Update again!

I started with hop, worked up to 50kg x 6 (couldn't do 8), smith machine worked up to 80kg x 8, lateral raises, upright rows, and finished with hanging knee lifts 8 reps x 3. I try to lift my knees as slowly as I can until they are just below the bar. Usually my arms become tired before my tummy as I'm too heavy.

I also did a couple of sets of back extensions. Very relaxed and slow reps.

Diet again wasn't so good. I rushed home from gym as I was meeting my bro to collect some shirts from newcastle tailor. I didn't finish my lunch as i was already late, drank my whey creatine bcaa mixture and left. The shirts are nice, although a little more expensive than i thought. Dinner was braised pork (yum yum) and stir fried long beans.

No swimming today as it's wed. Pool is closed for cleaning.

Do you know where I can get a cheaper source of raw nuts? I usually eat those roasted nuts like almond or mixed nuts. They taste fine but i know raw nuts are healthier

A couple more things:
- don't use e smith except for pull/chin ups & inverted rows. The machine screws yr body up big time.
- drop upright rows if u want yr shoulders to be healthy.

U may not feel the effects now but once u reach middle age, it'll hit u big time.

today was a mixture of good and bad. my workout wasnt as good as i wanted it to be as i was tired. my baby suddenly developed a habit of waking up at 5am and playing by himself for an hour. i forced myself to do the exercises, but i could tell my mind gave way before my body did.

one thing that im happy is that although i really yearned to go home immediately after gym, i managed to cycle to the pool and swim six rounds. i just kept telling myself to cycle to the next traffic light, and then just get into my trunks, and then just get in the water and then just touch the other side. kinda like bluffing and coaxing a small kid. the amazing thing is that i actually went ahead and completed everything. speaks volumes about my childish mind.

same diet as always, but i ate a piece of bread again in the evening as i was too hungry. tomorrow i have decided not to swim and buy nuts instead. i will cycle more during the weekend.

is there a reason why upright rows are bad for shoulders? i dont mean to sound doubting. im just really curious.

now that my back is getting stronger, im also thinking of skipping smith machine ohp and focus instead on regular ohp.

There's an Eric Cressy article on T-Nation on why the upright row is bad for shoulder health. Do a search on it on T-Nation

I've stopped doing up right rows for the past 5 years (not sure what motivated me I just stopped). It can be done but limit your ROM.

In any case for shoulders and aesthetics you really need only concern with medial delts because chest and back exercises work the front and rear delts. You may want to add face pulls for rear delts.

I buy my nuts (almonds, cashews mainly) from a shop in the Bencoolen, I don't know the name, it's in Channel 8!

Every day with your baby is special. On mornings when he/she is awake I call those days "magical". I'm usually late to work on the days she's awake in the morning :)

You may want to consider some caffeine in the morning - I take 200mg (1 tablet) every morning and sleep quite well. I'm not a regular coffee drinker.

In short just lateral raise Ur way into oblivion.

For me my rear delts always looked like they were non existent, so I added in rear flys at the end of my workouts.
I'd like to think they are now at least visible haha.

There's something much better than coffee - works just as well but doesn't give u the jitters or stoned feeling.. it's called Arctic Root.

Got a few caps as free samples from my last iHerb order. Took 2 caps on Wed afternoon, gave me a v good energy boost within half an hr & I worked out in the evening. No problem sleeping that night.

If I take a cup of coffee in the afternoon, I'll stare at the ceiling till 2 - 3 am.

Thanks Chay I will look into that. Biotest has/had a similar product - T NATION | Rhodiola - Most Potent Adaptogen 15% Rosavins

I'm okay with Caff but I agree take too late and it's jitters till late night.

I take other nootropics like Aniracetam and Sulbutiamine in the mornings. Sharp as an arrow.
