Taipei Day Driver

Just came back from Taiwan not long ago. Hired driver 阿豪 for a day tour to yeliu -> keelong night market -> jiufen -> shifen. A friendly guy. My friend just causally asked if a piyo piyo outlet was near to our itinerary for the next day. He actually drove us to an outlet after our lunch! The pace of the trip was good, no rush and at the end of the trip at shi fen, we had fun with fireworks

We paid NT3500 for 4 pax.

Haha. It's was pretty smooth for me and my friends. I think it's dependent on the driver and the passengers.

Just came back from taipei 5 days ago. Hired Ah Hao for a day trip (9AM - 7+PM) to yehliu-keelung night market-jiufen-shifen for 4 pax at 3500NT.

His driving is quite steady, didn't feel unwell with all twists and turns along the mountains.
Brings us to quite a few scenic spots along the way, very friendly in helping my family take photos as well. Gives a brief history/explanation at each spot. Doesn't pressure you or give you time limit (like what time you have to be back here). He will just ask you to go and walk and take your time.
When we were going back, my sis felt tired and he dropped her back at the hotel. We asked if he could drop the rest of us at xmd and he did so very obligingly.

Yup! He will just drop us at some scenic places and encourage us to take photo. One of the places he brought us to was nan ya qi yan and encouraged my family to go down the rocky 'stairs' because the scenery was really really beautiful down there!

Hi all, wanted to share with you all my recent taiwan taxis booking with Ah Hao! Hes really a nice friendly & funny guy.

While I was planning to book the taxis, I do google online & saw a few of them recommend him. Hence I text him and check with him his price, itenary etc. Before I confirm my booking with him, he already treat me like his friend to take note of some little issue which I had overlook and may disrupt my planning. Eg, shifen waterfall last entry at 430pm. So far none of the taxis driver who I liases with told me all those. Hence his friendly and sincere attitude make me confirm my booking immediately.

Along the journey he will also share with you about the attraction interesting stories in a funny way. You will be busy laughing in his taxis and before you know it, you reach the next attraction! Another plus point is he will never set a time limit for each attraction. He say most importantly we must enjoy ourselves. Hence once we are done, we just call him. He also surprise us with firwork at shifen! Its really a amazing beautiful personal experience to set firework on our own! Trust me its better than taipei 101 countdown.

Forget to mention, I was telling him briefly about me finding the piyo piyo shop to buy a water bottle for my niece. He took an extra effort to bring us to the shop to buy it. Really appreciate it

Actually it's cheaper to take a bus to XMD instead. Take FREEGO : )

Drivers to avoid @ all cost

I am writing with dismay that there are two drivers in taipei to avoid @ all cost.

1. 余青美 tel. 886-910-236-967
She short change customers. The agreed hours should be 12 hrs but she will tell u it's only 10hrs. Never mind, she will end the whole journey in less than 10hrs. She follows u when u are shopping around in 九分. She will purposely bring u to certain stores to buy things. These Taiwan drivers are not allowed to do that. She can tell u she will continue with the tour after dropping off your loots @ the hotel but when u r back @ ur hotel, she will tell u ur tour has ended. Seriously, u need to argue with her but w fear she might ditch u in some wu lu place.

Not to worry, they start at 6am I think. First time? Most drivers mentioned here can't go airport fetch u de cos of licensing issue. Else u book limo frm hotel lo. Which hotel may I ask?

Yea man.. That's y I highly recommend Meeky Yang. My family got no choice but book these drivers n they claim they r friends of Meeky Yang!! Really Kena con big time.

yes agreed! Ah hao 阿豪 is a very nice, friendly and thoughtful driver with the best customer service i've ever engaged for overseas trip driver. He was so thoughtful that he specially bought firecrackers for us after our sky lantern experience at shifen knowing that we do not have this chance to put our own fireworks in Singapore. Furthermore he doesnt push us or give us any time limit during our shopping and dinner at jiufen.. and even though we over spent the time limit, he is not calculative and doesnt extra charge us like the other cab drivers. He treats his customers more like his friends and is very fun and comfortable driver to talk to with a sense of humor. I'll strongly recommend Ah Hao to my friends and anyone who wants to engage a driver in Taipei! ^_^
