I have read some reviews saying that the keychron k4v2 front part is quite high and wrist rest required. Any owners can share more on this?

I'm considering between keychron k4v2 and epomaker 96. Need that 96% layout haha. Can also recommend me other budget 96/1800 layouts too!

Yes both keyboards can be quite high and definitely, a palm rest is required for a more comfortable typing experience. Just get their wooden palm rest which is discounted anyway at mecha.store.

There are not many compact keyboards like K4V2. The other option is https://iqunix.store/products/f96-wireless-mechanical-keyboard which is much more expensive.

Finally decided on that one

Intend to open up the back to insert a form/sorbothane to dampened the sound.
Any owners can confirm this will not break the warranty?

So far my varmillo and leopold (both bought fr Lazada) seem to be good.

Leopold is 980C (topre) while varmillo is the Beijing Opera edition - admittedly I bought the varmillo because it looks nice.

The Leopold typing experience is really very unique, but I miss the function keys (the 9 keys in the middle missing)

The topre switches are quite quiet and very tactile, hopefully they will last me years to come...

The beijing opera, as long as it lasts longer than my panda (1 of the keys died after 1y) i'm happy.

Hardwarezone and some other media outlets have reviewed it.

My experience:
I've been dailying one since Nov last year and so far it's been decent.
Build quality is fantastic, no flexing or rattles. Feels (and sounds) quite solid. It's decently thick and heavy so maybe that helps. The surface is all plastic, but Dreamcore claims there is a steel frame (and I verified it with a magnet). Braided Usb-C cable and rubber feet have had no issues.
Keycaps and stabilisers have been ok, but the keycaps are a bit soft and get slightly deformed on the edges after multiple removals. I've had to remove the keycaps to clean dust multiple times and unlike other keyboards with 'floating' keycaps, I can't just pry the keycaps on this board with my fingers so I've had to use the keycap puller (which is how I damaged the edges of a few keycaps, but it isn't major and is barely noticeable)
I got the Kailh Box Brown switches with them, and there is a nice tactile bump. However, it seems like the lubricant on some of them has worn off (in just a few months) so some have become clicky. I contacted Dreamcore/Supersolid about this and they didn't think it was a problem (they claim it's within spec? There are some other reports of the Kailh Box Royals with that problem too though)
Per-key RGB lighting is ok, except that there's no way to customize them in software. There are 3 programmable settings for the lights (in addition to the pre-programmed ones) but they only allow you to choose between 7 colours.
Overall the are some things that I don't really like, but still a great keyboard for $100 (when it goes on sale).

That's a very good review. Usually those we find online are likely sponsored hence they tend to say the good things more. I am getting a rig from dreamcore hence thinking of bundling it.

I've owned a cheap Armageddon keyboard before (I think it was the MKA-2C or something) with outemu blues.


Any particular comparison you want? Tried a lot of keyboards in shops prior to settling on this.
Razer - Huntsman mini and Blackwidow (and maybe a couple of others, can't really remember but essentially tried keyboards with their clicky and linear normal switches, along with their optical clicky and linears).
Tecware - Phantom and Phantom L, all 3 switch types
Durgod - GK61 and Hades, all 3 switch types
Keychron - K1, K2 and K6, all 3 switch types
Logitech - G413 and 915
Armaggeddon - MKA 9C and SMK 2C (in addition to the MKA 2C) I've owned
Some Asus ROG keyboard who's model number I can't remember but cost around $150 and had linear switches.
Also tried the other switch types of the Dreamtype.
I've basically tried almost all the keyboards on display at challenger and mecha store in Nov last year. Notably didn't find any Ducky or Filco to try.
Ended up settling on the Dreamtype because of its layout, detachable cable, hot swappability and per-key RGB. Box switches were a bonus.

About the box tactile switches becoming clicky, I believe others have already gone to investigate (there's a Reddit thread about it, and it seems like the box browns have the same problem as the royals mentioned here)

Never felt the need for one, my hands have been just fine... but if you're not used to something as high as this then it you may want one.
My previous keyboard (an Armaggeddon MKA 2C) was also quite high so I think I got used to the height.
