[Recommend] Good Mechanical Keyboard

Hi, can i ask what is the state of mech keyboard market? If want good quality keyboard is it still ducky, varmilo and leopold?

I looking for TKL keyboard, backlit(if no rgb also never mind, white led also can), brown switch but quieter? I like the tactile feedback, but wish it can be more silent.

Budget: im a cheapo so if cheap and good i like, but max $200.

Currently still using the original Tecware Phantom 87 key with Outemu Browns i believe. Been about 3 years and the white led on the M key died haha, of all things they use a SMD led so i cant repair by myself, i only have normal through hole led.

Its still good though, but sometimes the sound of the key depressing a bit irritating, sounds like scraping against the housing/switch?

If can find parts for a TKL custom keyboard and all parts for under 150SGD, i dont mind spending the time to build one, i can solder and not afraid to get dirty. But otherwise which keyboard is available that fits my needs?

So you want a TKL form factor? Would be interested in smaller builds like 60%/65%?

I think quite easy to stay within the 150sgd budget, the whole point of going custom is to fit your budget plus get the stuff that you want if you don't want all the extra frills like RGB. Since you're experienced with soldering that's even better. Get a TKL PCB, if it's hotswap then it's more convenient but those are generally more expensive and come with RGB LEDs anyway. I'm not sure if your budget can accommodate good cases like aluminium and plates so you'll prob have to stick to plastic. Then for budget switches you can try gateron yellows and lube+film them if you want a budget linear. I have a model M so no tactile or clicky cherry style switch ever satisfies me anymore lol. Then keycaps you can also slowly find or reuse from your old keyboards

65% can be programmable is it? Like i see the layout of 65% seems not so bad, but i dont really use delete key on the right, if can have the home/end/pg up/pg dn would be nice.

Oh, i just saw the RK71, seems like a good keyboard for the budget and still has all the buttons i need. Lazada sell for about $60, even cheaper than aliexpress WOW

I can do without numpad because programming/coding more often typing alphabets then numbers, but i used to using the number row over a numpad anyways.

Haha do you work with multiple systems at one go? If yes then have to think about which wireless keyboard use dongle, cos system cannot connect 2 bluetooth input devices afaik. If only 1 system then just use wired for both bah, make life easy no worry about charged or not, or battery leak.

I work from home now, so yeah it would be helpful to have a keyboard to work with both. I'm currently looking at the keychron K8. I can use the receiver for gaming and bluetooth for my macbook for work.

Hahaha I'm still a numpad person especially on excel, calculations.

I work from home now, so yeah it would be helpful to have a keyboard to work with both. I'm currently looking at the keychron K8. I can use the receiver for gaming and bluetooth for my macbook for work.

As in you cannot have wireless TKL keyboard(if over bluetooth) AND bluetooth numpad connected to same system at the same time. Otherwise just get a full size wireless keyboard haha, settle this problem
