What can we do in Seoul? Leaving for Seoul this weekend on biz trip but I'm gonna be free for a couple of days to roam around on my own. Will be staying at COEX area.

Please also advise what's cheap in Seoul that we can think of bringing back to Singapore.

Thanks.

there are shopping malls at COEX. for cheaper buys, you can try dongdaemun, nandaemun, myeongdong. then visit the palaces, insadong, go hiking, walking trails etc...

just booked a package to korea in mid-feb at ASA..pricing is 3312 for 2 for 8d7N..

Iterniery as follows:

Day 1:

Depart singapore at 2300+ in a new korea airline..forget its name thou, but is mention tt every seat got tv rather than a common tv in the old airline...

Day 2:

1st stop at Nami Island and thereafter, domestic flight to Jeju Island.. 1st stop is Yongduam and aft that, Mysterious Road

Day 3:

Morning will visit Seongsan Sunrise Peak, located at a 438m above sea level. Next will embark a submarine tour, which can view a spectacular view of the ocean floor as far as 30m. Do some horse riding and pick some fruits at a tangerine farm n photo taking at Rape Seed Flower Farm. Will continue the journey to Cheongieyeon Waterfall and last stop will be at Teddy Bear Museum. Where all shape, sizes of teddy bears is.

Day 4:

Will leave Jeju and stay in Phoenix Hanwha Ski Resort. Proceed to Everland with Big5 ticket included. Kimchi-making session where we will have the opportunity to take photos whiles dressed in hanbok.

Day 5:

Will take a gondola ride up the snowy mountains and skiing. All equipments including lessons will be provided.. less gloves which u haf to bring ur own ( strange! ) Thereafter, proceed to Sorak Waterpia and enjoy some hot spring. Is a water theme park afterall

Day 6:

Proceed to Mount Sorak National Park and the largest wholesale centre, Dongdaemun Market

Day 7:

Visit Gyeongbok Palace and will drive pass the Presidential Blue House and a stop to purchase korean ginseng. Will also visit amethyst factory for jewellery and oso Shinchon Fashion Street. This will be follow by a stop at Tongchunghacho street. In the afternoon, will proceed to Lotte World Adventure Park. Big5 included as well

Day 8:

After breakfast, some leisure time off and after which proceed back to singapore

Any comment to his Iterniery? It states that 90% of the meals will be provided and so are all the entrance fees. Seem to be a fair deal ya..not sure about it but i tink is best to get some good comment from brudders or sister over here.. Anyway, my concern is just to go there and enjoy some winter feeling and hopefully to catch some snowing scene. As i noe, we wun be purchasing any good clothes as it is stil winter season over there.

But some question is, wat can we do at night? as it seem most of the programs is used in the daytime...youngster like us wun wan to slp so early..haha so any clubbing scene to go arnd?

never heard of Korea air has individual tv.

the period that you are going should not be snowing, but temperature should still be around 5 degree in Seoul.
if your jeju hotel is near oriental hotel, you can go across the road and there is a giant e-mart there where there is alot of thing to shop,
ranging from winter cloths, food, wine, drinks etc. can buy the honey there too(those in jeju bottle type), cheaper than those the tour guide bring you to.

Nami island is a romantic place, should take alot of photos there.

did not try the submarine tour, perhaps you can upload photos here when you are back.

When you are at teddy bear museum, look out for the loius vutton bear which is the most expensive teddy bear in the world.

sking is fun, but very tiring after 2 hours, suggest do some warm up to avoid cramps.

sorak waterpia is the best itinery we personally think, it is so fun, with indoor and outdoor pools, each pool has different temperature,
it has power jet on some of the pool to create jacuzzi effect, must try. you can also move from the indoor to outdoor from a
little tunnel which connects to the outside pool. both have to wear swimming trunk or costume. there is also a nake hotspring area inside the bathroom,
after hotspring, you can buy some food from the supermart at the basement of the resort and do some cooking in your room too, each room has a small kitchen.

did not try the submarine tour, perhaps you can upload the photos when you are back.

at night if you want to shop or look around, you can try dongdaemun, it opens until very late, was there until 1am, and still very crowded.

feel free to ask question here, you can also search through this thread of more info too.

Probably Aseana Airlines.

Recommend free and easy rather than join a tour. Not difficult to move around in S. Korea. Subway is easy - just use station no. as reference. Many avoid F&E for S. Korea due to language etc but I didn't find that to be a big issue. Saw a few SG tour groups when I was there - all herded like cattle, rushing from point A to B. 13 nights in S. Korea F&E cost is under S$2k per pax including air, transfers, hotel, food (80% restaurants, 20% food courts), shopping, Sorak, Yong Pyeong, Skiing, Everland, Lotteworld,

Yong Pyeong Resort beautiful for skiing. Dongdaemun Stadium markets open till 5am - so if you cannot sleep, go shop. But generally, things in S. Korea are not cheap...stationery items,

yes, asiana airlines have.
korea is not for senior citizens, it is a city that is moving in parallel with Japan.
senior citizens go China, whereas working adults usually find korea a good place to travel, not too far and not to expensive. snowing is depending on your luck, but very high chance to see snowing in Dec and Jan.

I'm going on the same package!!! From 29 Dec to 6 Jan. I hope to catch snow there!!

Reading this post makes me sooooo excited. :s12: Glad to hear that sorak waterpia is fun. All the hassle to shower after having fun in the water better be afford it. But i think it will be kind of messy with all the winter clothes.

Thanks for all the little tips on where to go.. its so useful :s22: esp good to know that jeju has a place to buy stuff. Cos judging from it i prob will have to buy things like hats, scarfs there.

Thanks again!

when we were out of jeju, we really cannot find a single emart selling wide range of products.
tour guide defintely will bring their tour group to some villages to buy pure honey, about $60 per bottle(jeju shape), but emart can get so much cheaper , cannot remember, but maybe around $35 for the same capacity. they have bigger range and come with different shape, type, taste and smaller bottle too.

yes, you can get scarve there too and other winter accessories too.

I am not a korean, went korea beginning of this year and still remember what happen when we were there.

no idea where is a good place to be in new year's eve, but should be close in most places, jeju is very quiet at night, on the other hand, dongdaemun is very crowded at night.
