anyone using simba? seem like can't get 5g working..

It is lacking the n40 band for 5G. Simba needs that band for NSA. The other 5G band that Simba using is n1, most likely as SA. It affects only Simba users in SG because only Simba uses this n40 band. The other 3 telcos got awarded the n78 and n1 bands for 5G which is on the Turbo band listing. Have you also changed the location to Singapore and see if it opens up the n40 band? The chipset itself can support n40 since Poco F5 which uses the same chip has a lot more bands including this n40.

Have you tried wifi 6E on this phone? Which means using the 6Ghz instead of 5 and 2.4 Ghz for wifi.

I think this is good news to Simba users! I managed to get 5G in Woodlands area today. First time getting this and same location before was 4G. I think Simba is slowly rolling out more 5G band support. According to this list from Simba, Redmi Note 12 Turbo is not 5G supported yet. I think it should be updated to include our phone soon. :)

Try out the speed if you still have data to spare. The phone has an n1 band for SA 5G, but when people post their test results on Simba thread with similar specs (only n1 band), the speed seems to be quite slow.

Are you using China ROM also? There are some complaints that after updating DBS apps, internet banking cannot be used.

The area I am staying is still 4G. Apart from Woodlands, I am also getting 5G at Aljunied Mrt today. I have not tried the speed yet.

I am using custom rom (Evolution X). I think 5G support is not likely to be rom related - China rom is likely to be supported too. I will do a speed test next time.

May I know from all custom ROMs, what made you choose Evolution X? I'm waiting for my unit to be unlocked before I can flash it with custom ROMs. Is the Singpass app and gPay works with Evolution X? Thanks.

I have used many different custom roms before (with my previous phones) including Evolution X. Most of them are good and have may be slightly different features of your likes. I will usually choose based on one which is well supported (with prompt and frequent updates) and reliable (preferable a more well known developer than unknown).

I didn't use it for Singpass and gPay. Singpass should be okay as I used it before (previous phone) with other custom rom. The next update of Evolution X (soon) will be Android 14 according to the developer. :)

My unlock period is 7 days. Good to explore the uniqueness of different roms. Have fun! :)

On the China ROM, there is no Whatsapp call notification on screen. The phone vibrates, but nothing shows on screen unless I manually open Whatsapp.

Is there a fix?

Guys, does the NFC work here in Singapore for GPay etc?

Getting conflicted info from different sellers. Some say can, others say can't.

May I ask when you performed the unlock?

Recently, I kept getting "Device not activated" during the unlock process after waiting the 7 days for my Redmi Note 9 Pro (local set). Attempted and waited twice to no avail, same error.

I'm tempted to hoot a Turbo soon, but not sure if I'll run into the same problem if I try to unlock.

Yes, enabled OEM Unlocking beforehand and done this liao. Already logged into my Xiaomi account and activated my SIM before linking my device.
Ok, great to hear!

I believe you can accidentally "restart" the countdown if you swap your sim with different sim that is used to request the unlock, or stay offline/airplane for too long (3-5 days). Safe bet is, keep your phone on, don't swap the sim, and stay connected to internet as best as you could until you have successfully unlocked it.

Only one SIM and it's in the entire time. It's my daily set. Xiaomi support also not helpful at all, they keep refusing to offer any kind of assistance to unlock, citing "security" and "safety".

Btw this is sort of off-topic, so I'll just leave it for now. I'm waiting for my Turbo to arrive soon. :) Seller tells me bootloader is unlocked, but I dunno true or not or he confused. Other shops tell me their unit is sealed BNIB.

I can not recall any big problem encountered before unlocking phones. Some takes 7 days and some takes 14 days. It should be alright. After you have added your phone to your mi account. Follow the timer/ waiting period shown in Mi Unlock Tool to unlock. Do not try to unlock it before the period otherwise it may trigger it to restart the activation period.

Just a side note, my phone is able to receive 5G (Simba) at many locations now.

Same... I have unlocked quite a few Xiaomi phones (not this year though) so far, all go without issues after the wait. But recently, it seems like they are making it difficult for people to unlock. Maybe because of HyperOS release...

Even my laokokok 7yo Xiaomi account also give me problem and stop me from unlocking...
