what keyboard is this?
Aula F75. Quite viral promoting in tiktok and youtube. U can go search.

Cheap board that comes already with all the necessary mod that most ppl do, so only thing u can change are keycaps and switches. But their default linear switches are good if u like thocky sound signature. The ice vein and reaper switches are linear and thocky.

Mx brown though is tactile, the feel also a little like linear.

To me same feel as reaper switch or ice vein. No diff to me.

I just chose the cheapest shop.

bought a keyboard rack that can put 3 keyboards. just ordered another keyboard from taobao, the Leobog Hi75, seems that china aluminium board also comes "pre modded" with alot sound dampening layers. so sounds good right out of the box.

buy more keyboard just to put on this rack lol...

Try out the more premium boards, just to get some experience. Bridge 75 now on pre order at qwertypop.

i did went before to Mash by Aftershock before to test couple of keyboards but dont find any difference with the premium boards vs budget boards actually haha.. maybe only the aesthetic premium look sets it apart between expensive boards from the budget boards?

just seem the budget boards in 2024 are just pretty good in terms of sound which i am more concern with and since its hot swappable, alot of the feel boils down to keycaps and switches. these budget boards already have those common modifications implemented and sound so nice, be it creamy / thocky ( the sound i am looking for)

Just thinking spending on $300 to $800 make not much sense for my use case scenario haha.

these boards have all that i wanted.
gasket mount, tri mode connectivity, good stabilisers with no rattle, and somehow i like the plastic board sounds with all this sound dampening layers.

happen to saw the leobog hi75 which is a budget aluminium board with good prebuilt sounds, so just wanna try.

And because its so cheap, thats why one shot buy multiple haha...

Next time with 800 you can buy an oled monitor with high refresh rate, no need to bother with all these nonsense, some so called enthusiast keyboard with those 'sound good' type have some fundamental flaw resulting in unusual high latency 10+20+, and the main reason is because a lot of them are not electronic manufacturers and can't even properly build a piece of electronic.

Keyboard wired latency should be around 5ms or lower, otherwise it's a huge red flag already.

I see those YouTube video they put their ear beside the keyboard and keep tapping the keyboard and it make them very happy like some autistic person.

This excessive obsession with the sound of a keyboard is literally a kind of mental illness spreading, and make people around hypersensitive to it.

haha...

keyboard latency of those budget boards is good with 1000mhz polling rate, when i use it to game, got no difference when i was using corsair and razer gaming keyboards with supposedly gaming grade latency. Even if these gaming boards have better latency in their specsheet, it is very miniscule in real world usage. If u compare bluetooth connectivity, yes i can feel the sluggishness when gaming, but with wired or 2,4ghz, the budget boards do well as well.

Alot of times items are price very high/premium due to branding and marketing or its availablity. Expensive boards maybe have limited manufactured numbers thus bringing the price way up, ( paying more for the limited stock, group buy etc) but in terms of value, performance and usage, to be honest no vast difference with 2024 budget boards.

i not so overly obessed with the keyboard sounds like those enthusiasts are, otherwise long ago will be heavily invested in keyboards. but since i was looking at keyboards, and saw how budget boards are now made to be modded so good out of the box that dont need any other mods for it to sound good, so why not, since its so cheap from taobao. i literally spend like $30 to $40 for just one board and it so good right out of the box, i just need change keycaps and feels premium to me already with all the features i need.

Its the same like people buy hype and limited edition shoes. Last time i also buy adidas yeezy, NMD, ultraboost.. few years ago the price damn expensive, resell value can sell to even 1k sgd. But its all just branding, the value from it, the materials also lousy...all my expensive shoes now all spoilt because i rarely wear them since wfh after covid.. materials no diff to those cheap models.

So if a budget board does as well as an expensive board, dont see a reason to buy an expensive one haha.. unless of course its more for aesthetic or the material. but somehow now i prefer plastic over aluminium for its sound signature and i benefit from it since plastic is cheaper anyway.

on the topic of oled monitors, yes i spend alot on them, i change alot as well. Yes i pay premium price for it and it lacks value to be honest. Just like my latest purchase of the Asus ROG PG34WCDM ultrawide. The price is stupid at $1750 ish compared to alienware AW3423dwf at $900+ and the difference is only 240hz vs 165hz. I couldnt wait for other models to surface as i prefer 240hz, so pay premiuim price lor...

My Aula F75 just came. Quite impressed. Given the relatively entry-level cost (around $80), I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. Didn't tinker much with the software customization though, so can't speak to whether that aspect of it is well-developed.

yea its amazing right? its quite heavy for a plastic board at 1.2kg due to the dampening layers that come with the board, other plastic keyboards weigh about 700gram to 800 gram i believe. U like the sounds from it?

how much u paid for it?

i mean if u buy via shopee/lazada, probably cost $60 to $80.

If u have access to taobao, it can cost between $30 to $40 plus. really a steal. I enjoy typing on it.

You can just swap out the keycaps to a nicer keycap style/color/profile and it will look premium already.

Oops I don't have Taobao access, so I paid the high-end of that range, about $76 with shipping included.

It is truly a steal at $40. I'm very impressed that this is the entry level range now. I really like the sounds and feedback, I got the Reaper switches, really enjoy them.

I haven't tried buying alternative keycaps or switches yet, will explore more later. Think what I have for now will keep me happy for some time. Especially when I walk into shops in e.g., Funan and I see that there are $200-$300 keyboards which just don't work as well for me! Haha

exactly. those 200 to 300 keyboards might even sound worst than this aula f75 coupled with rattling stabilisers.

you can try SA profile keycaps to make it thock louder, or maybe OSA profile keycaps to make it creamier sounding.

i ordered 2 sets of f75, one with reaper and another with ice vein switches for about $75 too with shipping from taobao haha..

all are smooth as all are linear switches.

they all sound a tad similar. but if u want thockier, i think Ice Vein is thockier. couple it with some nice keycaps, it can have the thocky/creamy sound signature.

Logitech MX Mechanical clones (i.e. soldered switches) at less than one-third the price when on sale:

ProtoArc Mech K200: (only USB dongle)

ProtoArc Mech K300: (Wired, USB dongle, BT1, BT2), supports N-key rollover.

Comes with software to remap keys and define macros!
https://www.protoarc.com/pages/user-manual

K201 and K301 are the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini clones.

What's the catch?
Both series: only Red linear switches, big PROTOARC label on spacebar.
K200 & K201: Wake from sleep time is not instant (3-sec), only 1 device connection.
K300 & K301: supposed to be instant wake from sleep (need reviews to confirm) but battery life is shorter than Logitech MX Mechanical series.

you all got any solution like logitech ghub(old software), which allows you to assign macros to each key? like if i press a key, it types out a string of text.
