What size boots will they make yours in?

Size 8.5 D (42).
They just take my Red Wing Moc Toe 875 sizing.

At first they gave me Siuri last (the normal width last), and I asked them which will be the closest to my Red Wing 875, and they changed it to Budokan last (wider width last).

Copy paste of their description of their lasts, no few angles/view images of the lasts either.

These are the descriptions of the lasts we have:
- Budokan: This type of shoelast has a bulky end shape. If you prefer having a tough look boots, the last should do you best.
- Siuri: The shoelast has a sharp toe box. We specifically design it fits for a formal or casual occasions.

- Serenity: The slimmest last we have. It impresses a dressy shape. Thinking about going to a venue with a suit? Serenity is just right.

I can only trust them as a craftsman and hope its won't be too wide/bulky.

True that, currently just buying around 1-2 pairs of boots a year (either on big sale or lightly worn used), and all average about $150-200 SGD. Like you have also mentioned RW boots always got sales all round the year, which I got around that value for either Moc Toe/Iron Ranger/Beckman.

I really want to get Viberg, but brand new is $650-750 USD (and have not add on the 7% GST), which is closer to 5 pairs of RW boots haha! And rarely can get on sale, even if have my size/colour choice will be out of stock within an hour or 2, too popular on Reddit GYW/FMF subreddit threads.
At the moment don't think that will be the priority (plus family commitments in the near future), unless got promoted/high bonus, if not is saved up 2-3 years boots quota then get Viberg/Whites/Truman.

Thanks for the advice! :)

BTW, finally ordered the Txture MTO boots, communicating with them is a bit of problematic especially on their response time, which can take more than a week to answer simple questions like the different lasts they have, and some minor tweaks is it possible.

In the end, have to trust whatever they recommend as I need it before my wedding in September. They sort of make me feel I'm a troublemaker customer, when I am just sincerely enquiry on very simple/basic questions for first time buyer with them.

I'm not sure about their boots craftsmanship and quality, but the customer service part (in both response time and sincerity from them) really need to improve.
Hi bro, care to share around which time of the year will red wing boots have sales and where? Hoping to get my first redwing boots online, as local store is too exp

Appreciate the detailed reply. It gives me a clearer picture of what i want from my MTO with them.

Looking at getting their Pacific Boots in Black Roughout. Seems that i have to size up on the Siuri last. I much prefer a sharper toe box on their Pacific boots.

The thing is, we don't have a clear few angles of their different last photos to have a proper comparison.

So I have no choice but to play safe to get the wider width one. (I have a slight wider width feet + their recommendation to get Budokan last when I asked for the most similar to Red Wing boots)

Based on their IG photos, the Warhorse on the Budokan last looks good too. Have to agree with you regarding the lack of info/photos regarding their last fittings.

I have wide feet, I just hope that they could do something with the info I shared with them. Would only order the Pacific boots on the Siuri last, Budokan would be a no go for me. Unless they can do something regarding the toebox volume.

Ya, just hope for the best.

I think you can ask/specify what you want to them, but how fast they will respond to you is another story. If you have patience then shouldn't be a problem haha!

Not Red Wings, but still a review of a very nice pair of boots. Y'all love all boots right?

I've never been so excited over a pair of shoes...

The appeal of these boots is such that it is designed as a sleek dressy casual boot, with a level of formality lying somewhere between a work/hiker boot and a dress boot.

First, the pics:
LFoRfEh.jpg

This is a monkey-style boot, a rare yet very classic design. Calf leather, fully leather lined, double-stitched storm welt Goodyear welted, with leather mid soles and rubber outsoles.
Stitched through commando soles, for those daring raids deep inside shopping malls. It's softer than those vibram soles found on most hiker boots, also softer than Dainite. So I'd expect a softer ride at the expense of durability.

IkyitBO.jpg

This pic captures the Coimbra patina quite well. It's like a deep chestnut color, and the patina only shows in strong light. Very subtle, very very well done!
I really dig the soft "eagle claw toe" of CS lasts, and the storm welt accentuates it.

