Recommend CPU Cooler for 5600X

Edit 2: Seems that my Tecware Forge M can only use Arctic Freezer 240 since it can only install 2x120mm fans at the top. Am i correct?

If you can stretch your budget, suggest:

- Change that crappy Tecware casing reliability as well as airflow is bad down the road.

Example Cooler Master MB520 ARGB - $119

The stock fans of this casing are decent so need not upgrade.
Far better quality and realibity than Tecware.
Casing there are others but this would be the cheaper option.

2) Cooler Master Hyper 212X Black Edition

I don't see the point of getting a AIO cooler for a AMD 5600X, air cooler will do fine.
Not to mention AIO cooler have lifespan, if the cooler gets noisy as well as temp
shoots up than you have to replace the entire AIO cooler.

Air cooler wise only the fan can wear out but very unlikely.
I still recommend you to strike a balance to get a good casing that have fans with good airflow
to go along with a cooler.

Than buying a strong CPU cooler but the casing is crappy quality.
Anyway the decision is yours.

How what if i change the existing case fans of my tecware. Will it be better instead of changing a new casing?

Reason is because bring home a few fans much easier to answer to wife than a big casing.

Just thinking whether should I or not lo. Can afford la but need to or not is another thing.
So now just wanna ask u all more and weight all the pros and cons then decide by this couple of days.
Cos my new CPU 5600x should be arriving around 9th May thereabouts.

Tecware products are known to be not durable and will spoil, so be it.

However, a single case fan spoil doesn't break your entire system, and you can replace them in the future. Plus, if you happen to be lucky, they might last for you. Note that upgrading fans don't have the same impact as adding a fan, and you might not notice significant improvements. Not to mention, the 5600x doesn't need much cooling.

As for the CPU cooler, the SE-226-XT cooling is strong and can also cool a 5800x. As for the 212, it's an old-school recommendation, and other coolers have long surpassed it at its price segment. I need to put bluntly that a 240 AIO is not superior to a good HSF that is half of its price, which I did not say earlier.

It would help if you focused on your priorities
1. CPU Cooler - You need one.
2. Case Fan - It's seldom worth upgrading fans. You can do that when there is a problem with the fans.
3. Case - The case isn't going to collapse. Airflow-wise, your Forge M has meshed front and is not as bad as the Nexus M, which is completely suffocated.

You need to understand that cases with meshed front panels are typically unrestrictive and sit in the higher segment of the charts in terms of airflow. Even a terrible one will never drop to the 'bad airflow' category. That spot is reserved for cases like the Nexus M.

In the future, let's say your case fans and io ports 1 by 1 start to spoil, then it makes more sense to change it. Otherwise, it may look like you have too much free time on your hands .

@techidiot despite it being very tempting to change to a new casing, i think i will hold it off for now. If now from a budget hsf go to a AIO goto change case...lol. Will just upgrade my current case's fans one by one to see how it goes. Thanks for your kind advices since the beginning of this thread though. Totally appreciate it!

Anyway, I think I've kinda decided. Going against most advices, I most prob should be getting Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 (Must get at least Rev4 right?) and also shunbian just get a CM Sickleflow 120mm. Should be getting them from Bizgram since I just whatsapp-ed them and they have available stocks for both items.

Getting a AIO instead of a HSF, for me, is mostly because of Aesthetic reasons. And also since I had never owned a AIO before, just wanna try one now.

Again, thanks to ALL for your advices and contributions.

Still continue to welcome more posts and opinions in this thread since this topic should be quite useful for most people like me, who had always used stock cpu cooler and wanna try something new.

which either jam or does not turn on the PC. Since you already set your sights on AIO
than go ahead but for beginner you have to learn how to install it.

CM Sickleflow fans are the budget friendly high airflow fans cuz the next level will be Noctua
but they are very expensive as well as no RGB.

AIO not that bad la but ya it will degrade over time
My old rig never oc and seldom game, used to oc but reset to default after few yrs
My AIO last for 10yrs haven spoil
The temp go up few deg, i think from 35 to 40

The good thing abt AIO is ur rig will look alot more spacious
Looks neater and cleaner also coz lesser things to trap the dust
If use air cooler after few yrs, u open up casing ur cooler will look like pork floss
But if looking at cost, of coz air cooler will be cheaper

If you are looking for cooling stuff, you can check out Aigo on Lazada. Lots of good deals as there is a promotion going on. Quality-wise, I won't expect much at these prices.

Today wake up, suddenly felt and thought of the following:

Get SE-226-XT better
- HSF durability longer than AIO
- Less headaches and worries. HSF spoil, change fan or change whole HSF. AIO spoil, may be pump spoilt maybe other things spoil. Also got very small chance of leak due to old age.
- $50 HSF is equivalent or better than a $150 AIO

Hi all, need help. How do i connect the sickleflow 120mm ARGB to my hub?

The sickleflow comes like tat. So the red circled wire is the "power cable" which should be connected to my MB while the blue circled cables are the ARGB cables right?

So now, looking at my RGB hub, it seems that the female/male connections does not match and there's no way i can connect the ARGB cables to the RGB hub.

How ah? I lost liao...

Tecware's default hub is 6 pin, cannot connect 3rd party ARGB devices. Check your HSF see if it comes with a separate ARGB controller, connect your CM fan's ARGB to it.

In that case, based on my MB layout, which cable should go into which connector?

my preference is to cut away the RGB wires for settling such problem
