In our case, there were no queuing involved for purchase of tickets itself. At Everland the tour guide issued us with the big 5 tickets, for Lotteworld the big 3. Yea the tickets are marked each time (e.g. hole punched, stapled) each time you visit the attraction.

You still have to line up if there's a long queue at the attraction itself of course. Here's the funny thing though: my wife and I queued up for the Sinbad ride in Lotte World for around 20 minutes, but later upon reading the tour map realized that we didn't need to as we both had express ticket passes that would have allowed us to bypass all the queuing.

Also, the local tour guide had experienced all the Lotte World rides before, so he slapped his Lotte World Guide sticker on me; which gave me unlimited access to all the rides and as many times as I want - heh.

also at everland and lotteworld does the tour guide issue you the big 5 or big 3 tickets, or do they ask you to queue for the tickets. how does the big 5 or big 3 tickets works, they chop on your tickets each time you use it?

Yep ours did too.

Good point about the photos purchase, though then again there was no obligation to buy them actually. Either way, we bought 3 pictures (15K won?), if nothing else to at least thank her for helping us a lot.

For my group's photographer which is a guy, he helps in the luggages as well as serving meals for the group apart from taking photographs.

The amount you paid for buying his photos actually also a form of tipping him for other great service he provided.

There's no need to avoid the photographer; it's better to at least have some photos taken and the option to buy them than not have any photos taken at the difficult spots IMO.

In my case, the outbound to Korea flight served dinner as soon as we boarded. Dinner (either Pipimbab or chicken rice) was awful though, and I mean as in barely edible. You'll probably be able to sneak in at least 3 to 3.5 hours of solid sleep thereafter. Either way, you'd be better off eating dinner at Changi airport, then as soon as you're on the airplane, slap on the "do not disturb" sticker and go Zzzz.

On the return journey, it was an early dinner that was served around 1 hour after takeoff. Equally as bad food. My wife loves Pipimbab, but the Korea Airline version was so bad she had a few mouthfuls then put it away.

For the 1 hour connecting flight, yep, all you get are drinks and maybe peanuts.

regarding the night flight to korea, do they serve supper or breakfast?
korea air is 1am, asiana is around 10:30pm. wish to know what time they serve the meal, if they serve supper, then i will just wait for the supper before i sleep. if they serve breakfast, i will sleep straight away till the breakfast time.

need to know as i do not want to wake me up just for meal.

I heard from my colleague that at the airport before we depart to korea, we will collect the tickets from the tour representative, then check in the lugguage ourselves. He also told me they have to give the tour representative tips when collecting the tickets, can someone confirm.

I though we only need to pay the tour guide tips only.

There are two kind of local tour representatives, one will issue you tickets at Changi Airport but will not travel with you for the tour and the other will travel with you for the tour (for a very large tour group).

For the one that just issue you tics at the airport, you need not tip him at all. For the one that travel with you, which I don't have for my group, think you need to tip him, please check with your tour agent.

did you all try the everland safari where animals are very close to you, that consider 1 ride too?

Yep that's considered as 1 ride, and the Safari was the highlight of the park for me. Really fun 10 minute ride where you go very close to the bears and lions, and occasionally the bus even stopping to wait for the bear to get off the road heh. The bus stops frequently for the bus driver to throw snacks to the bears and get them to perform tricks.

And you get to see a "Liger", the result of cross-breeding between a lion and a tiger.

It will be fun if the weather and temperature is okay. I was there at -12 deg and was like almost "brain-frozen" till you have not much mood to play..haha

Heh yeah that's true. When I was there last week the temperature was about that cold too.

We were there for just over 4 hours I think; plenty of time, though in cold weather getting from one point to the next is quite a bit more tedious.

Went and back

For Genting Holiday, we stay in Robero Hotel Jeju (2 nights) and Daemyung Sorak Resort (2 nights). The other 2 hotels where we stayed 1 night each and I could not recall the name at the moment. Will try to dig out the names and get back to you.

The hotels Genting Holiday stays in are not the best in Korea (like those 5* hotels other agencies are offering), but reasonable and comfortable IMO. We normally get back to our hotel at around 10pm cause Korean shops closed at around 9.30pm

Robero Hotel Jeju was very close to the underground mall (5 mins walk) and very convenient, you could go on your "free and easy" shopping if you have the time. Daemyung Sorak Resort though not ski resort is almost equivalant to one, it has its own supermarket, shops etc and its Sorak Waterworld is a must visit place..hot spa, ginseng bath etc..shiok.

The tour guide with us - Anna a middleage Chinese lady was wonderful and "motherly" and shown us a lot of "out of the iternary" stuff I have an enjoyable and memorable trip really.

It depends, for my group we have 2 breakfast in the hotel western style (toasted bread, egg, ham, coffee/tea etc) and the rest we went out for breakfast one to a Chiness resturant for a buffet style breakfast and another for abalone porridge.

NB: Koreans actually do not have breakfast outside, the family women are to cook breakfast for the family. There are actually no resturants for breakfast outside except those specially arranged by the tour.

I did see a bit of snowing when I'm leaving Jeju island at the Jeju airport (27/12/06), it stormed that day when I left Jeju lucky we able to leave Jeju on schedule to continue my trip and some part of Jeju has heavy snow the day after.

Infact we were told is rare to see snow in Seoul, it only snowed 4 times in 2006.

You will change your view on Korean food when you are there...I'm very sure...I love it so much, I don't we'll ever find authentic Korean food locally here My favourite, their Ikan Bilis and Seaweed sidedish. I put on at least 2 kg after the trip.

For the hotels I'm in, no hi-tec toilets just normal ones we have. There are hi-tec toilets (auto wash etc) at certain hotel floors but we were not given.

For the Big 5 at Everland, I'm not sure; but for Lotte World, if you're having the magic pass, then yep as long as the queue hasn't removed the magic pass privilledge you can bypass the queue straight away.

In our case, IIRC at least two of the breakfasts were western buffet styled: at Hanwah Resort, and also at Dragon Valley. For the other breakfasts it was either Korean buffet, or porridge-styled stuff. The Korean vegetables do take some getting used to (I didn't like them very much myself), but you usually also get stuff you can eat, so no change of starving. E.g. there's always porridge, seaweed, barbequed pork.

And yep, quite a few of the toilets are hi-tech, even for some restaurants. Hi-tec as in electronically controlled WCs that heat up the bowel seating area, and water jets to clean your arse hole after you sh*t. The hotel we stayed at Lotte World was the most luxurious in our 8 day trip, and it was very well equipped: marbled floor in the toilets, double shower taps, electronic WC, personal PC, fax and printer in the room, hotel supplied handphone, etc.