Details:
cFuNXzK.jpg

Thick beefy storm welt , double-stitched and stained. Calf stitching is flawless throughout, not a single loose/stray thread. And check out the crazy detail on that first eyelet!

lDLOZ1S.jpg

Welt-joint isn't perfect...but it's pretty damn good. Welt meets leather midsole meets rubber.
Stacked heels. The lightly padded CS medallion is stitched onto the inner ankle.

The inner construction blew me away...
SIWPfAR.jpg

That seam running down the back of the heel is one of only two seams holding four pieces of inner lining leather together. Less seams means less chance of failure, and less hotspots irritating the foot. I don't know how CS pulled it off, but they did.
Heel padding is just the right balance of firm and cushy.

B1fEwVY.jpg

And there's the other seam running across the tongue. Tongue is lightly padded.

4QjuNmU.jpg

And here's a feature I really like: ankle flex zone. The cut-out should give the boots a bit more flexibility. Lace loop is pretty sturdy at 1.5mm thick, and is stitched to the tongue using a simple and elegant method. Also note the tri-color hiker-style laces, which does give the design a hiker-ish vibe.

Last comparison:
3yARMgE.jpg

CS 264 last compared with Loake Capital last, UK6.5 vs UK8.
This size for me is a tad roomy, UK7.5 would have been ideal. My original intention was to get a larger size to accommodate thick wool hiker socks and an insole. Unfortunately they only made this design in full sizes, so I had to size up.
It looks...big, mainly because of the elongated last and that BIG ASS storm welt
(I dunno...I guess I'm a little worried abt looking like Ronald McD? )

Leather quality: OH. MY. GOD.
One word: superlative.
Perfectly smooth and taut throughout, with not a single stretch mark or imperfection. Pressing on or flexing the leather produces very fine wrinkles, which immediately disappear once I lift my finger. Fingernail indentations/scratches gets rubbed out easily. I compared it with my Loake 1880 Strands, and ...it's not even close. Loake 1880s are good shoes, but Carlos Santos is clearly in a different league, both in terms of leather quality and construction.
And at a price point very similar to Loake 1880s, it's a no brainier. My next pair will definitely be from Carlos Santos.

Likes:
Leather, construction, design, Coimbra patina, finishing, padded tongue & cuffs, gunmetal speed hooks, sleek sculpted last

Dislikes:
Does not come in half-sizes

If I were to really nitpick, I would have preferred a more hard-wearing material for the outsole.
Also, the vertical heel reinforcement leather strip runs all the way to the top of the cuff, which means that stiff part of the cuff might dig into the calves.

SUMMARY:
A hiker boot it is not, but for weekend raids into malls and for stomping around town, the Carlos Santos Urban Trekkers exclusive to Arthur Knight represents tremendous value and a dressier alternative to Red Wing boots.

Would like to check with people who ordered Txture boots before, did you have any problems with your MTO shoes/boots?

I was so keenly anticipating my MTO boots, but when I finally received it today...it was not made to order (specs).

2 of the errors are:

1) Specified gusseted tongue, but came as normal tongue.
2) Specifield same thread colour, without the vertical white contrast thread across the boots. But still came with that vertical white thread.

Now awaiting their response, anyone that has their orders wrong and have refunded or so with them before?

How's the quality of the uppers and construction? In comparison to your American made boots.

Haven't really wear yet (so stiil can return), so based on hand touch feeling.

Compared to my Red Wing 875, it's more soft/supple and comfortable. Maybe because I opt for full lambskin lining also.

Stitchdown construction looks nice, but I'm not an expert or have an experienced eye in this field.

So this is my initial feeling.

So you're planning to commission another pair from TXTURE if you return/sell this pair?

From your pics, uppers & construction looks pretty decent.

Yep, going to do the same pair/specs of boots, and hope they don't send the wrong boots over again. zzz

Other than the issues with the contrast stitching and tongue, sizing-wise, you're good to go?

Had sent them an MTO form, and there were a mix-up on the size in their invoice. No confidence, so didn't go through with the purchase. Ended up picking up a pair of RW Huntsman.
