For TC to CJ, it definitely should not cost more than NTD 2,500 if it is for a normal car/ cab for four. Cos I was quoted this amount for booking a 9-seater van.

Recently came back from Taipei and had the good fortune to meet an extremely nice driver named Kevin. Chanced upon this thread and decided to create an account and recommend him.

His rate is 400NT hourly, but he charges only for a max 8 hours which adds up to 3200 NT in total. He does not charge for the remaining hours as there may be jams on the way back etc.

The day started at 9am, and we went to yehliu, ying yang hai, jinguashi, jiufen and shifen, and we reached Taipei at about 6pm. Along the way, we asked if he could allow us to swing by Chiate bakery to pick up some goodies and he nicely agreed to, and did not charge us for the extra request!

He was really nice and friendly, treated us to some local snacks using his own money, and allowed us to walk around at our own pace without rushing. He is also very knowledgable, as he shared information about Taiwan and specific scenic spots as we drove pass it. He even told us that he worked in Singapore many years back and assisted in filming shows, and even provided pictures which he took with Fann Wong and Christopher Lee as proof.

We booked him for our return journey from XMD to airport too, which was 900NT. To our surprise, he even got for us some biscuits from a popular place for us to try. Also, when we parted, he gave me and my friends each a commemorative 10NT coin (globe and map of taiwan at the back), which he said to keep it as a momento of our journey. That kind of service was something that we found especially sweet and touching to round off our whole trip.

We found him very friendly, honest and reliable. An added bonus would be that his taxi has wifi. He drives a 4 seater toyota wish, and has several hello kitty/sanrio decals on the exterior of his cab, so it is very easy to spot amongst the midst of other cabs. Thanks for your recommendation. We used his service for a day from 9 am till 6 pm, and like you say he is helpful and very pleasant. Specially sent gifts of soaps made by his sister and tea from his friend's plantation to our hotel the next day. Chatty but not overly so.

hi guys! just got back from taiwan. i also used the service of kevin/lien kai. his rates is 400NTD/hour. we actually used him for 9 hours and he wanted to charge us 8 hours only. but i gave him 4000NTD cos his service very good. he brought us to additional places and even went up the tall rocks with us to take photos for us. he brought us to some high places that are not tourist spots and thus we could see nice rare scenary! at pingxi, he took us to the tian deng shop cos he knows the boss and he knows the toilet there is clean so we can use. and also helped us take alot of photos with his phone while we were putting the tian deng. last place he brought us to the pingxi police station which have some light show at 6pm (which is not known to alot of tourists!) he also gave us souvenirs, treated us drinks and chatted with my parents, a very friendly guy! also offered to accompany us into jiufen old street but we told him to get some rest we can walk on our own. wanted to book him for our trip to airport but he was fully booked already. but he still helped me to get his fellow drivers to pick us up. and he is very responsive through LINE. even on the day we reached airport he also texted to make sure we are at airport safe and sound. great service. recommend you guys to try him, won't regret!

oh btw, his cab has hello kitty print very easy to recognise! 7 seater can seat up to 6 adults without luggage.

I also went to the police station. Don't think it's that 'exclusive' lah. A lot of tourists stopped to take photos when I was there.

hi all,

anyone has suggestion for driver that can ferry 12 pax for around 8 days.

location most likely is these.

1. taipei city itself
2. taipei --> jiufen/shifen and nearby areas
3. taipei -->hua lian --> taroko gorge --> he huan mountain --> cing jing --> sun moon lake --> tai chung --> taipei

i found one driver and was quoted at least SGD 4k. freaking expensive imo.

Have you checked with the driver what vehicle he's using? Normally for such large group, they should be using 2driver with 2x9seater. If that's the case, it's normal rate.

I find that is reasonable. I paid NT1k for rides to and fro airport as well, slept and woke up reached the destination

Have contacted a couple of drivers like Ah Hao and Kevin but all booked already. Very last minute on my part though. Already booked my taichung driver 3 months in advance, but last min change of plans so got to find a Taipei driver Traveling in a week's time.

Train to ruifang then get a cab n nego the day price.
It works.
