading to Jinguashi direction. They will pass by Jiufen.

Hi, just got back from my Taiwan trip a couple of days back. Got to know mr. liu through a friend's recommendation. Travelled with him for a total of 4 days. He is really friendly and knowledgeable but he can only understand chinese and taiwanese language.

The trip with him was really fun and memorable and i find his fees really reasonable (unlike some taxi drivers who charge the same amount everyday despite the difference in distance, whereas mr.liu charges by distance) thus i would recommend him to anyone who wants to hire a cab in taiwan Let me know if you need more information. Manage to contact Mr Liu and he quoted me NT4,000 per day as he says the journey are quite long, my trip includes 6 days around miaoli, taichung, nantou, alishan, yilan. Is this price reasonable ?

Next day Cingjing back to Taichung HSR.

IMO, not worth it if you only have 2 people. Jingguashi, Jiufen, Shifen and Keelung night market can be completed within a day if you take public transport and start the day early. But take note that shifen waterfall is about 25-30 mins walk from the train station. I have completed Jingguashi, Jiufen and Shifen waterfall, start around 0830 and end at 1800. Give up on Keelung night market because all my energy is wasted on walking to Shifen waterfall.

If I'm not wrong, yehliu is quite out of place as compared to the other 4 attractions and is packed with ah tiong tourists who keep hogging the famous Queen's head. You can actually forgo Yehliu if your travel schedule is packed.

I went to those places you mentioned by engaging a driver. The places are really far inside. Perhaps if you have done enough homework you can use the public transport but still you might need to spend time asking people is this the correct bus stop, which direction to go, is this the correct bus etc. Not to mention if you buy stuff from 九份老街 then you gotta carry your stuff around.
