Hello experts, I'm totally new to this keyboard thingy hope to get some help here.

Recently just bought keychron q1 knob version. Want to try and configure individual key RGB lighting but it seems that QMK does not have the q1 knob version layout? Am I doing something wrong here?

And also any simple mods that you guys would recommend for this keyboard?

you need to download the json file for it, json file and instructions here:

It works if i upload it for VIA but not QMK (it gives an error saying "this doesn't appear to be a QMK keymap file")

But I think VIA is unable to configure individual key RGB right?
Ah, just realised that you are using qmk instead of VIA. Sorry about that.

I’m not sure about the individual lighting, I’m not using it.

Haha no problems, thanks for your help anyways!

Will just leave it as is until there's a solution.

I've been researching on custom keyboards over the last 2 weeks and wow, mindblown. I was thinking AKKO ACR 75 base + AKKO CS Sponge and maybe a PBT keycap with light shining through the keycaps.

Also, i see that people recommended Krytox 205g0 for lubing but i was also thinking of getting a cheaper lube for my existing keyboards (Ducky Year of the Rabbit, G710+, RK 108).

Not sure if anyone can give me some opinions on my thoughts here haha.

TIA!

This one is cheap but its durability is not good. The last time, I bought it with my colleagues for use in the office, 3 out of 5 got issues within 1 year  .

Not to mention the outemu switch performance really is cmi, the keys are slow to come back up. If you fast typer please avoid~

You can try Feker IK75 if you want a wireless version. Switches are subjective but I have good experience with Bobas so far. Tangerines look interesting too if you are into smoth linear.

Just finished building my first custom, Feker ik75, with Feker panda, after changing to the included polycarbonate plate and lubing the stabs and switches, it's really Thocky lol. Makes me realise just how bad sounding and feels my pre-build k2vs and ducky shine 3 browns are.

Also, what are the recommended linear switches? Wanted to try experimenting with mixing switches. Going to use it for those arrows, shift keys, etc, so it's easier to hold down.
