Partly due to publicity bah, worn by western and Japanese artistes. But some boots fans believe they aren't the best value for money. One man's meat can be another's poison bah. Enjoy what you like, not what others think. IMHO

then play boots would play those leather goods, like red moon trucker wallets, bridle leather belts (which are actually great, durable and affordable)

Took me 2 years ++ for them to soften the boots. Still quite tough leh! Haha

Looking at red wing. Can I ask: how long does it take for the leather to soften? Can I use mink oil or dubbin etc to speed up the softening?

i think some materials are not so easily softened. its meant to be tough, so wont over get soft unless u get those calf leather etc which will soften after wear..

don't wear daily like American as work boots will take awhile.

ppl here don't like mink oil, use leather conditioner or boot oil. issue is applying these may darken the color.

i think the reason people dont like mink oil here in sg is because people here not as rugged as the americans.
we prefer dressy looking types and classier stuff. but to me, if u already getting a red wings, just thrash the hell outta shoe. its meant for that and it is made to last...
