Anyone been able to find the Mens Oro Russet `8131 - Classic Work Moc Toe` Boot series in low cut? Been wanting a pair to go with denim shorts. Searched the whole of Japan through every single ABC shoe mart stores to backstreet stores at Harajuku and only found one pair but it wasn't in my size.

comfort wise,
Iron Ranger series will be more comfortable than GT, no matter what width (D or E or EE).
GT takes a crazy load of time to get em seasoned for optimal comfort. even the laces when pulled taut for a snug fit HURTS like mad when just worn for the 1st couple of days. I had my fair share of discomfort, but just bear the pain (nothings worse than route march in saf boots non-gortex). Well, in all cases, just be prepared to gain a few blisters, unless u have very thick feet soles.
Imo, my iron ranger is really comfortable in EE, seems seasoned after a weeks usage. As compared to my GT, which took me many many months.

Reason being?
Maybe featherstone or the 19xx series horween leather, is thicker and stiffer than the normal range (non-GT).

my 2cents worth. above is just my review, not applicable to some people with "Iron Feet".

ironman and GM both also 400plus?
any other nice model to recommend? i prefer heels as i dont really fancy the wedges sole. :s22:

I've been seeing a lot of people wearing those with denim shorts and flannel shirts around in Japan or with jeans and have been trying to find them.

I've got a pair of classic Moc Toe in that colour as well but I find them a little hard to go with denim shorts due to their higher cutting.

imo, u should try it on physically in a local store. then get it later in ebay or some online webstore. maybe cheaper in a sense? :s13:

heel sole? well GT and iron rangers are... wedge sole is for irish setters.
then again, u can always re-sole to the sole u want, but a price to pay and finding the right cobbler for the job.=:p

where u guys go and change ur soles huh? the suntec branch doesnt do it anymore i heard. been wearing mine for 9 years, changed soles thrice!

details difference:
-beckman uses the soles which are made of tyres? not sure about that the black part. then the 3ply wood sole (heard its actually thick veg tan ply together and not wood). in terms of sturdiness, some say better than the traction tred sole (the white sole). some say white sole better (cos can change easier and cheaper? maybe more comfy?)
-iron ranger uses the cork sole (or maybe something else). its oil resisting. doesnt have the 3 ply wood thingy. purely cork.
-grip wise, both kinda suck. why?
beckman is 2 part. heel and front feet got sole. the arch part is empty. so problem arrives when u place your feet onto a bar or a pole (when u sit on a chair, sometimes u would place your feet on the hinge or something), will definitely slip. but dont worry. your heel part of sole will hold onto the hinge.
iron ranger is kinda smooth on the soles, so i guess it doesnt have the ridges or grooves like the white soles. hence lousy grip on a rainy day?

appearance wise:
-iron ranger slightly taller than beckman.
-iron ranger removes easier than beckman becos the eyelets are 3 holes and 3 hooks type. beckman is all holes.
-original laces provided for both different. beckman is waxy fabrice type lace and flat. iron ranger is like the standard yellow brown round lace, but its light and dark brown in colour.
-iron ranger toes part (the outside) has the stripped stitching across. beckman is just round toe or moc toe. depends on the model.
-last difference. iron ranger back of the ankle part quite stiff, due to the extra leather piece sewn to it. beckman doesnt have that.

really depends on office dress code. whether management or boss is on the ball for dress code.

imo, i dont really recommend red wing for dress shoes though. aldens or trickers maybe. but then again, those 2 brands really very ex.
personally, i would say GT.
why?
- slightly glossy in the finishing. somewhat for office wear maybe?
- for the round toe its quite slim if its D.
- subtle stitching (cos iron ranger has that horizontal stitches across the toe cap) so its better for office wear?
- eyelets are black for GT. iron ranger is not (not sure what metal is used, sorry, but i dont think it will rust)
- laces are black or very dark brown for GT. (iron ranger used the brown and light brown variation of laces, much like the standard yellow brown laces for the irish setters)

sorry. when u all mention GT, does it mean Beckman???
If its Beckman to Iron Range i looking, it be either 9011 or 8111. Dun want something light colors like 9013.
Btw, anyone seen before 9016 already? How is its color comparing to 9011 and 8111???

my normal mon-thu work attire is normal long sleeves shirt and pants, hardly ties.
so far even when i wore my 8165, boss also yet to say me :p

but scratches... hmm...
