@kottty @GJN

I see ppl having to verify their Mi account with Chinese ID/driving license/bank acct details in order to apply to unlock bootloader recently. But not sure if it's for those running HyperOS, or for all China models including those on MIUI...

I presume you guys managed to unlock it without having that restriction? (Not sure about now)
What locale did you set your account and device to before unlocking, if I may ask?

No, nothing like that - just unlock as usual before with my account no. This was done 2 months ago unless they changed their requirement recently. Locale should be Singapore as they asked for my phone number for verification once many years ago (not this round).

Ok thanks for the info. And yes, they recently did. But it is unclear if it is a blanket regulation that covers all of Xiaomi's China models, or just those on the new HyperOS. News articles say for HyperOS onwards, some ppl on Reddit say MIUI also kena (via a backend security update). But I have no idea which is true until I get my hands on my unit. Or should I just cancel order? :(

Btw the locale you mentioned is for Xiaomi account? Or the phone?

So the phone will always be identified as a China set, no matter where it is used?

Does it not affect the use of banking apps?

That is referring to Mi account if there is such a setting. I am not sure of the locale setting in the original china rom. If it is referring to time/language, I selected Singapore.

BTW vibranze have also unlocked the boot loader successfully recently if I am not wrong.

This new rule just kicked in like last week? So I guess I'll find out when I get my hands on my unit.

If you were to apply to unlock from scratch again now, got any new account verification? Can I trouble you to give it a try if you have the time and don't mind?

No, no more verification as long as you use the same email or phone. Mi Unlock will unlock the phone immediately. Hope this helps.

I have been using Android 14 of Evolution X since the release of their first version. Based on my type of usage (call, sms, whatsapp, broswer, music, video, bluetooth, android auto, shopee etc), it is very stable. Power usage is good too.

I just fired off an unlock request yesterday after receiving and setting up my Turbo. Fingers crossed it works, just nice after my ICT ends.

@vibranze I'll certainly give your combo a try if all goes well.
Btw did you have to flash some vbmeta img thing during the process?

Nope, I didn't flash vbmeta img, just unlock bootloader, flash recovery, flash rom, flash ksu/magisk and install the modules, that's all.

Hi bro I have received my note 12 turbo 16gb 1T too.

Would like to learn from you.

Is this the most stable ROM that we can use?
How is it compared to normal Poco f5 global rom?

Note 12 turbo use china rom while Poco f5 use global rom. I don't have much experience in both china and global rom. I think they are equally good but just that there are too many applications or links that are catered more for china users and rarely or not used at all for us here. You can get some feedback from users here or in poco f5 thread regarding china and global rom. I think best is to try them all and same to custom roms.

There are a few custom roms avaliable for note 12 turbo (EvolutionX, crDroid, aosp etc). I have only used EvolutionX and it is very stable. So far, I am very satisfied with it.

Installing custom rom is not very difficult even for new users. What is a little uncertain is to get the bootloader unlocked. I have read some instances where people are having problems unlocking it. I think it should be alright as I have just unlocked my 2nd note 12 turbo 2 weeks ago.

Have fun exploring around with your new phone! :)
