Recommended Korea Tour package

Cool i wonder if i go for F and E will it be better? Anyway is Korea stuffs as expensive as Japan?

i intend to go F&E to korea too! hopefully can find a friend to go with me or else i'll just go on my own.

i've been reading up and adding up some expenses and i realised that for korea, it's cheaper to go for packaged tours then extend if you want more time as compared to going f&e. the air tix is almost the same price as a tour package (but if you buy from an agent it'll be cheaper but not much i guess). meals are about ~S$10 from what i've read and language is definitely a barrier so if you don't know how to read hangul or speak korean, package might be a better choice.

but for me, i find going on packaged tours a bit rush and the attractions aren't my cup of tea esp when they bring you to those ginseng factory or those wholesale centres to buy pearl powder. besides, i've read that though some package tours include attractions like lotte world and everland, it's quite a waste of time cos the place is so huge you won't be able to finish it in a day. but... if you die die must go jeju island, i think it's cheaper if you sign up for a package tour. oh yah, accomodation is quite expensive in korea so you might consider homestay-ing. about ~USD$25 and above for a night.

the prices of stuff in korea is as expensive as those in japan.

Well i still have time(before ORD) to pick up some hangul hehe. Alot of planning to be done , but for someone like me who going to experience their culture etc , tour package seems attractive to me, as long as there's a day or two for free and easy to meet my friend there haha.

actually i think 8d7n or whatever tour package doesn't allow you to really experience the korean culture. besides, you'll be spending most of your time on the bus travelling to and fro. 1/2 a day in one place really won't let you experience any culture but that is my humble opinion.

hmm... need advice from those who have gone f&e to korea, how long do you recommend i stay in seoul to really explore the place. i was thinking 2 weeks.. does it seem too long? i'm not sure if i'm going any other places besides seoul and jeju island on my own since my knowledge of the korean language is pretty limited!

Well maybe the way for me to "experience" their culture is slightly different from yours , but i take your opinion into consideration as Free and Easy need alot of advance planning etc hehe.

most of the flights are overnight flight, you will check in today ( at night ) and reach incheon tomorrow ( morning ) therefore you only stay 6 night of hotel there.

My wife and I just came back yesterday night. Pretty OK tour with SA. Great local tour guide; great sense of humour, patient with us, had very good time planning skills. He made a lot of changes to the itinerary as in juggled order of places around (which all made sense), added a number of both freebie places and also places where entrance fees were required but only upon group consensus or request.

The tour group was great too; very well-behaved, no kids and all adults, mostly young crowd too of 20s to mid-30s - I think my wife and I were among the oldest ones, with just one other couple older than us. Also, there were four men to sixteen ladies in the tour composition; too bad for any single guys who missed this one haha.

I'll be posting up pictures in a few minutes after I get the 900+ pictures I took sorted out.

Teddy Bear Museum
- One of the tourist attractions on Jeju island; basically a four level (I think) museum of Teddy Bear museums. Very nicely done up, though I think it's appeal would be largely centred on ladies and kids.

Songsan Sunrise Peak
- One of my favourite places in the trip. Also on Jeju island. The ascent from ground to the top is all staired, and there are several places to stop and rest along the way.

Seoraksan National Park
- Can't remember how high this mountain is; but we took a cable car to somewhere near the top, then walked / climbed the rest. The view from the peak is magnificent.

Dragon Valley Ski resort
- Pretty hard to take pictures in this place as both my wife and myself were busy skiing, and it was hard juggling equipment and camera. This picture is somewhere near the ground level, but behind us are a number of ski slopes.
