Recommended Motherboard and Intel Processor

Hi,

My old PC Intel Core 2 going to retire soon so thinking of upgrading the Motherboard and Processor.

I like to check with you whether any recommended Processor (i5 or i7) and Motherboard as I am using Gigabyte motherboard. I don't really play games on PC but more for web surfing and watch movie with 1GB Fibre plan.

Thanks. I just check my old pc which is on gigabyte GA-EP43T-UD3L motherboard and with 2 pieces of 2GB DDR3 Ram.

Any recommendation for the RAM and Windows OS?

Yes, agree. Already 6 years le so time to change a new one and already gotten the 4TB HDD and can use back my Plextor SSD on the new setup.

Probably around $500+ including RAM.

I should be using back the below items :

1) Plextor SSD 128MB
2) Maxtor 4TB HDD
3) 1 x DVD-Writer
4) Cooler Master Full Tower Casing with Power Supply (Have to check whether power is sufficient)

I have a old NVIDIA Graphic Card but not sure want to use back.

I see. I guess I can get those mouse meant for Win 8.1 instead, right?

I should be interested in the Metal Gear Solid 5 which I love this series from the start.

With the integrated GPU, can it support such game?

GPU: Sapphire HD 7870 2GB Dual-X OC @ $140 (Convergent Systems Service Centre)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit [OEM] @ $115

Total: $549

Buy others from Tradepac, #05-18.

Please reuse your 2GB X2 RAMs, they should have lifetime warranty and get them replaced should they be faulty (if error found with memtest86+).

Please also ensure that your ODD uses SATA interface and not PATA/ATA/IDE.

I never change the PSU as Derrick told me to reuse back the PSU first and when there is a need to add in a good GPU then change the PSU at the same time.

However, I try to put in 2xHDD after setting up the Windows 7 on my SSD, I press the power button but it cannot boot up, not sure it is the symptom of overload for the power supply.

Any advice?

While installing OS to ssd, i can presume both hdd are disconnected? Do check in Bios to see if they are detected and enable. Also, do try out with 1 hdd to see if either is faulty.

No, I never bring down my SSD as I will be using back my previous Win 7. I thought I need to purchase another copy of Windows but the activation is so simple to install onto another PC with the same license key.

Sure, I will follow what Shadow mentioned and plug in one HDD at a time, if the system not able to power up then no choice but to replace a new PSU.

That is not psu issue but hdd issue. If ur system can boot with ssd alone, psu is fine.
