what the frequency for applying mink oil? once a week?
Once every 3 - 6 months depending of the usage of your boot, generally.

Application differs from boot to boot, apply it when the leather is dry.

i believe the idea of applying mink oil to leather to maintain its moisture, soften it.
But it may not help it to age nicely. Maybe once every 3-6mths?

This one really must ask those whom have worn it yearssss liaoz

I wore my Red wing Beckman/Gentleman travellers for a month long europe trip. At first i wore them without insole as recommended by the shopkeeper who said that the leather bottom will mold to your feet. Bear in mind i've been wearing it occasionally in singapore for a few months.

What a big mistake, my feet was suffering badly from it and i immediately bought insoles for them. So learn from my mistake and wear your redwings with insole.

The beckman sole is made of this 3-ply wooden thing which kinda split after a few days. It still works as well but i didn't expect it to split. The sole is really hard as well which made it really tough on the walking as you'll need to flex the sole everytime you take a step.

All in all, i don't think i would want to buy another Redwing. I kinda regretted this purchase. I would suggest boot lovers to try other brands, those with softer soles or soles not made from a few ply.

Perhaps the iron ranger would suit better instead since its a single-ply sole.

Maybe i am quite desk bound, so i dun get this prob when i wear my pair. But sometimes it still hurts the side arc of my right foot... :(

Just curious, is beckman slimmer than the usual RW boots?
I currently own a pair of 8165, honestly speaking find it abit chunky...
