Recommendations for computer speakers

Noob question, is it advisable to place speakers directly next to monitor or laptop?

Got an old speaker, Creative D200, intending to connect to the monitor and place it directly below monitor and next to laptop.

Can try the iloud micro-monitor. Slightly ex at $399 but it really small and it sounds good for it's size.

Logitech Z407?

It's small like the T6300 but sound definitely way better.

hooked up my edifier speakers... r1280dbs..

previously i was using swan m10

I felt a lack of oomph from r1280dbs when compared to swan m10. In fact, i think the sound from m10 is better even though it have a smaller satellite.

I am guessing it could be the lack of a subwoofer, afterall its 2.1 vs 2.0. Will be looking to purchase a new subwoofer for r1280dbs on 12.12 and see how it goes.

Input option from r1280dbs is definitely better, Bluetooth, optical and 3.5mm.

For myself Edifier R1280DB the one before s version, sound quality is OK for me.
My speaker is driven by Creative Sound Blaster Z while onboard Realtek to me can't deliver.

The SB Z got Bass option but I try not to crank too high else the speaker will distort.
Point here is if you feel the sound lacking the onboard sound card maybe the weak point.
Either can consider a sound card or a DAC to drive the speaker.

You can check if you are using the latest audio driver from the motherboard manufacturer website.

+1 owner of R1280DBs. really value for money and can instantly feel the difference between this and the T100.

Wanted to get S350DB but seems like Edifier is out of stock for many models now.

Size difference is one factor, bigger the speaker the bigger the driver.
Which is why if anyone ask me which to pick I will say the Edifier R1280DBs.
Not to mention Edifier uses wooden cabinet, Creative uses plastic cabinet
so sonic resonance is also difference.

After having tried audio exciter type speakers I think you can get high quality audio without big cabinets. Just need to DIY a little. My speakers hang on the wall, and the sound is at least equal to the R1700BT, which I have compared it with. Works best with subwoofer though.

1. Sound wise if A5+ or HD6 is a better choice? I will use for music (FLAC, Tidal HD) and gaming
2. Connectivity - any way I can stream music to either speaker via wifi?
3. I need a sub for gaming/bass heavy music, is audioengine S8 a decent one to go along with either speaker? If not, what's a better option?
4. Both models are relatively older models, is this a prob?
5. Sorry to ask this, but just wanted to know what's a good price to get these get?

You have to take into consideration that for such setup, it is not plug and play.
The subwoofer you have to fine tune it's crossover and volume in order for the bass to sound
in sync with the speakers and not too boomy.

If you want a fuss free setup can consider 2.1 speaker instead:
- Logitech Z407 - $149
- Logitech Z625 -? (*Mids isn't good but heavy on bass)
- Klispch Promedia 2.1 - $399

Think for your usage Logitech Z625 is suitable.

Currently using a Swan M50W, working okay but just itching for an upgrade since I recently built a new rig lol. Z625 feels like a step backwards, and I chose M50W over promedia.

Wwenze highly recommended (not to me) Edifier S2000MKIII in the audio forum, but these are active speakers with no output to a Sub, so may not suit my purpose. I'm not very sure if S2000's bass is at least comparable to Swans M50W, if it is.. I may find it acceptable..

Any other options?

Logitech Z407?

It's small like the T6300 but sound definitely way better.

The speaker is nice, but I dislike the startup sound which is dang loud and startling. You can't disable nor adjust the volume. So after using trying it for a week, I sold it off at a loss. Went with an Edifier G2000 and never looked back. It is both compact, and sounds great. It makes the cheesy car start up sound when you first power it on, but the sound level is adjustable as compared the the Logitech Z407.

I don't know if there is a place to test it out, but I am using the older S2000, and I actually feel the bass is very good without a sub. First time I opened the box, I was also very shocked by the size. These are some massive bookshelf speakers. I am currently using them with my TV to replace my Yamaha sound bar, and despite the fact that they cost about 20% of the price of my Yamaha sound bar, they exceeded my expectation by a big margin.
